I had finally been admitted to a film academy, clutching my admission letter as I rushed to my brother's office with pear soup and cold medicine, eager to share the good news. But instead, I found a girl he sponsored, who accused me of being an opportunist. She tore up my admission notice, tied me to a chair, and brutally beat me, even slashing my face with a knife. "You s**t, thinking of using Godfrey to fund your film academy dreams? Without your face, which academy would want you!" Moments later, she cooed to my brother, "Godfrey, the s**t trying to seduce you has been dealt with. How will you thank me?"

chapter 1
The days after the college entrance exam were like a wild horse broken free, spending every day with classmates, either howling in park until dawn or gaming until the world faded away. My body began to protest, catching a cold with a throat that burned like fire. That day, I was dozing off when I heard the news of my admission letter's arrival. I snapped awake, eager to share the news with my brother. As I turned to grab my phone, our housekeeper approached to me. "Your throat hurts, right? I made pear soup for you." Remembering my brother's recent complaint about a sore throat, I asked her to pack a portion and grabbed some cold medicine, intending to deliver them to him. Ignoring my appearance, in pajamas with hair tied up hastily and slippers on, I rushed out. All the way, I fantasized about my brother's pride and relief upon hearing my news, the ultimate validation and encouragement. I pushed open my brother's office door, but instead of him, I found a girl my age sitting in his chair, playing with his pen and demanding, "Who are you? What do you want with Godfrey?" Suppressing the discomfort in my throat, I answered hoarsely,"I'm bringing medicine for my brother." "Brother?" she scoffed, standing abruptly and striding over, "You have no shame, calling him brother?" Before I could react, she snatched the pear soup from me. Off-balance, I fell to the ground. As I tried to stand, she kicked me, sending pain through my stomach. She unscrewed the thermos, her face twisted in disgust, "You made pear soup, but Godfrey wouldn't touch what a s**t like you made." Without waiting, she poured the scalding soup over me. I screamed, the sound ridiculous in my raw throat. She laughed at my misery, "You look like a drowned rat." The spots where the soup hit burned fiercely, my hands already red. I wanted to explain, but the pain silenced me. A knock came, and the secretary entered. I realized my brother had a new secretary, one I hadn't met. "Miss. ‌Williams, sorry, I was in the restroom. Was there any strange person who broke in?" "Nothing, just a wild woman trying to seduce Godfrey. I'm teaching her a lesson," She replied. The secretary glanced at me and smiled at her, "Mr. Evans is so handsome, many women do throw themselves at him. But you are the only student he sponsors. You must be special in his heart." Sponsor? It hit me then, my brother had mentioned sponsoring a poor student, one who bore a slight resemblance to me. "Of course!" Daphne preened, "Godfrey's support has long been more than ordinary. He sends me many designer clothes." Those were the ones I bought on a whim and never wore. She kicked me again as I tried to rise. "Unlike some freeloaders, Godfrey wouldn't even glance at you." A head poked in from the door, advising, "Miss. ‌Williams, you can't beat people in Mr. Evans's office. He won't be pleased." Daphne shoved her, "Who are you? Godfrey allows me to rest in his office. I am the future Mrs. Evans. Dare you oppose me?" The secretary remarked, "Miss. ‌Williams, she looks a bit like you." Daphne squatted, scrutinizing my face, and sneered, "You s**t, using a face somewhat like mine to seduce Godfrey, I'll beat you until you're unrecognizable!" Blows rained on me, leaving me gasping. I croaked, "Godfrey is my brother!" She paused, still disdainful, "Your brother? Godfrey has sponsored me for ten years, and I've never heard of him having a sister." She turned to the secretary, "Have you heard of it?" The secretary shook her head. "I've been working for nearly two months, never heard of it." I gritted my teeth, explaining through the pain, "You've only worked for two months, and I've been busy with college exams, never coming to the company." The secretary picked up my fallen admission notice, reading my name, "Doreen Godfrey..." Seeing my shared surname, she hesitated, about to persuade Daphne.
