39 A Girl And Her Dream

1503 Words
He halted and make his motorcycle disappear before he looked around where the growling was coming from, but there was nothing.   Shrugging, he moved to the last one he decided to spy, and it was a house beside his. He had never heard of someone who lived there, but he still decided to check.   There, he found an orb. Someone actually lived there.   He cupped his hands on the dream orb and watched the person’s dream.   And it was a woman’s dream. He had never seen her before nor heard about her moving next door. It was either she was as busy as him that she could barely be outside, or he didn’t have any idea that someone moved there. Or maybe, he was too busy to realize someone was living there.   In the dream, the woman was roaming around a grassy field. The field was filled with flowers and other beautiful botanical plants.   She was looking at each plant and flowers, speaking something he thought was poems.   Then, she continued to walk ahead until she was on top of a hill, the panorama of a ruined city came to his vision. It made him raise an eyebrow. He could tell it could be interesting.   It was also interesting for Peter to see how the scenes changed as if she was a dreamlord.   But he thought back if she was, she probably knew he was spying her dream.   Suddenly, a gun appeared in her hand. It was FN P90, something he had never seen before.   She walked down the hill and there, a monster truck was parked. After looking around, she opened the door to the driver’s seat and closed it when she had entered.   Peter found that moment quite charismatic. It was as if he was watching a movie.   He watched as she started driving a little carelessly. He chuckled a little.   Then, the woman looked back, only for Peter to see that he had been chased by zombies.   Well, it wasn’t what he expected. He thought it was just the end of the world, but he didn’t think it was the typical zombie apocalypse dream.   He stayed for some time to see what could happen.   When she was downtown, there appeared to be hundreds of zombies. The woman didn’t hesitate to bulldoze them off with her monster truck. He exclaimed when zombies’ whole body or limbs was thrown away every time she hit them.   However, the struggle started to rise. Because there were so many zombies in front of her, the monster truck was stuck with a lot of zombies in front of her. So she came out of the monster truck, firing her gun crazily while running.   He wanted to interrupt, but he just watched her for now.   He watched as she ran to the alleys, streets, killing every zombie that came to her mercilessly.   A group of zombies ran to her and suddenly mobbed her. He thought she was about to be eaten, but she was quick enough to kill them with her gun. However, the sound of gunshots could be heard by nearby zombies, so they were slowly gathering to where she was.   She quickly ran until she was in an abandoned building.   She climbed the stairs to the rooftop and locked the door, watching the building being surrounded by zombies. She was about to reload her gun, but she was only left with one mag enough to reload the gun.   She still reloaded her gun and silently waited there until the zombies would go away.   While she was on the rooftop, she searched for anything she could use.   A lot of scraps had scattered there, old tables, woods, random irons, and all trashy things from the office. There was a doll there, which Peter found strange.   But then again, learning that things on one’s dream could be a thing the dreamer cherished the most, hate the most, or something the person randomly saw somewhere.   She found a few cardboards there, so she collected them and took a stranded packaging tape she happened to find there.   She started wrapping her arm with a few cardboard and secured it with the tape. He moved on to her other arm and decided she had to cover her legs as well.   Watching everything, Peter concluded she must be a fan of the zombie genre or anything about Biological Hazards.   She also showed skills in survival, which impressed him more.   She then started scanning the place silently, watching over the edge of the rooftop to check and see if the zombies were still there. Many were surrounding the building, and some started entering the building.   There were sudden thuds on the rooftop door.   “They’re here,” she whispered, and Peter found her voice attractive.   He was never always a fan of zombie apocalypse movies or books. When he was, he was picky about the things he watched and read. If the synopsis didn’t impress his taste, then he wouldn’t bother reading it.   But seeing the woman’s dream was something very familiar yet unusual to him. He started to think zombie apocalypse and any genres that fit the genre wasn’t bad at all.   And he could say, the woman had full control over her dream. He wondered if she was possibly training to be a dreamlord.   He would be shocked if she turned out to be an actual dreamlord.   There was a sword behind stacked rusty metal tables. Well, it was a dream after all. Some things could randomly pop out of nowhere. It was one of the uncontrollable things in the world unless the person was skilled or someone who could simply control their dream.   The sword was katana, its case was old and the paint was fading.   Every sword required different skills since they came from different cultures. Also, they came in different forms and weights. However, based on Peter’s experience, if you got used to one sword, it could be easy to learn how to use another one.   She roamed around and looked for something. By watching how she was moving quickly to find things, she must’ve come up with a plan.   She uncovered some empty decomposing boxes on a corner and found old rope there. She looked around as if to find something, then she looked back to the rope before she picked it up.   Using the katana, she cut about a meter there and tied it on her waist. Peter didn’t understand what she was doing but seeing she made few knots there, he assumed it was some kind of holster where she could hold her weapons.   She then started to spread the rope, as if to measure its length.   He observed her as she took one of the ends of the rope and tied it tightly on a metal pole near the door and checked if it was tight enough.   She then started tying the other end on the best metal chair she could find there.   He watched as she started dragging the metal chair to the edge of the rooftop, which shook him.   He was about to enter her dream and interrupt the possible stupidity that could run on her head. Like, planning to jump off the building and get killed by the zombies below but he saw her throw the chair on the rooftop of another building.   The metal chair perfectly fell on the other rooftop. She pulled the tie and it locked on the rooftop railings.   The line of rope was loose, but it wasn’t too low to reach down the third floor. Peter was quite astonished. If it was another dream, the rope wouldn’t work, something bad could happen or the rope will suddenly untie.   The thud and thump on the door had just started to get intense, which made her look at the rooftop door.   She took the belt from her pants and placed it over the rope. She checked if the gun and sword were tied perfectly on her improvised holster.   She twisted her wrist in a motion to wrap the ends of her belt around her hands for a better grip. Looking below the zombies looking up at her, she grimaced before she looked ahead, closed her eyes, and sighed.   She braced herself and held tightly on the belt, testing how it would slip.   After one last look down at the zombies, she jumped and held her breath in case she accidentally fell to a three-floor drop.   She felt the belt smoothly glided over the rope, and she was nearly reaching the railings. She smiled and sighed in relief.   But then she heard the rooftop door burst open, so she looked behind shortly to see zombies now on top of the building where she came from.   The zombies started shaking the rope, but fortunately, she was finally on the railing of the new rooftop she’d stay before moving on another one.   She climbed up the railings and when she saw the zombie intelligently used the rope to try and follow her, she had to cut the rope.   When she was stepping on the rooftop, she drew the katana and cut the rope.   Meanwhile, Peter suddenly heard the same growl earlier. It wasn’t from the dream, it was actually from outside.   The growling continued, so he had to let go of the dream orb to see what it was, thinking it could be a monster.
