*Grace POV*
I am going to Louisiana with Samantha today, and I am hoping Olive can come along as well. Sammi gets her DNA results today, and she will find out if she is related to the Lycan Alpha King.
Truthfully, I'm not sure how that whole "king" thing is going to go over. Technically, a Lycan is a shifter, and would fall under our jurisdiction. However, I'm sure we can work something out that works for everyone.
"Do you think they are related?" Jameson asked. I nodded. It was the only thing that made sense.
"Yea, I do. Her aunt sent her pictures of her possible dad, and they looked so alike. There are slight differences, but the similarities outweigh the differences. She barely looks like her biological mother. They have the same hair and nose. That was about it," I replied.
If it turns out they are related, her aunt and father will come to Crescent Moon for a period of time to help Samantha learn how to release her lycan. Apparently, it takes more concentration than it does to shift into a wolf.
Samantha's spirit form is somewhere in between her wolf and lycan. That's why she looks so different. I, personally, think she is magnificent.
"Remember to stay alert while down there. I still hate letting you go back to the place without me," he said as he wrapped his arms around me and kissed my forehead.
That simple gesture set off my arousal. The heat between my legs was nearly uncomfortable, and if I had the time, I would have taken him right there.
"I smell you, my queen. We need to turn that off for right now," he chuckled. I hid my face in his chest and immediately apologized. It had been awhile since we had time to just be together, and it was something we both needed badly.
"When I get back, I think my parents will need to take the kids for a few days. We let our trusty Beta and Gamma take charge, and we get away. Deal?" I asked.
He quickly nodded his head and said that would be perfect. Now, just to figure out where to go. We are definitely not staying in the pack.
He walked me downstairs, and Asteria was there waiting for me with Samantha. Grandma was getting Olive and Aisling, and then meeting us at Lark's house.
"Are you nervous?" I asked. She nodded. She truly was. Her life had already slightly changed after finding out that she wasn't who she thought she was. It wasn't the fact that the family she had always known weren't really her own, but more so that she wasn't the person she thought she was.
"Honestly, it's not so much that I'm nervous. I'm anxious to the point of past just being nervous. I have so many questions and so many worries. Maude said many times that Creighton sent me away for my safety. What do I need to be saved from? Surely it can't be anything too crazy. I mean, I have faced a lot and overcome all of it," she admitted.
"Well, hopefully today your answers can be answered, or at least start to be answered. Are they going to be at the reveal?" Asteria asked.
Samantha simply shrugged and said she wasn't sure. "Maude said that she would come for sure. She is riding with Chuck. Whether Creighton comes or not is another story. Man, if he turns out to be my parent, what do I call him? Would it be weird to call him dad from the start?" she asked.
I had no clue how this worked. I know if it were me in her place, he would have to prove he wanted to be a father before I called him dad. However, it was her choice. So, I told her to do what felt right for her. Everything was in her court now.
Asteria took us to Lark's and when we got there, the living room was full of people I didn't recognize. Samantha quickly grabbed my hand, and gave it a gentle squeeze.
"There are so many of them. I definitely wasn't expecting this," she whispered to me. I squeezed her hand back, and told her to just remember to breathe.
Chuck rushes towards us, and his mother isn't far behind. He shakes our hands and asks Samantha how she is doing.
"Um, I'm alright. I just want to get this over with so we can move forward. I need to know if I need to keep searching for answers about who I belong to, or if my search is over. Either way, I still have a lot to learn about what and who I am," she said softly.
Chuck didn't hesitate before he pulled Samantha into an embrace. He whispered something in her ear, and it seemed to relax her a little bit.
"Would you like to meet everyone first, or just get to the results?" he asked. She turned towards me, and I told her that it was up to her about where to start. Olive told her the same thing, and together we waited for her decision.
"I think I should at least meet everyone first. It would be weird to hear the results and then wonder who was who if the results came out positive. So, introduce me," she smiled.
The three of us girls sat on a sofa, and one by one, Chuck had everyone come forward. She met Maude first, and it was good to put a face to a name.
She then met five younger girls who were her half-sisters. Michelle, Brittany, Gella, Frannie, and Whitney were their names. She was also introduced to her three brothers. Two were older, and one was younger. Cruz was the oldest, Cain was next, and the youngest boy was named Dallas.
Apparently there was another brother, but he had died at birth, and was Samantha's twin. His name was Stetson. I think when she learned that information her heart broke.
"How are you holding up?" I asked. She said she was overwhelmed, and wished Sterling had been there with her. Since he couldn't be, she was thankful that I was here, and as long as I was close, she would be fine.
Next came the aunts and uncles. It turns out that there were 3 aunts: Maude, Madaline, and Maeve. They were triplets. Then, there were Creighton's brothers: Cadmus, Raiden, Gael and Hayes. The uncles were huge. My husband was almost 7 feet tall, and I was certain that the three of them were taller than Jameson.
She finally stated that as much as she would like to continue, she was ready for the results. Everything was becoming just a bit too much for her.
"Pardon me, I don't mean to be rude, but I think she just needs to hear the results right now. She wasn't expecting the whole family to show up for this. She's kind of overwhelmed," I said as I spoke up for my best friend.
Chuck quickly apologized, and agreed to just get to the results. He asked her if she would like to do them in private with just him, Creighton and someone of her choice, and she quickly nodded.
"Yes, please. I want Grace, Olive, and Grandma Mel with me please. I need their support," Samantha said. Chuck glanced at Creighton, and his uncle gave a slight nod.
We went into Lark's office, and Chuck shut the door. He sat on the available chair, and opened the envelope.
"Samantha, I want you to know that before I read this, if we turn out to not be your family, I will still help you as much as I can to find out the answers you need. The same goes for all of us," he smiled.
She thanked him, and he then read the results.
"In the case of Samantha Drury Young, and Creighton Bardeaux. The percentage of relatedness is 99.99999% probability. They are related. In the case of Samantha Drury Young and Marcella Judra. The percentage of relatedness is 99.99999% probability. They are related," Chuck read, and then looked up at everyone.
Creighton sat quietly, staring at his daughter. Tears streamed down his face, but he didn't speak. Chuck handed the letter to Samantha, and she read it for herself as she quietly sobbed.
She finally looked up at her father, and gave him a soft smile. Creighton's face was filled with guilt and emotion, but managed to smile back. This was a start.
