8 Lost in time cycle?

1470 Words
Peter had no choice but to run away from the villa as far as he could, so he ran by the cemented trail to reach the foot of the mountain where a motel was.   In the dark forest, he could see pairs of glowing red eyes while hearing multiple rustling sounds. Thinking that if he stopped he’d be killed, he continued to run away.   But without seeing the whole forest, he didn’t know there was a steep cliff coming on his way. When he stepped over nothing, he fell over the cliff and screamed as he rolled down the mountain.   Seeing nothing but darkness, he braced himself, and just then, he hit himself to a big rock down the mountain.   Just then, everything went black.   He opened his eyes to the sound of a blasting alarm followed by a groan from someone.   The first thing that came to his vision was the popcorn ceiling. He was in their dorm.   Rubbing his eyes, he sat down to turn off the alarm on his phone that had a reminder, “Job fair today!” He swiped his finger to dismiss the alarm. He looked down to the lower bunk bed and saw Josh’s leg hanging by the edge of the bed and snoring.   Everything felt like a déjà vecu to Peter. He would say it was déjà vu if it only felt like he had seen it before, but it was more like he already experienced it. Thus, déjà vecu.   He prepared to then leave the dorm and prepare himself for the job fair.   As he’d gone for the day, everything felt weirdly familiar.   The scent of the woman he just passed by, the clouds up the sky, and the aftertaste of the coffee he just had in the morning.   He also could recall forgetting to pay the cab out of nervousness for the job fair interview, and helping an old woman cross the street.   Even the way his heart bounced when he was nearly hit by the bicycle was in the oddest way familiar.   He thought he was experiencing something weird like he had become a psychic.   Time passed and he arrived back on the dormitory after the job fair.   When he arrived at the room he shared with Josh, he opened the door and saw that Zack and Ray were in there as well. “What’s all this mess?” He asked them.   It suddenly felt like something hit him in the head when he realized everything was strangely familiar. He knew something else was going on.   He was panicking, so he tried to calm himself first and think about what’s really happening.   After talking with his friends saying the same thing as he would remember, he realized he must be stuck in a time loop.   He thought that somehow, he ended up being stuck at that particular day until he could figure out what he would do to escape the time loop.   Or maybe it wasn’t a time loop.   While they were talking about how peter could’ve done the interview, Peter noticed small details around the room. Because they were in the background, he wasn’t able to realize that some things weren’t clear.   The wall clock was not moving and stuck at six o’clock, a pen on the pen holder looked blurred, there were no crumbs on the floor and there should be because Zack would always leave a trace of crumbs from his food.   He noticed the details on their clothes and they looked like they were rotated horizontally.   Peter thought what theory it would be to fit everything he had noticed. The time loop was crossed out of his theory because no matter how much the day would repeat, the detail should be consistent.   One thing that came to his mind that could support his theory was a dream.   That’s right. It felt like a dream. He thought.   And he definitely was in a dream. He was dreaming, but he didn’t know how to wake himself up.   He tried to think how to solve the problem and by doing that, he had to figure out where everything went wrong. He started to try and remember what had happened so far.   A lawyer told Josh about the will and Edgar Lee left him an inheritance. They decided to go to the villa. They saw the note from Josh’s uncle then they went down the basement   They discovered the three rooms of the basement room. He discovered the book.   The Book of Dimension. Now that he thought about it, he couldn’t think of anything else better that the Book of Dimension being the reason why he was in that situation. It must’ve been the reason why he was experiencing such an unusual event.   He recalled that they decided to summon creatures using a basic summoning circle. Skeleton, green goblin.   Green goblin. He remembered he summoned it but never saw anything but a neon green bubble outside the circle. If he had summoned a goblin but now he was on a dream, what could it be that he summoned?   Dream goblin? He thought. For now, he settled aside from the thought of whatever it was that he actually summoned.   He came up with a decision and plan.   He suddenly stood up and looked at the three who looked rather confused.   “Where are you going, Peter?” Josh asked. Peter looked at Josh, thinking about a plan.   “What’s wrong?” Ray asked.   “Peter?” Zack called his name. It was definitely a dream. It was weird to get sudden attention from the three. Besides, knowing them, one of them will take every opportunity to joke.   The look on their eyes wasn’t the same as what he mostly saw.   Ignoring them, Peter walked to the door. He ran out to the hallway and opened every door of the dorm.   When he reached the last door, it led to the villa.   One glance behind him, he entered the door and walked towards the villa. The villa looked the same, but not really the same.   He entered the villa without a second thought.   Peter knew the dream goblin could be around but he couldn’t locate it. A vague plan popped up in his head.   He had been following what was happening in the dream, but never tried to act out of it. So he did.   He started to walk towards the living room and ruined every little thing out of its place. As expected, he heard someone following him. He looked around but never found anything else.   He continued to roam around and walked down to the basement. When he finally got there. He scoffed. “Never the same,” he commented as he looked down the concrete floor with summoning circle which didn’t even look closely the same as the original.   He saw a levitating box of flour from the floor and spread it all over the place to cover the fake summoning circle. It wasn’t even glowing like the one they used.   Peter waited for a few moments to wait for the dream goblin to show itself but it never showed even an inch of its shadow.   He walked upstairs and walked to the kitchen. He saw something like a sack there and took it. The moment he did, a creature appeared before his eyes.   The dream goblin.   Unlike the last one Zack had summoned, the one that appeared was petite and had jumpsuit-like ragged clothes. Its face was round and had a small but pointy nose, and had a small pair of ears.   It didn’t look quite intimidating, but the dream goblin had sent him to a dream and he couldn’t get out. Which meant, the goblin wasn’t something he should take easy on.   “Give me that,” the dream goblin warned him in its little voice. Like Peter expected, it spoke the Orrinatta language. He almost laughed at the voice, though. It sounded so little for him to feel a bit of his intimidation.   Peter didn’t listen and took whatever it was inside. A small pellet of gold.   He looked at the goblin who looked suddenly nervous. Peter brought it near his mouth. “Tell me what’s happening, and I’ll give this back to you. Don’t do anything funny, or else I’ll swallow this,” he warned back.   He wasn’t sure what he was doing, but the warning he had creatively created just made the dream goblin anxious. That small gold piece must’ve been precious to the dream goblin.   The dream goblin started to breathe heavily while gesturing its hands to tell Peter to calm down. “I’m a dream goblin! You summoned me and I brought you to your dream.”   Peter was confused. “Dream goblin? I summoned a green goblin, not a dream goblin.”   The dream goblin was surprised and suddenly lost his train of thought. “Wait, you’re a beginner?”   “Beginner?” Peter asked.   The dream goblin shook its head. “Forget it. You really seemed like one,” the dream goblin said with its little voice. “It seems like you don’t know the true nature of summoning, so let me explain it to you.”   The dream goblin who was actually named Wiboe jumped on the kitchen counter to sit there and explained the surprising truth about the true nature of summoning.
