Chapter Four-The return of the exiled Luna

Olivia I stood before the tall city walls, the place I once ran from, now forced to welcome me back with open arms. It had been three years since I was saved by the rogue king. Through rigorous training, surviving through life and death situations, I was finally here. Standing right before my pack, ready to get revenge on the man who had betrayed me. I felt the footsteps approaching from behind the doors, multiple footsteps. A sly smirk rose on my face. My eyes stayed fixated on the door, awaiting for him to open the door. I felt the air on my skin rising. Finally, my chance was here, and when the gates opened, he was left dumbfounded. I could see his lips slightly parted, eyes widened and a crease formed between his brows. My smile grew even larger as I stepped closer to the convoy which stayed still in their steps. “Nice to meet you, Alpha Jacob,” I said, a sly grin on my lips. He blinked, uncertainty written all over his face but soon he'd regained himself. “Why are you here?” He spoke in a low voice, high enough for me to hear but too low for the convoy to. I stepped back, raising my voice as loud as I could. “Don't you want us here? I was sent to offer aid to the pack but from that look on your face. I don't think you need it.” I stopped, turning to face the troop that had followed me in. They looked surprised at my words, but didn't dare say a thing. After a brief moment of silence, he finally spoke. “We need it.” I turned at his words to see him making a path for us to walk through. “You're welcome.” He spoke through gritted teeth, and seeing that expression on his face made me grin from ear to ear. --- I traced my hands on the piles of papers before me, hoping to find some useful information about the pack’s situation. The moonlit pack had fallen to its lowest point after Jacob took over. A sudden illness befalls the town, and strange things begin occurring. A furrow formed between my brows, the pieces of information looking more confusing than the one I had previously gotten. A rustle came between the grasses. I raised my head immediately, thinking it was Sarah, but from the stealthy behaviour, I soon deduced who it was. A sly smile rose on my face, my head tilted slightly as I stared directly in his direction. “Since when did you become a coward?” My words startled him; he walked out of the bushes, a frown on his face, which faded as soon as he came face to face with me. He paused, his lips slightly parted without words escaping them. My eyes scanned his entire body, and I could feel a surge of anger rising through me. I smiled, trying my best not to lash out as I spoke. “What could possibly make the Alpha come to me personally, and act so ?” I asked, my head slightly tilted. I locked eyes with him. My gaze was stern and cold. He blinked, shocked at my words before he walked forward. “Can you stop the act?” He asked, his head hung low. I raised a brow and he continued. “Why are you here? And as the leader of the convoy?” I sneered, rolling my eyes at his question. “I worked to get here. Or do you think I don't deserve it?” “I came to help the pack. Have the pack’s issues made you so worried that your memory isn't good anymore?” I asked, making a pitiful expression. His jaws clenched tightly, but he softened as soon as he caught my gaze. Almost like he was playing some game I couldn't understand. “Can you stop this please. I really need to know what happened. How exactly did you survive?” He asked, his tone low and a slight sense of remorse. I almost fell for his pitiful look, but I knew better. It was this same face that he had used to lure me in, almost taking my life. I smiled, ignoring his words as I spoke. “You seem really disappointed that I'm alive.” I paused, taking a moment to study his conflicted expression. He seemed confused, needing an explanation but I didn't care. I continued, “Did you really expect me to perish in that fire?” I asked, my hands tightening into tight fists as the scene flashed right before my eyes. My desperate cries for help echoed through my ears, and I could feel my hate for him grow even larger. “I didn't. I tried my best to save you after I discovered what happened, but I didn't expect to not see you there. I thought something might have happened to you. I thought they had—” he paused, not completing his words. I turned towards him, and his head lowered immediately. A guilty expression on his face. I scoffed, turning away. “You don't have to lie to me. I don't need it.” I paused, taking in a deep breath. “If you're afraid I would sabotage the plan, I can assure you that I can't. Those troops are also here to keep an eye on me, so don't worry, your pack is safe.” I finished, unwilling to continue the conversation further. I picked up the papers but his hands flashed before my eyes. He pulled them down and stared right at me. “That’s not what I'm worried about. Can you tell me how exactly you survived? What you went through, how you—” I didn't let him finish, I banged my hands hard against the table, leaving him startled. I gave a menacing gaze, speaking through gritted teeth. “Don't push it too far,” I said, and he backed off, almost retreating but he still stood. Sarah suddenly walked in, slowing down as she saw my hardened face. “See the guest out.” Jacob looked back and turned towards me again. He was reluctant, wanting to stay but I spoke again, my voice echoing throughout the yard. “See him out.” Sarah went closer to help him but he raised a hand. “I'll go myself.” He said, before walking out. I stared at his retreating figure before falling back to my seat. Sarah came closer, looking back and forth before she spoke. “I got some information.”
