Savion slid out of bed early the next morning to shower. “Leaving already?” Armarria turned over groggily. “Going on my morning run. You are more than welcome to join me.” Armarria rose slightly. “Sure. Will the kids be alright here by themselves?” “We will stay inside the gate if they need me I will be able to get to them.” He held his hand out to help her out of bed. She accepted, allowing him to lead her into the bathroom. She caught glimpse of herself in the mirror. Her hair was all over her head and there were love bites on her breast. Proof that she hadn’t been dreaming and Savion was real. He kissed the top of her head. “You look beautiful.” She wanted to object, but she promised no negative talk. She just remained quiet as he ran the shower. They stepped in and allowed the shower to soothe their bodies. “I was thinking..” Armarria blurted. “Yes?” “I should really focus on my telekinesis and open my mind more. If I made the whole room float without getting nose bleeds by accident, maybe I’ve just been overthinking it.” Savion smiled. “You will learn eventually.” He began rubbing the soap on the towel to bathe her, slightly massaging her body. She moaned softly. “Savion you sure are good with your hands.” She complimented giving in to the feeling as he massaged her back. “I believe you told me that already when I told you I built this house.” He laughed. “Yes, well it shows. You are a gentle giant.” She turned to face him. “So how long did it take you to build the house?” “Less than six months. Shadow and the kids helped every now and then, but it helped calm me down. I will build more eventually.” Armarria looked impressed. “Did you cut the pieces yourself?” He began to bathe himself. “Of course. I could not afford to hire contractors.” He teased. “Because of money? How do you guys get money here anyways?” He laughed again. “We invested in stocks of David’s choosing. He is a good computer whiz. He uses a fake name to hide our identity from anyone who might go snooping. Of course, we do not fear intruders because of Shadow. He would have killed them all.” Armarria didn’t find the joke funny. “What is his deal with people? Not every human on the planet is bad.” Savion sighed. “My brother and I have seen things no one else should see. We have been through things together and some apart. Shadow means well. It is just all about safety with him, and that is the realm we built ourselves on. We have been surviving this long without the Cloak capturing us again. The last house we stayed in we barely made it out alive. The Cloak had found us because we were careless.” Flashback Shadow walked into the three bedroom apartment wounded. “Savion!” David ran into the room. His head snapped up. He felt the surge of power flowing through his body. He quickly grabbed the baby. Sara was only three years old now. Melody ran into the room. “Not again.” She cried. Savion ran into the living room. “Shadow what happened?” Shadow had blood gushing from his side from bullet wounds. “That b***h betrayed us Savion. The landlord.” He fell to his knees. Savion quickly handed Sara to Shadow. “Brotha. Are you ok?” She touched his cheek as she did before in the lab. “Are you sure Shadow? How do you know?” Shadow’s head jerked up with anger. “It was Laura, Savion. I would not lie to you.” Savion cursed, grabbing his head, trying to figure out their next move. Jet ran in with David. “We are packed now ready to leave,” David announced. Savion nodded. Before he could make another move the front door burst open with the landlord who they befriended front and center. Savion grabbed Melody who hung close to his side then grabbed Shadow’s collar dragging him through the dining room. “s**t!” Savion took cover behind the couch. Shadow squatted down low still holding Sara close. “I told you Laura ratted us out,” Shadow said as G.E.M members began to flow into the house. “Take them Shadow,” Savion ordered. “Like last time?” Shadow objected. “We stick together or I am staying.” Savion punched through the wall grabbing a man and slamming him back against the wall hard until it broke. “f**k, Shadow! Get them out.” Shadow handed Sara to Melody. “Go to the hiding spot like we practiced. Do not come out.” Shadow didn’t wait for a confirmation saying they understood he stood up disappearing into the surroundings. Savion turned around to see Laura. “You bitch.” He reached for her but she waved her hands and Savion punched the air. Some kind of force field surrounded her pushing Savion back. He landed on his feet expertly, his eyes turning red with rage. Men grabbed Savion’s arms to hold him back. “Where’s that useless brother of yours?” One of them taunted to Savion. He just smirked. “I would not call him useless.” “They don’t move without each other. There are others as well here. Four kids he took from the facility in Toronto.” Laura commanded the troops. “You were part of them all this time. Why even be nice to us? We trusted you.” Savion gritted his teeth. “Shadow trusted you.” She laughed. “Shadow fell for anyone who would feed him. He was nice though, poor guy. Too serious maybe, but I was only supposed to get close to watch over you, nothing more. The Cloak has come to collect.” Savion laughed hysterically. “You will regret that,” Laura smirked. “Shadow won’t be able to touch me inside my force field.” Shadow shimmered into form inside her bubble. Laura turned surprised and frightened. “Shadow…” Before she could speak he lifted his sword with one small movement Laura’s head fell off her body and her force field fell. Savion jerked away from the men holding him easily, throwing them towards Shadow. With smooth clean movements, Shadow cut all the men into pieces. They moved to the next room with stealth. Savion reached for a man, quietly grabbing his neck and snapping it. His eyes turned red again as he charged the men animalistically. He tore them to pieces with his bare hands. Shadow fought them off with his blade and quick movements. “Savion.” Shadow tried to reach his brother softly. “There are more coming up the stairs. We have to get the kids and get out of here. We cannot kill them all.” Savion began pounding on the floorboard breaking the floor around him down. “Savion!” Shadow held his sword to his brother’s neck. Savion turned his eyes to him in a pure rage. “Stop this.” He removed his sword quickly to block an attack from a G.E.M they trained with. Savion stood up beside his brother. “I could not hear him,” Shadow explained before Savion asked. “It is Case, of course, he would be swift with his movements. He taught us how to move in silence.” Savion explained glaring deadly at Case. Case smirked, standing with his sword above his head. “The famous twins. You know the price on both of your heads? The Cloak wants all of you back, dead or alive.” Shadow stood in a battle stance with his sword. “Try and take them.”   Case moved quickly toward Shadow with movements faster than he could keep up with. Luckily Shadow was able to block his attack as their swords clashed. Shadow pushed forward while Case pushed back, neither moving. “You learned well. You were always the best student.” Case complimented. Savion intervened, twirl kicking Case away from Shadow. “Damn it Savion Butt out!” Shadow yelled at him. Savion smiled. “You should have left then.” He taunted, blocking Case’s kick with his arm. The force of the kick caused Savion to ground slide back as he tried to brace himself. He looked up as Case kicked him in the face sending him twirling to the ground. Shadow shook his head. “Case your fight is with me.” He swiftly ran to attack Case swinging left and right, but Case dodged all his moves. With a swift kick to his feet, Case knocked Shadow down on the ground. Before Case could pierce his flesh with his sword Shadow disappeared into his surroundings again. Case looked around for him. “Impressive. You do have a power after all.” Savion wiped the blood from his lips. “Hurry and finish this Shadow so we can leave.” He whispered knowing his twin heard him. He appeared beside Case ready to strike but Case blocked quickly, kicking Shadow away from him. Savion stood up to block the doorway in the living room. More men were trying to cave through. He cursed. “Shadow quit playing around.” With one more attack, he slashed Case through his side. “Let us go.” Shadow appeared beside Savion walking over to the hiding place the kids were at. They opened the closet and tore through the floorboard. Melody screamed. “Let us go guys.” Savion helped them out and they escaped through the window. End Flashback “That would explain why Shadow doesn’t trust people. He must’ve really loved that woman.” Armarria commented after hearing the story. Savion smiled, caressing her cheek as they dried off. “My brother is a complicated man. He is ruthless and unforgiving. You cross him once there is no mercy. Maybe he loved her. He would never tell me if he did or not.” Armarria felt sadness for Shadow. “I will go get dressed and meet you in the kitchen in about ten minutes.”  He kissed Armarria softly as she nodded. They both left the bathroom. She dressed and met Savion in the kitchen. He only had on some sweatpants and a pair of shoes, his chest was still out. She was fully dressed in tee shirt and long pants. She shook her head. “I’m ready.” Savion called to David. “Going on a run. We will be back shortly.” David poked his head out of the living room with a wave. “Try to keep up.” He opened the door and took off in a jog. His long legs were made for longer strides while Armarria’s short legs struggled to keep up. “Hey wait.” She sped up slightly but couldn’t keep up with him. Savion laughed and slowed down. “Cannot keep up?” He teased. She rolled her eyes. “Now Miss Armarria I am curious about you. What is your past like? What do you like to do for fun? What is your favorite movie?” Armarria sighed. “Well, there isn’t much to tell about my past. You know the story of the cheating ex. Nothing else much happened. I like to write poetry, go the movies, go dancing and normal stuff. My favorite movie is Charlie and the chocolate factory.” Savion looked confused. “I never heard of that movie. I will have to watch one day. I would love to read one of your poems.” Armarria smiled. “Do you have any brothers or sisters?” She sighed sadly. “I’m not sure. I can’t even remember my parents much. That part of my life is a haze.” Savion grew quiet. “Have you tried to seek help for that block on your mind?” She nodded. “I tried hypnosis but it didn’t turn out well as you may know.” Savion slowed his pace again. No sweat was on his face and he was breathing normally. Armarria, on the other hand, was panting and trying to talk was difficult. “We can take a break if you need one.” Armarria stopped running to hold her weight against a tree. “That block on your mind is concerning. A powerful telepath must be the reason.” He continued the conversation as she took a breath. “The woman who spoke to you and your dream could be the culprit.” Armarria quickly objected. “No. I think she was trying to protect me.” She didn’t know why she felt so defensive over the woman she clearly didn’t know, but deep down she knew her intentions weren’t meant to harm her. Savion scanned the area, trying to feel any G.E.M powers around or spot anything harmful. The sky was cloudy and the sun had disappeared behind them. “It’s about to storm.” Savion forecasted. Armarria’s head shot up. “You go ahead and go. I’m only slowing you down.” She said. Savion smirked. “I have an idea.” She backed away from him as he moved closer to her. “Wait I don’t like that look on your face.” Savion quickly grabbed her and threw her over his shoulder. She screamed as he took off running full speed. “I can use you as weight.” Savion joked, moving her around on his back so that her legs were wrapped around his waist. “Besides I like your legs wrapped around me.” Armarria blushed, but all she could do was wrap her arms around his neck as he began jumping over logs and mud puddles through the trail. She closed her eyes, hiding her face between his neck and his arms. Her laughter vibrated through his veins. He could feel her pure joy as he continued his run. He soon felt his own joy as he jumped higher bouncing off the tree trunks. He never had fun like that before. His run was usually quiet and relaxing. It gave him time to think, but never had it been as joyous as it was with her. “You are changing me.” He spoke out loud coming to a halt. He gently placed her down so he could turn to her. He caressed her cheeks as he stared into her deep brown eyes. “Is that a good thing?” she asked, a little worried. Savion laughed at her uncertainty. He never answered her. He leaned down and took over her lips with his. She wrapped her arms around his neck to deepen the kiss. Savion easily stood up straight bringing Armarria eye level with him, holding her waist for support. “I admit it will be rather hard having you around me all the time.” She laughed as she could feel his hard-on against her thighs. “Maybe you should stop kissing me so passionately and things won’t be so hard.” She nuzzled his nose as he laughed. “Maybe.” He agreed. “But I will not stop kissing you. You are very addicting.” He placed her back on the ground as drops of water began to fall. “We should head back. The kids should be eating breakfast and getting ready for training by now.” Savion squatted so Armarria could jump on his back. Once she adjusted herself on him, he took off running back towards the house. A couple weeks later it was the Fourth of July weekend. Melody, Sara, and Armarria watched the fireworks on the big screen in the living room. Sara jumped every time a firework popped. “I want some fireworks to pop Miss Armarria.” She jumped up and down. Armarria sighed. “I don’t think your brothers would approve sweetie. Fireworks could draw too much attention.” “Not if we could go out somewhere else and pop them.” Sara persisted. “We can’t leave the house Sara so just cut it out.” Melody chimed in annoyed. “Melody,” Sara whispered as Melody stood and walked out of the room. Armarria stood to go after her, but Sara began to cry. “I didn’t mean to hurt her.” She sobbed. Armarria held the little girl close. “She is just scared to leave the safety of the house, Sara. It is not your fault.” Savion walked in probably because he felt Armarria’s worry for Melody. “What happened, Sara?” He asked as softly to her as he could. “I made Melody run away.” She cried. Savion took her hand. “We should go apologize to her then right?” She nodded as she began to walk with Savion to Melody’s room. Armarria followed them. Sara knocked softly on Melody’s door. “Melody? Big Sister, I’m sorry.” She said sweetly. Melody opened the door. “I didn’t mean to hurt your feelings.” Melody sighed. “You didn’t.” She walked away to her bed. Savion intervened. “Melody your little sister is trying to apologize to you.” “I know. I’m not mad at her. I’m madder at me. I…I still can’t leave. I don’t want to leave. I never want to go outside.” Savion opened his mouth. The rage inside of him was building. Armarria grabbed his hand to calm him down. “Can you guys give me and Melody some time alone?” he requested. Armarria nodded and grabbed Sara’s hand as they went back downstairs. “Am I in trouble?” Melody asked.   Savion sat on the bed beside her. “Those men at the lab can no longer hurt you, Melody. It pains me that I was so close to your room and could not stop…” Melody placed her hand on top of his. “I know you would’ve been there. You are here with me now.” Savion held her small hand. “What sparked this topic of going outside?” “Going to pop fireworks.” “Aww, I see. Is that what you want to do?” Melody thought for a moment. “I know Sara and David will love it. I wouldn’t mind if miss Armarria is there.” Savion smiled. “She will be. Where else would she be besides with you guys?” Melody nodded. “She’s nice and I like here a lot.” “Yeah me too.” Her eyes lit up as she leaned towards Savion as if about to tell him a secret. “Do you love her?” Savion leaned back away from her playfully. “Why does that excite you?” She shrugged. “Maybe my brother being happy in love makes me happy too.” He pinched her cheek. “Cute and good answer.” He stood up. “I will go get some fireworks and perhaps we can pop them in the field away from the house, but close enough to the city. It does kill me not being able to give you kids a normal life. Maybe this could be the start.” Melody jumped up. “I’m still afraid to leave, but I do want to see the fireworks. I will go tell the others.” She ran out of the room down the hallway. Savion smiled at her being brave and strong. “Savion’s going to go get fireworks.” he heard Melody saying to the others. David walked out the room looking for Savion. He walked up to him uncertainly. “Savion, Shadow won’t approve of this.” Savion laughed softly. “I know David. I will only be gone for a second. There is nothing to worry about.” He patted David’s head while walking away. He walked downstairs to Armarria and Sara. “I will be right back. Keep the kids safe until I get back.” He said to Armarria. She stood from the couch, nervous. “Me? Savion I could barely pick up a drink can across the room. I’m not sure if I can.” He kissed her pouting lips. “Your powers have improved do not doubt yourself. I know if anything were to happen you will do your best to protect them. I hope nothing so drastic will happen, but I trust you and David to know what to do.” He grabbed his keys. Sara waved to him as he walked out of the house. Armarria looked behind her to see all the kids in the living room with her now. Even she was afraid for them. They had never been without a guardian. Shadow was always watching over them or Savion and now neither was there. She could feel the dread within them, especially Melody. “He will be back. He promised.” Armarria said to lighten their dreary moods. “Let’s watch the fireworks until then.” She patted the couch for them to join her.   Savion drove to the nearest fireworks tent which happened to be fifteen minutes away driving normal speed on the highway. He scanned the area as always before getting out of the car. The sun was beginning to set in the sky which caused an eerie scene in this no light highway. He walked up to the tent. An old man was in the front, happy to have a customer. “Yes, sir. Come on in! We have all the fireworks you could ever think of.” He greeted. Savion followed up with a friendly smile. “Thank you.” He looked around for a moment until his phone rang. He looked at the caller id this time thinking it to be Armarria calling him, but it was his brother. “Shadow.” He greeted. “Savion, I have some news I cannot share with you over the phone. I have the name of the fifth member of the Cloak.” Savion became worried. “When are you coming home?” “As soon as I can get a flight. It is packed here for the fourth weekend.” Savion sighed. “I fear this information is not to my liking at all.” Shadow scoffed. “It is not. It deals with your woman.” Savion’s eyes bucked open. “What? What does Armarria have to with any of this?” His voice was becoming rash as the anger rose. “Watch her brother. She has too many secrets.” Before Savion could respond, he felt her. Armarria’s fear shot through him like a bullet. Then it all vanished as quickly as it started. Savion took off running to his car, cursing, and regretting. He couldn’t have been gone for more than ten minutes before something happened. He sped off back towards the house.   Armarria and the kids heard a noise in the kitchen. “What was that?” David stood up first holding Melody close to him. Armarria turned towards the door. The noise rang out again. It sounded as if someone was throwing a pebble at the window. “Stay here together. I will go see what it is.” Armarria bravely stood up, but before she could walk out the door David grabbed her hand. “Miss Armarria we should all stay together. Savion wouldn’t want us to split up. I can check the cameras.” Before David could check the cameras in his mind Armarria sighed then gasped. The window shattered with a loud crash. Jet held onto her leg. “I have to see what that is. Close the door and lock it.” “No!” Melody shouted. “I can go see.” Before anyone could protest she fell limp on the couch. “What is she doing?” Armarria began to panic. “She’s astral projecting,” David replied, sounding proud. “She will let us know who is out there. There is interference on the cameras” Armarria bit her bottom lip. This would happen while Savion was away. She thought. “It’s a man out there.” Melody came back into her body surprising them. Armarria jumped. “He must be trying to break in.” Armarria pushed the kids back away from the door. Sara screamed. “Watch out Miss Armarria!” She turned around to see a familiar face, but then saw black as something hit her over the head. Armarria opened her eyes slowly as her head felt as if a train had hit her. She looked around for the kids. “Sara! Melody! Jet!” She cried out. “David!” She noticed she was outside in the backyard. The kids beside her on the patio except for Sara. David was holding Jet back as Melody hid behind him. “Where is Sara?” She looked around and saw Ryan holding Sara in his arms. She stood up quickly, confused and dizzy. “Ryan?” She spoke as non-threatening as possible. “Let Sara go.” Ryan grabbed Sara’s cheeks and squeezed painfully. “You left me in your motel to die Mia.” Tears sprung out of Sara’s eyes, causing David to grit his teeth ready to attack him. “Stop this. You don’t know what you are doing.” Armarria held her own tears back. “Why do you cry for them?” Armarria shook her head. “I’m crying for you Ryan. Savion is going to kill you. Do you understand that?” Ryan laughed. “Your new boyfriend? He won’t be able to do anything with my new strength. I met one of his old friends and he told me everything. How he went insane and killed all those innocent men.” “They weren’t innocent!” Melody screamed. “He killed over a hundred men Armarria, and that’s who you give a chance to?” “It’s about to be a hundred and one men.” Savion walked up behind Ryan, eyes red with fury. His posture slumped over slightly ready to attack at any moment. Ryan turned his head to him, giving Armarria a chance to free Sara. She focused as she did in the training sessions with them, imagining herself holding Ryan’s hands and pulling them apart from Sara. His hands started to move apart on his own as Armarria made the gesture of pulling. He looked over at her, hurt, as the little girl dropped from his arms. “Sara run this way!” David yelled. She obeyed sprinting to the balcony, jumping into his arms, holding him tight. Armarria continued her hold on Ryan. “What have you done Ryan?” Ryan’s arms began to spread wider. “Raul sent me to tell you he is coming for you, Mia. He doesn’t care about your boyfriend or anybody else.” Savion pushed Ryan down and stepped on his back, painfully. “Raul is dead.” He pushed his foot into his back deeper. Ryan only laughed. “He made me like you. He took me from the hospital and told me all about you Savion. I told him to make me twice as strong so no one will take my woman away from me again.” Ryan’s eyes turned black, covering his entire pupil. His muscles began to pop out of his body as he transformed. Savion jumped away from his back towards the kids and Armarria. Feeling responsible she began to walk forward toward Ryan, but Savion turned to her with his bloodshot eyes. Her heart broke looking at him. She could see the beast he was talking about. He was emotionless and full of rage. Even as controlled as he was, she felt the darkness within him taking control. He was going to kill Ryan and there was no stopping him. “Stay back.” He warned causing her to pause in her tracks. “Savion.” She whispered, wanting to bring the man she grew to love back, but he was gone. His eyes turned back to Ryan getting off the ground, muscles filled and bulky. He stood toe to toe with Savion in height but his physic was nowhere near Savion’s. Savion stood in place while Ryan ran to him, throwing a right punch once he got close enough. Savion caught the blow with little effort. Ryan tried to push him back with his useless strength. “Raul tricked you. You will never be like me.” Ryan threw back a left hook angry at his comment, connecting his fist to his jaw. Savion’s face turned slightly with a smirk on his face. He drew his arm back and punched Ryan in his jaw sending him flying backward. Ryan grunted as he stood. With as much strength as he could gather, Ryan began punching the ground. “Damn you!” he screamed, grabbing a log, throwing it towards Savion. Savion jumped, punching through the log until it split in two. Ryan appeared at the end of the log, throwing more uncoordinated punches towards Savion.  He dodged them easily. He grabbed Ryan’s arm, twisting it until it cracked. Savion continued pulling until the arm was ripped from the body. Armarria covered Jet and Sara’s eyes while David covered Melody’s. Armarria had to close her eyes herself as the scene became gruesome. Ryan’s scream echoed through the trees. “Where is Raul?” Savion’s voice was demonic, deep, and threatening. Ryan continued to fight, kicking his leg this time. Savion dodged that attack as well as he kicked his shin causing it to crack as well. Ryan fell on the ground humiliated. “f**k you. Mia will never forgive you if you kill me.” Savion’s eyes darted up to her. Tears were falling from her face. A sight that should’ve broke his heart, but then he saw David’s black eye. Rage took over as he snapped his leg out of place and off his body as well. Blood spilled everywhere. It covered Savion as he continued to torture him. “No one touches them. Tell Raul hi when I send him back to hell with you.” He snapped his neck, violently ending it all for Ryan. Armarria ran inside the house as sickness began to form in her stomach. Savion had just violently killed Ryan in front of her. Even if he did deserve it and she knew it was coming, she thought Savion would’ve shown him mercy. How was she supposed to live with the man who slaughtered her ex?
