Episode 2
Sarah was in the living room, she is a businesswoman who happens to own fortunes of goods in different warehouses. She is an economist as well, she was wondering about the whereabouts of her best friend Veronica with her son Michael, who is the twin brother of Mitchell, who she adopted as her daughter. It’s been twenty years ever since they both loosed contact with each other. Sarah and her husband had moved to another city called 'Coast' months later after they had adopted Mitchell. She was soliloquizing when her phone rang, it was her husband calling.
"Hello honey," She said
"Hello my love, how're you doing?" He asked
"I'm good," She replied "How is work in the US?" She asked
"Work is moving perfectly well down here." He replied
"That's great to hear," I said
"Is Mitchell home yet?" He asked
"Not yet but I suppose she should be on her way," She replied "She called yesterday that she would come home today," I said
"Oh! That's good." He replied
"Send my best wishes to her when she gets back, I love you." He said
"Alright, I will." She replied "Love you too," I said
A few minutes after she had hung up the phone, Mitchell came in. She had got back from school, she had signed out from the University a day ago.
"Mummy, I am home." She announced her arrival
Mitchell ran towards her mom and hugged her so dearly with so much Joy-filled in her; she observed her mother’s face not being okay. She sat her mom down and asked;
"Mom, is everything okay with you?"
"Of course my beautiful Angel, everything is just fine. She replied with a smile
"Congratulations on your final year graduation, you’re now a Certified Doctor”.
"They both smiled at each other with a beautiful look on their faces."
Kingsley, who is Sarah’s husband, is not home. Kingsley is a busy man. He mainly travels out for different legal businesses. He ensures his family is well stable in money.
"Mom is dad home?" Mitchell asked
"No, your dad is not home." She replied, " I just finished speaking with him a few minutes before your appearance. You know your dad's kind of work, he never stays long at home." She said
"I miss him so much," Mitchell voiced out
"He sends his affections to you," She said
"Your father will be so proud of you, my dear." She said to comfort her
"I am proud of you both too, you are the best parents in the world." Mitchell acknowledged both parents
"God bless the day you were born and handed over to us." Her mom said in a low tone
"Handed over?" She asked rhetorically
"Mummy handed over like how?" Still confused
"I am your daughter, am I not? She asked anxiously
"I meant when you were being born and I held you closely," Sarah replied trying to beat around the bush.
"Oh! That." Mitchell smiled
She wasn’t still comfortable with the statement her mom uttered.
"I’m sure I was so cute when I was being brought into this world," Mitchell added
"You should have seen yourself when you were tiny," She said "You cried almost every second"
"Mom, it's normal for a baby to cry every second" Mitchell replied "And it must be because I don't want you to leave my side," Mitchell said
They both laughed.
"I hope the journey wasn't that stressful?" She asked
"It was mom, the traffic was bad." She replied, "One had to sit for extra hours"
"Sorry my dear," She patted her, "It's always like that during the new month." She said
"How did the ceremony go?" She asked, "I'm sorry I couldn't make it down." She pleaded
"It's fine mom, the ceremony went well." She replied
"Mom, did you later go for the check-up at the hospital?" Mitchell asked
"I did, I met with Dr. Kay." She replied
"That's nice," Mitchell said "So, hope you're fully okay now?" Mitchell asked
"Yes my Angel, I am." She replied
"Thank God" Mitchell muted with a sign of relieve
"Guess what?" Her mom said
"You know I'm not good at this guessing thing or did you win the lottery" Mitchell replied
They both laughed
"It's something special than winning a lottery," She said
"Tell me, mom, I am craving to hear it already" Mitchell replied anxiously
"I prepared your favorite meal for you. Go to the kitchen and get some. I will join you soon." She said trying to unpack what Mitchell brought from travel
"Really?!" Mitchell said with a tone of Joy
"Yes" Said replied
"Thank God, I have been craving to eat my favorite food," Mitchell mentioned
"I knew you would be hungry, so I took my time to cook for my Angel" She replied
"I love you mom," she said
"I love you too, my Angel," Sarah replied
It scared Sarah when Mitchell suddenly asked those questions. Sarah and her husband have been hiding the secret of the past from her for years. Mitchell had once asked her mom about her family background but Sarah seemed not to give in an honest answer to her daughter because she never wanted the truth to leak out. She felt it would shatter her heart up and break her up into pieces, she tried to keep her safe and ensured no harm come to her.
"When will I tell her about us not being the true biological parents?" She kept asking herself
"What if she later discovers the reality?" She asked herself in fear
"Only if I know Veronica's whereabout all this might just go easy for me to bear," I said
"God, please forgive me for this enormous secret I am keeping away from Mitchell" She whispered to herself
"Mom, are you coming?" Mitchell shouted from the dining room
"I'm coming my Angel " She replied
Sarah went to join her daughter in the dining room as she kept thinking about what her fate would be when Mitchell gets to discover the reality.
