Chapter 27In the morning, Brin was already at the platform waiting for the train when I left the house. Hoping she wasn’t mad at me, I eased an arm around her shoulder and gave her a half-hug. “Hey, you,” I said. She sniffed and didn’t look at me. “There you are. What happened yesterday?” I was prepared for this. “I left my console in class,” I told her. “You didn’t come home on the next train, though.” Without turning, she glared at me from the corner of her eye. “I know.
