WITHOUT REGRET

Hanguang slowly walked into his best friend's house, hair tied in a neat ponytail and wearing that typical bad boy outfit, a black shirt with the first two buttons open and black trousers . He walks with slow but steady steps ,the living roon is basically thrashed with bullet casings everywhere. He stops for a second, bends down, and picks up one casing. He continues walking, now with even more measured steps, he suddenly stumbles on something on the floor, and he slowly bends down only to find the lifeless body of Mrs. Wei .He takes a deep breath before closing her eyes gently and whispering a quick goodbye. He walks up the classy stairs, now his steps quicker than before, but still silent; he finally reaches the top floor and enters the master bedroom, and there on the floor was his best friend. Wuxian was badly injured and was bleeding excessively on the wooden floor. "Took you long enough ." Wuxian said weakly while on the floor. "Why didn't you call me earlier?" Hanguang said while moving closer to wuxian and trying to help him get up. "Just let me be you idiot." Wuxian said, his voice now weaker than before. "You need to go to the hospital." "What I need is to spend my last moments with you. " "The nicest thing you've said to me in ages."Hanguang said sarcastically. Hanguang now sat down on the floor and held on to Wuxian tightly. "I'm sorry!"Wuxian finally said after a long silence. "For what ?" "For everything!" "You promised! You promised you would be careful !" Hanguang said, now tears running down his face. "You always look cute when you cry."Wuxian said, forcing a smile "f**k you!" "Not something nice to say to a person who's dying. " He and Hanguang look at each other before bursting into laughter. "I need you to promise me something. "Wuxian finally says. "Only if you promise to do something for me in return. " "Blood promise!" "You must be kidding, right?" "No." Hanguang stares at Wuxian for a moment as if waiting for him to say he was jocking, but deep inside, he knew Wuxian was dead serious. He fishes in his right pocket and takes out a pocket knife. "You sure ? " Hanguang asked one last time for confirmation. Wuxian gives him a small nod, and Hanguang immediately understands what he has to do. So Hanguang slits his palm and then hands the knife to Wuxian, who does the exact same thing.They put there hands together and they both close their eyes as if feeling each others blood flowing in their veins. Wuxian takes a deep breath before saying, "Hanguang promise me you will take care of my son when I die, you will treat him like your own and please don't tell him the truth about me until the time is right." "I will do everything you ask of. I only have one question. When will I know the right time to tell him the truth? " " I trust your judgement." " Wuxian ,I want you to promise me that you'll let me take you to the hospital. " Wuxian looks at Hanguang, who is fighting to hold in his tears. He knows his actions hurt him more than anything, and he'll regret it, but he has to do it to protect his loved ones . "I'm sorry, but it's impossible for me to live." "No, it's not ! "Hanguang says, now half shouting and tears running down his face. "I'm sorry, I really am, but there's nothing I can do." Hanguang now doesn't even try to hold his tears anymore and just let's them flow freely. "Boys, be brave." Wuxian says, wiping away Hanguang's tears. "You and I..."Wuxian says, his voice weak and trembly. "Always and forever..."Hanguang answers while smiling. " Side by side..." "Living without regret ." " We're living different lives that heaven only knows if we'll make it out alive, but we'll be by each other side. " "You know I love you, and that's the truth." "Maybe in another lifetime. " "Maybe. " Wuxian looks at Hanguang before taking off his necklace and giving it to him. "Whenever you miss me, know I'll be by your side." "I won't miss you ." They both stare at each other and laugh without any reason. Hanguang lays next to Wuxian on the floor, and they both face each other. No words were said because the silence between them was loud. "There's a letter on the bed, please give it to the boy on his birthday. " "Sure." "Hey,do you have any regrets ?" "I could be able to go back in time ,I wouldn't change a thing." "I'll love you in this lifetime or the next."Those were the last words ever spoken by Wuxian. Hanguang stayed with Wuxian until his body turned cold .He stood up, took the envelope on the bed, and then sat down on the floor and cried his heart out. After half an hour, Hanguang took out his phone and called someone. "Hello, boss ?" The person on the other end answered . "I need you to come and clean a murder scene before taking the bodies to the morgue. " "Yes, boss." Hanguang hung up the phone and then looked at Wuxian for a few seconds before whispering, "Goodbye, my friend. " Hanguang took a deep breath ,stood up and slowly left.
