(Graduation from the university)
Twenty years later, Michael finally graduated from the university and now become a “Certified Doctor”. He had become a full-grown man and his mom is so proud of him. Michael was on a call with his mom when a friend of his 'Mercy' who was closer to him and Kenny called out his name.
"Michael! Michael! Michael! Come here let's take pictures" She called out
"Just a minute please" Michael replied
He hung the phone up a few mins later after he was done talking to his mom and rushed to take pictures with Mercy and Kenny. They took a whole lot of pictures alongside some of their friends, Gabriel the photographer was on the camera doing a very great job. They were all in a happy mood and celebrated all day long.
"Thanks for the pictures, Mr. Gabriel" Mercy said
"No need to thank me Mercy, it is my work." He replied with a smile.
"Sure, and you are very good at it." Kenny said, "Ensure my head is well-positioned before you will chase my future wives away with just my graduation picture" Kenny added
"Wives? How many do you want to marry at a young age?" Michael retorted
"As many wives, Solomon married," Kenny replied
"Women might end up being your downfall," Michael said referring to him
We all laughed out loud.
"So why don't we get a vibing place to hang around after we are done here? Y'all know this day is special and we have to make it memorable." Mercy said
"Where do you suggest we go hang out?" Michael asked
"I got a place in mind though, if y'all would like to hear it out?" Kenny said
"Hope it's not where I am thinking?" Michael replied suspiciously
"Micheal," He called out "Must you always have my spot in mind?" Kenny asked
"Well, I am your best friend. So yes, I always will." He replied
"Alright then, if that be the case we would go to your favorite spot. And I hope it's lively?" Mercy asked
"Trust me when I say it is" Michael replied
We all laughed out loud as we walked down to Kenny's favorite spot to chill out for the rest of the day.
After their graduation that very day, Michael planned on traveling home to break the good news to his mom and how he had strived through crises to come out as the best student of the year having a top-notch result as a first-class upper. He got home safe and sound the next day and saw his mom sewing. Veronica had learned how to sow years back as a means of survival for us. She had sighted him the moment he got in, Michael hurriedly gave his mom a big hug and they both exchanged pleasantries. His mom portrayed her dancing steps and celebrated grace upon her son's life on his new achievement.
"You and this your funny dance steps mom, you've not changed," Michael said laughing out loud
"Let me dance the steps for my son, at least it is worths it." She replied
They both laughed out loud
"My son!" She called out
"Yes mom" Michael answered
"I am so proud of the man you have become, I am glad you've chosen to bring happiness to my heart." She said
"Mom, I would never want to hurt you in any way. I had promised myself a long time ago that I will make you proud no matter what," He said "I am happy that I fulfilled my promise and I bless God for the Grace he has given me right from my childhood." He added
"My God will favor you, He will bless you, He will lift you, I am grateful for having you into my life." She cried out
"Amen mom, it's okay. Cry no more for the days of lamentation has come to an end." Michael assured her as he softly wipe her tears off her cheeks
"I will cry my son, as long it's tears of Joy." She said
"I love you, mom." Michael cut in with a smile
"I love you too my son." She replied
She was so happy that her son had finally graduated and would fully take care of her as a grandmother would take care of her grandson. A few minutes later; she recalled her daughter Mitchell, Michael's twin sister, and burst into tears. Instead, she mentioned how she had suffered for him trying to beat around the bush, Michael suddenly grabbed her by the hands and asked;
"Mom, what's wrong? Why are you crying again?" Michael asked
"Only if the people know how hard I have suffered for you," She cried out "I have toured day and night and I'm happy you didn't disappoint me. Now I can eat the fruit of my labor in peace." She added
"Mom, you shouldn't be thinking much." Michael said "Your health matters right now and you know I am all you got. I am now a graduate and by God's Grace we would be fine." He added
They both stared at each other and smiled
Michael assured her that everything is going to be alright as he was now a fully certified doctor. He would go out there and seek a job in a big hospital. Michael always dreamt of having a hospital. He had promised himself that with time he will build a well-known and respected hospital and make his mother proud.
"Mom, I got a lot of gist for you," Michael said
"Of course, you should have a lot." She replied excitedly
"Come check this out, mom." He drew her attention closer as he brought his phone out
"Is this not, hmm..." She tries remembering
"Mercy mom, that's her name" He reminded her
"Mercy!!! The girl you talked about the other day" cuts in
We both laughed out loud.
"Yes, she is," Michael replied
"Mom" He called out
"Yes, my son" She replied
"How come you've never talked about my father?" Michael asked eagerly
"Please son, don't talk about your father. Let's enjoy this moment, he is not welcomed in here." She replied angrily
Michael stared at her as she kept on scrolling through his gallery, he had so many questions to ask about his family background, but his mom kept quenching the discussion. Michael was about to raise it again, not until he remembered that she’s not in the right state of mind to answer questions. He kept it to himself until the right time would come.
