Chapter 11

[Amara’s POV]

    I woke up early surprisingly after Brian and I made love throughout the night, it’s 7:34 in the morning and he’s passed out snoring lightly, goddess, I love this man. I leaned over and kissed his forehead before getting out of bed. I crept over to my dresser and picked out a good outfit for training, a simple Nike crop top with a matching pair of black leggings and a black sports bra and lace thong to go with it; it’s time that this luna gets to training with her pack members. I made my way to the bathroom to get ready, I was already naked from last night so that made it easier to get ready, once I was finally dressed I brushed out my hair and put it into a high ponytail. There’s no point in brushing my teeth right now since I’m about to eat something, but I did rinse my mouth out with water and grabbed my mints before heading out of the bedroom.

    I made my way down the stairs, meeting Amber and Derek on my way down. “Luna! good morning are you headed to training with us today?” Derek said excitedly, “Yes Derek I am headed to training with you guys this morning,” I said with a smile while placing my arm on Amber’s shoulder while walking down the stairs. “Everybody else is already waiting for us, they get up early and like to spare before anybody else gets there,” Derek said with a nod. We grabbed a couple of pieces of toast and headed out the door. By the time we got to the training grounds we already ate our breakfast and were sucking on our mints, “I don’t exactly know what to do, I mean I’ve seen you guys training before but I’ve never trained.” I said shyly looking between Amber, Sky, Natalie, and the boys, “No worries we’ll lead you through it Mar,” Skyler said with a smirk.

    Natalie was my sparring partner first, we started by punching and blocking each other switching every ten minutes, I found that sparring is pretty fun but I wanted to do more, I wanted to do challenges with them like they do every Wednesday and Friday. “You’ve got one hell of a right hook Mar!” Sky shouted as I laid Natalie out, “Oh my goddess I’m so sorry are you okay?” I asked frantically while trying to help Natalie up, everyone started to laugh and I looked around confused, “What’s everyone laughing at?” Derek looked at me, “Luna that’s the whole point of sparring, to see who’s stronger and to fight, sparring is just warm-ups for some of our challenges.” I felt myself turn red and I made an ‘O’ shape with my mouth. Natalie was finally coming to and she rubbed her jaw with her hands, “Nice hit Mar! I want you on my team for sparring challenges.” she laughed as she stood up.

    “When’s the next sparring challenge?” I looked at her hoping that it was soon, “Wednesday a little after the high school gets out of school, so like three thirty pm.” I nodded while smiling, I’m glad I will finally be able to participate with the pack youth and some of our warriors. “Alright, guys let’s switch to our kicks and blocking those.” I jumped because Brian shouted that from behind me, I didn’t even notice he came up but here he was in all his glory. He was shirtless and in a pair of black and red basketball shorts, goddess his physique is that of a god, I thought while starring at my mate. Leigha was purring at what we were seeing.

    “Earth to Amara…” Skyler tapped my shoulder taking me out of thought, I turned to a beet red as I looked at her, getting in my blocking stance. “I’m not going easy on you, I know you have a killer kick,” Sky said and we all laughed. Skyler has one powerful kick, but I’ve been good at blocking, dodging, and jumping before she can lay me out. She did manage to get my sides a few times but not enough to knock me down. “Switch!” Dominik shouted this time and I looked at Sky with a mischievous smile, “I won’t go easy on you either.” I stated before shaking her hand and getting into my offensive stance.

[Dominik’s POV]

    We were all getting ready to switch positions when I looked to the luna, my twin was now in the defensive mode getting ready for all the kicks she would receive from luna Amara. I looked away for not even a second when I heard a body drop. In my peripheral vision, I had seen Skyler jump, yet she was now laid out on the ground about ten feet away from luna Amara. I was about to go check on my twin but Derek stopped me, “What the f*ck are you doing let me go check on her!” I angrily whispered at him, he just shook his head and pointed, the luna was already by her side helping her to her feet as they were just… laughing? Why was my sister laughing? She just got laid out within a few seconds, shouldn’t she be mad at herself for getting laid out so quickly? I rolled my eyes and shrugged it off before turning to face my sparring partner, Derek, and getting into my offensive position.

[Jude POV]

    I was taking a walk to go watch some of the warriors' train and I saw my luna, she was such a good fighter, much like how my mommy was. The luna reminded me of my mommy, she was young and pretty and oh so strong, I watched as the luna laid out one of our top elite warriors in one kick, “wow!” I whispered in astonishment at just how magnificent she is. Mommy would have loved to train with her, I let out a sigh as I decided to go back to the packhouse for breakfast. I found myself getting distracted by the pretty flowers in the garden when I heard a voice…

Hello Jude

“W-who’s there?” I asked looking around me scared somebody was watching me.

Silly, it’s your wolf nobody is here with us

My wolf? I’m too young to have a wolf I only just turned six today…

Mommy always said I was special was this what she meant? I could feel my eyes spark with joy.

Yes, Jude, mommy meant us being a jade wolf, go tell the luna about me she will help us, we need to shift today but we can’t do it alone.

[Amara’s POV]

    Leigha started to go crazy running around in my head, howling, just as Skyler and I were about to spar again. “Amara?” Sky asked as I looked down at her, why was she kneeling all of a sudden? I looked around and everyone around me started to kneel, “Why are you guys kneeling?” I questioned really confused, did I miss something? Brian came up and grabbed my shoulders, “Baby your eyes are glowing silver…” I was shocked I don’t know what in the goddess is going on but I need to turn this off. I closed my eyes and started to talk to Leigha,

Leigha stop whatever you are doing it’s making our friends weird

We are somebody’s protector now

I’m sorry what?

He will find us, we must protect him with our life, mother says so

Mother? As in the Moon Goddess?

I was shocked, to say the least, Well can you at least stop doing the eye thingy?

    I felt her nod and I opened my eyes, “Um, apparently I’m somebody’s protector now?” I said while looking into Brian's beautiful green eyes. “I’m sorry what?” Amber said while finally standing up, “Yeah, Leigha just told me the Moon Goddess made us somebody’s protector and that he would find us or something.” My mate just growled at the thought of some ‘he’ coming to find me. “Wait but didn’t that one voice you heard say ‘Her’?” Natalie chimed in, I shrugged my shoulders, “Honestly I don’t know but I’m somebody’s pro-“ I stopped as I sniffed the air, I could smell lilacs and I was drawn to it, not like sexually with my mate, but almost motherly, if that was possible. That’s when I saw him, the same little pup as before only now it was like I was truly seeing him, He looked like a replica of me as a child, only with green eyes and short hair. “Jude?” That was all I could muster out before he ran to me with teary eyes.

    I looked at everybody, with my jaw wide open in shock before looking back down at Jude, “Jude, sweetheart what’s this all about?” He pulled his head away and rubbed his runny nose looking at me with tears in his eyes, “M-m-my w-w-wolfff s-said t-to finnnd you.” He said between sobs, “Your wolf?” I got down to his level, confused on how a small child could have a wolf already, “Oh my goddess he’s a Jade wolf!” I heard Natalie gasp. Jude just nodded his head and took a deep breath in, before saying, “She said we have to shift today or we will never be able to shift.” I let out a loud gasp, he’s but a child how is he supposed to take the pain of shifting?

With our help, we will ease his pain

    I pulled Jude into a deep hug, I looked over to Amber with tears in my eyes and she came by my side and placed her hand on my shoulder to comfort me. “I’m sorry that you have to go through this Jude, where are your parents?” I could feel his little body tense up when Brian spoke from behind me, “He’s an orphan, the pack took him in last year after we found him hiding from rogues just outside of the pack territory, they killed his mother when they were coming here to find sanctuary.” I had no idea what to say to that so I just nodded and pulled little Jude into a tighter hug, “I will never let anything happen to you as long as I am alive,” I promised him and he hugged me tighter. My heart aches for this little boy, somehow he is expected to shift when he is so small and brittle. 

    I let out a sigh before picking Jude up into my arms, “The moon goddess would not have made you a special wolf if you could not handle it, so let’s get ready for your first shift.” I placed a kiss on his small head as I walked with everyone towards the clearing where I first shifted. It took us a while to get there but I knew this is where it should happen. I set Jude down and looked him in his eyes, “Let me know when your wolf is ready and I will shift to help you okay?” He nodded and cleared his little throat, “She says she is ready to shift luna.” I nodded and looked around for my mate, “Baby you’ve got this. I believe the moon goddess chose you for a reason to be his protector.” He gave me a gentle kiss and I turned around and shifted, not caring if my clothes got torn, but surprisingly they didn’t. I walked over to Jude and lowered my body, allowing him to grab my fur for comfort just as I heard the first pop of his bones starting to shift.
