Words of Confirmation

*Samantha POV* When we got home last night, I was overcome with emotions. As soon as I got my bearings after the teleportation, I fell to the floor and began to sob. Claire and Mel took my children and got them to bed, and my mate sat with me and held me while I cried. He was so patient with me, and stayed with me the whole time. I must have cried myself to sleep, because I don't remember going upstairs to bed, yet I woke up in bed. I had definitely slept longer than I normally do, because Sterling was long gone, but he left me a note to take it easy today if that's what I wanted. That's not what I wanted. I wanted to get up, take a shower, tend to my children, and do some work. I needed to keep my mind busy until my Ancestry DNA results came in. After showering and getting dressed, I made my way to my children's nursery. Claire had the triplets in their high chairs, and was getting Scarlett situated so that she could feed them. "Here, I'll take Scarlett. If you keep those three waiting much longer, their heads may start to spin," I laughed. That was one thing about my kids. They loved to eat. Just like their father. As Claire tore up the pancakes and placed them on the triplet's highchair trays, she asked me if she could ask for a favor. "Sam, would you possibly be able to find someone to help with the little munchkins this evening? Brock wants to take me on a date tonight, and he says he has a surprise for me. I don't want to leave you high and dry though," she asked. I had to smile, because I already knew what the surprise was. Of course, I wouldn't keep her from it, because it was about to change her life. During the drug sting at Brave River, Brock realized he was Claire's mate. She was still seventeen, and wasn't aware yet, but the day she turned eighteen, she was over the moon that it was him. That was almost 8 months ago, and they have yet to mark one another. Her fear of going all in and him leaving her has kept her from allowing him to mark her. Everyone in her family that she has ever loved has treated her like garbage, and abandoned her. So her fear is valid. I just hope she realizes that he isn't going anywhere. He adores her. "Of course, sweetie. Don't worry about us, we will be just fine. You go enjoy yourself," I smiled. I knew what the surprise was, and knowing that her life was about to change made me excited about her future. After Scarlett was fed and sleeping, I laid her in her crib, and told Claire that I would be back in just a bit. I needed to feed myself, and then get some work done. I also wanted to call the lab, but was still unsure whether I would or not. I didn't want them to feel pressured. I stopped by the dining hall and made me a plate of food. I grabbed a large cup of coffee, and continued to my office. As I waited for my laptop to boot up, I munched on a piece of bacon. As I opened my email, I noticed that there were four emails from the same person, and all of them were labeled "I know who you are, and I know your father". I opened the first one, and read it twice before it sunk into my brain what it said. Dear Queen Samantha Young, I know you don't know me, but I know you. I also know who your birth father is. My name is Maude Williams, and I believe you are my niece. Your father, or who I believe is your birth father, is my brother. His name is Creighton Bardeaux. If my son, Chuck's suspicions are correct, you are my niece who had been placed for adoption for her safety. Your highness, if this turns out to be the truth, I need you to know that he didn't want to send you away. He had to. Your life was in danger, and your birth mother, Marcella, left you at the orphanage in a pack called Broken Hollow. We haven't seen her again since then. My brother has no idea that I am sending you this message, but I felt it was my duty as his sister to let you know that he loves you very much. He has watched you from the shadows all of your life, and is proud of the woman you have become. I just ask that, if the tests come back to what we already believe, you just be patient with him, and hear him out before judging his actions. Also, know that if you are my niece, your life will change for the good and the bad. There are people out there who want nothing more than to erase the Lycan species. You will be a prime target, as will your children. Sincerely, your Aunt. I read the message several times before forwarding it to Sterling. I wanted his opinion on it, because even though it said a lot, it also seemed very vague. She said I would be a target. A target of what, and for whom? She also said that my "mother" left me at an orphanage in a pack called Broken Hollow. I have never heard of it, not even in our list of packs that we created to keep track of all the packs in the United States. The closer I get to finding out the truth, the more questions arise. After shoving another piece of bacon into my mouth, I picked up my phone and called the lab. Thankfully, my friend Jamie answered the call. "Hey Jamie, I hate to bother you, but I have had some things come up. I was hoping that the results were back. I didn't want to pressure you, but trust me, I wouldn't be asking if I didn't need to know quickly," I explained. She kind of giggled, and said it was no problem. She had the results, but hadn't had the time to call me. "Samantha, I have them. However, I don't know if it's something that I should tell you over the phone. It's something you definitely don't need to hear alone," she replied. I released a sigh, and told her I was heading over now. She was right. I shouldn't get this kind of news over the phone. However, I also didn't want to be overwhelmed by people when I got them either. So, I decided to go alone. Thankfully, I didn't run into anyone on my walk over, and Jamie was waiting for me when I got there. I followed her into an office, and she laid the papers in front of me. "Alright, go ahead and read them. I'll be here to answer any questions you have. Just know this, Sammi. This doesn't define you at all. It just sets you on the right path," Jamie said with a smile. I read the paper, and when I thought I would be devastated, I wasn't. I was actually relieved. "When it comes to the possibility of Marshall Drury being the paternal parent of Samantha Drury Young, the percentage of relatedness is 0.00%. When it comes to the possibility of Gina Drury being the maternal parent of Samantha Drury Young, the percentage of relatedness is 0.00%", I read out loud. I started to laugh and ran my hands down my face. Just when I think things can't get any weirder, it does. "Are you alright?" she asked. I nodded my head and told her that I was perfect. I truly was. Now I know why they treated me like trash all these years. It's crazy how just a few words of confirmation can change your whole mindset.
