Chapter One- Betrayed by my Alpha
Olivia “Olivia is a murderer. Lock her up.” His words resounded in my ears, over and over again. I blinked, trying to fool myself into believing this wasn't happening but the guards closing in proved otherwise. Today was supposed to be the best day of my life. I was supposed to become the Luna of the pack but things went downhill. I had sat anxiously in the audience, my hands tightly wrapped around each other with my feet tapping impatiently. I stared as he walked into the podium, expecting that he wanted to announce me as his Luna, but I was hit with the greatest shock of my life. Jacob had walked onto the platform, radiating with glory, but who knew he was about to betray me. “...Olivia Rei.” He paused, looking into my eyes for a split second. My heart skipped a beat. The moment I was waiting for was finally here. I smiled, my cheek hurting from how much I had done that today but in that split second, I saw something else. It was love, not impatience, but hate. My smile flickered but I shook it off. Impossible. It should be someone else. “She has been by my side for years. Who knew she was just after something else?” He said, and in an instant, my whole body trembled. My observation didn't seem so paranoid anymore, it now looked real, terrifyingly real. My head throbbed as I heard it continue. He spoke of my malicious plan, and finally about how I had taken his sister's life. A chill ran down my spine, my feet frozen in place, but a thought flashed in my mind, and I foolishly stood up. “Don’t be,” I said, loud enough to shake the entire place, while I trembled deep inside me. “Elisa was the one and only, how could I murder her?” I said, marching up to him, but as soon as I saw his expression, his eyes, which held what I thought would never fade, my knees buckled. He looked ready to rip me apart into pieces, and for a moment there, I actually confirmed my thoughts; he had been lied to. Jacob turned towards the crowd, totally ignoring my words. “I would never make such claims without evidence.” He said, signalling to his beta who spread some papers into the crowd. The paper flew right in my direction and at that moment, I felt my whole world crumble. A picture of me holding Elisa in my arms, fresh blood still in my hands. I fell to my knees, picking up the numerous pictures which stood as irrefutable evidence of my betrayal but I never did all this. I looked up to him, tears now streaming down my face. I knew he was obsessed with finding the truth, but I had never expected that he would use Elisa's death to get rid of me. His head glare left my mind racing with thoughts, since when did Jacob become this? My lips trembled, words coming out in only short fragments. “You know I would never do this,” I said, a little glint of hope still in my heart. I really wished he had just been deceived and would give me a chance to prove my innocence but he gave his order. “Take her away.” His voice was cold, stern, and devoid of any care in the world. I stared at his hardened face as I was dragged away, tears falling uncontrollably, wondering where and how I had gone wrong. My head sprang with thoughts, a throw jerking me back to reality. The guard locked the prison doors with a hardened face, following his Alpha’s orders strictly. A chill ran down my spine, my eyes twitched before I pulled my legs together. Cold catching her. I stared at the chains, looking at the door, the same chains I used to order to be used on criminals, now used on me, but not ordered by a traitor, but rather the love of my life. My jaw tightened, fist clenching. This couldn't be my fate. I had to find out what truly happened. I tried to get up on my feet, but I fell back down immediately. The air suddenly felt trapped in my lungs. I coughed, the misty smoke filling my lungs. I stumbled towards the gates, coughing uncontrollably. “Fire. Run, Fire.” I heard one of the guards screaming and my eyes widened. I mustered up strength, standing swiftly to my feet but the mist had already risen to the top. I lowered my head, covering my nose with my sleeves as I stumbled towards the prison gates. But I soon felt my knees buckling beneath me. This time I fell with no strength to pull myself back up. I crawled towards the door, my head spinning. “Help.” I banged on the cell door, hoping for the door to open, to be saved; however, no one came. No guards passed. The place was just filled with screams of panic, no one remembered that someone was locked up. The cries grew faint, and my eyes twitched. I didn't need anyone to tell me that the others were saved already. I rested my back on the cell doors. Covering my nose with my head with the little bit of strength I had in me. Was I supposed to die here? A thought flashed through my mind, but I shook my head. No, he couldn't do that. He wouldn't take my life without giving me a chance to speak. I said over and over again, trying to convince myself it was true. The chains suddenly dropped to the floor, and I turned, hoping it was him, but I came face to face with someone else who shouldn't have the cell's keys. Amy.
