*Creighton POV*
*SIGH*
I don't need this piece of paper to tell me that she is my daughter, Yasmine. They changed her name to Samantha, and for some reason, that bothered me greatly. She was my first daughter, and was named after my grandmother. Her name at the time of her birth was Yasmine Noel Bardeaux. Princess of the Lycans.
Her mother, Marcella, was a werewolf, and the daughter of an alpha. Her father disowned her when she chose me over her fated mate, the Beta's son. I tried to warn her that being with me wasn't going to be an easy road. She chose me anyway.
I won't lie, I loved Marcella. Now that I think of it though, I don't believe that I was fully in love with her. Not enough to take her fully as my chosen mate over my fated mate. Instead, she begged to be my mistress, and I foolishly allowed it.
My fated mate, Gia, had already given me two boys before Marcella got pregnant with Yasmine. I mean, Samantha. Cruz and Cain were just a little over a year apart. Cruz is my oldest.
Two days after Samantha was born, I received a letter from Marcella's father, Alpha Grathon Judra. In this letter he informed me that he had heard about my firstborn daughter, and reminded me of the truce I had made with the Lycan hunters. The truce that would keep my kind safe.
The bargaining chip in this truce would be my firstborn daughter being handed over to the leader of the hunters. She would be betrothed to his firstborn son, and I would never hear from or see her again.
I had to explain the situation to Marcella, and she lost her mind. Once I got her calmed down, I explained that I didn't want to hand her over to them no more than she did. So, we agreed to place her up for adoption, with the hopes that we would find her again eventually.
Thankfully, we knew the family who adopted her, but I never imagined that she would be taken her across the country. I really never imagined that she would become the mate and Queen to the shifter King.
Now, here we are, face to face, and I have no idea how to act. She is still not safe, but from what I hear, she is extremely powerful. She is also more than just a Lycan and Wolf hybrid. She is also an elemental Fae. Something that blew my mind when I found out.
I listened as my nephew read the results, and again when Samantha took the results and read them again. Confirmation of something I already knew.
I still haven't spoken to her, and I'm having trouble finding the words to even say. I can feel my cheeks getting wet from tears, but the guilt I am feeling is beyond overwhelming. To the point I feel like standing up and leaving.
When our eyes meet, I manage to break a small smile, earning one in return. Just as I was about to say something to her, she spoke first.
"So, you're my real dad. I just hope you aren't a jerk like my adoptive dad. Where do we go from here?" she asked.
Jerk? Was her adoptive father an asshole? I'd f*****g take him out if he was.
"Yes. As soon as I laid eyes on you, I knew you were. As you have seen, you look a lot like some of your siblings. You look a lot like me. We go wherever you want to go with us. If you choose not to have me in your life as your father, I understand. I have a lot of explaining to do, but I hope that you will at least give me a chance to explain and make things right," I replied.
She spoke softly with the woman I knew as Queen Grace, queen of the Fae, and Queen Olive, queen of the vampires. When she stood up, I was afraid that she was going to leave without giving it a second thought. However, when she approached me, I stood to greet her.
She was so small and petite. So much smaller than I was used to. Small, just like her mother.
"I have no intentions of walking away. I do, however, feel we need to have a very in-depth conversation before we can move forward. I, I have so many questions, and right now, my trust of what's happening isn't the best. I was given to some pretty shitty parents, and I don't understand why. Could we have dinner tonight and talk? Of course, I'm not ready to do this alone, but maybe you and me, along with my fellow queens, and my siblings can have a nice dinner and get to know one another, and then, during dessert, you and I can get deeper into things," she explained.
She wasn't shunning me, and I was happy about that. She could have easily done so, but she didn't. If her adoptive parents were awful, it definitely didn't rub off on her. She was magnificent.
"I would love that. Uh, my brother, Raiden, owns a restaurant called Galatoire's on Bourbon St. They have the best shrimp and okra gumbo you will ever put in your mouth. We can all head that way if you like. We can sit in the private dining room so no one bothers us," I replied.
We made arrangements to meet at the restaurant in half an hour. She needed to clean up a little, and I needed to smoke. I wasn't sure how she viewed the use of m*******a, and I didn't want to offend her. It was only something I did when my anxiety was in overload.
I made sure to tell her to invite her family, and I was truthful about wanting to also get to know them better as well. If the two of us were going to establish a relationship, it was important to merge our families and worlds together. Especially for her safety.
I rode in the car with my sons and my daughter Gella. My other daughters, Maude and Chuck, followed behind us, and behind them were the rest of my siblings. Our ride wasn't long, but in that short time, I had a million and one questions that I didn't know how to answer thrown at me.
"Guys, how about we just enjoy dinner? I'm sure there will be a lot of questions answered then. We just don't want to overwhelm her. Alright?" I asked.
"But daddy, it's not every day you find your sister that was taken away. It's also not every day that she turns out to be a queen. She has a higher rank than you do," Gella laughed.
I had to laugh along with her, and she wasn't wrong. It isn't something that happens every day, and my daughter definitely outranks me by a long shot.
My people call me the Alpha King, but in reality, I was just an Alpha who went above and beyond to protect my family and my people. The same thing as any good leader of any species would do.
"She might outrank us, but sweetie, I don't feel any arrogance about her. She is very down-to-earth, and very sweet, according to her mate's aunt. Chuckie told me that she has very small children, so you are uncles and aunts. Man, I'm a grandpa. How crazy is that?" I laughed.
I was truly happy, happier than I had been in a very long time. I just wish Marcella was still around to meet her daughter again. After the night, she dropped our child off at the orphanage. I never saw her again. I don't even know if she is still alive.
That's just one more thing that I'm not sure how to explain to Samantha. However, if she wants to try and find her mother, I will help her with that as well.
