The Lone White Wolf

Chapter Ten

I have been working on these documents for a few days and I feel like I have not made any progress seeing as the texts are a mixture of languages. Think of the Rosetta Stone with its six texts but all jumbled up to form paragraphs, this is these documents in front of me. All I can tell you is this is an ancient language but none that we know of which would make this near impossible to translate; I guess a trip to the British Museum in London to see if they have anything that could help then maybe the London Library. Well, I do like adventures and challenges.

*What do you say Kia, a run tonight then gets packed for a trip to London*

*Ooo that sounds amazing to me, I like a good run and adventure*

I put my cup down and head to the back door and step outside looking around making sure no one is around and then shift into Kia. I look in a window to see Kia’s beautiful white wolf; I sit back in my mind and let Kia take the reins for her run. She sets off across our back field and into the wooded area about 2 miles from the house. She goes full speed over the twigs and roots and other woodland debris, weaving through the trees with ease having the time of her life. She begins to slow as she comes to a small beck in the middle of the woods; she walks over to it and takes a drink before lying down to enjoy the nature. After about an hour of just taking in the nature Kia takes another run in the direction of the house before letting me take back over to shift back as we reach the back door. I walk to my room, after gathering all of the documents off the table, to pack a bag to start my journey to London in a few days. I place the folder of documents on top of my clothes and close the bag and place it by my bedroom door; I head downstairs to tell the lads about my trip so they know where I will be. I walk into the kitchen to see the lads are both cooking some lovely food, well this makes it easier.

“Hey guys, I am planning on a trip to London for a few days to see if the Museum and Library can help me.” I explain

“Would you like one of us to come with you?” Derek asks.

“Nah, I will be alright, I will give you guys the locations of where I will be.” I further explain.

“If you say so, well just be careful.” Robert says concerned. I walk back out to let the boys finish up food. I sit on the couch and grab my laptop to start booking a hotel and train tickets for a few days; I also check my emails to see of any of the jobs I applied for had gotten back to me, well not yet. With everything booked I created a in case of emergency location document for the guys while I am in London. Whatever it is they are cooking smells absolutely divine, let’s hope it is done soon as my stomach is growling or is that Kia because she is hungry.

 10 minutes later food is finally ready, I walk back into the kitchen to see some lovely homemade Chinese spread. I actually cannot wait to dig in as I haven’t had a good homemade Chinese in a long time.

“This is amazing guys.” I compliment while taking another bite.

“Thanks.” They boys say at the same time. We make small chit chat while eating our food about how everyone’s day has been etc. Once food was done, I washed the dishes while Robert got on with some work that needed to be done and Derek does some searching into getting some animals for the barn. I hum while I finish the dishes and wiping down the counter tops, then I make a cuppa for everyone. I hand the boys their cuppas then I grab mine and head to my room to make sure I have everything for London.

I take a quick shower, do my night-time skincare, and finish my cuppa and get into bed with my laptop to watch some films before heading to sleep. After a few hours I start to grow tired and decided to shut my laptop down and head to sleep before I end up falling asleep with the laptop on.

***The Next Day***

I wake up later than usual, guess Kia’s run made me more tired than I had expected, I get up and do my morning routine and brush my teeth. I head downstairs to see the boys nowhere to be found, I am going to assume Robert is at work and Derek is either around somewhere or in the village. I make myself some breakfast and a cup of coffee before I start my day. Once I have finished my breakfast, I grab my cuppa and take it with me to my room so I can get my reservations and tickets printed off for tomorrow as you can never know what phone service is going to be like when you need it the most. I will give you the best travel tip ever, always print out any documents you need for proof of tickets or reservations no matter where it is you are going as you never know when your phone is either out of battery or service is poor. I put the documents with my bag, so I am not rushing around in the morning making sure I have everything and then rushing out the door to make buses and trains on time.

With all that sorted I sit on the couch and watch some TV while just browsing the internet seeing what is going on at the moment, not a lot really, it has been quiet for a while now. I look up to see that the news is on, and it is just the same old things now that was pretty much happening before although there are a lot more job alerts on it as businesses are still trying to get back to the levels they were at before the war. I go on the news website and save the link to the jobs site they are using so I can use it to look for some more jobs in the area when I return from London as I am not sure the few jobs I applied for before are actually going to get back to me.

I put my laptop down and decided to go for a walk around the farmland and see if there is anything that needs doing or needs ordering even though we did have the big renovation the past two-months but there is always work that needs to be done around here. As I am walking around, I hear Kia start to purr in my head as she takes in the beautiful nature around us. I pull out my phone so I can use the notes feature to make a list of anything that needs to be done.

*Would you like to go for a run Kia*

*Yes, yes, I would*

*Okay I’ll just finish this up then I will let you out seeing as you seem to be enjoying our beautiful land we own*

I managed to find a few things that needed to be done so I send it in a text to Derek for him to do while I am away, and I head back to the house to leave a note that I am letting Kia out for a run on the property and the furthest we will be is the woods out the back. I place it on the table where they would be able to see it easily, yes, I know they are guys, and they probably won’t but at least they can’t say I didn’t leave a note. I head back out and let Kia take over for her run.

*Kia, do you think that our people from Cavana are actually looking for us*

*Honestly, I am not sure, I do hope they aren’t as I actually enjoy it here but at the same time, I would like to see what Cavana looks like*

*Same, I wonder what would happen if we did find a way to get there. Are they going to welcome us or take us prisoner and kill us since we are a hybrid, and they aren’t exactly welcomed on that planet according to the note our biological parents left with us*

*They may want to talk with us first before executing us maybe. However, I do hope that we can go there and actually be safe as the world may have changed in the last 18 years*

*Well, we can live in hope*

Kia runs straight to the little beck in the middle of the forest and decides instead of laying next to it to jump in it for a little swim. I just let her enjoy herself for a while as she never really got to come out much over the last 2 years since we were trying to get back on our feet and back to normal. It’s been about 2 hours and Kia has decided she has had enough playing in the water and decided to run back to the house, so I take over and head inside to see that Derek has magically appeared in the living room, so I walk over and plop down next to him.

“Sooooo where have you been all day?” I say with a curious tone.

“I have been to a local farm to see if they had any animals, they were willing to sell so we can start filling the barn and paddock.” Derek explains.

“Well, how did it go?” I ask.

“It went alright they may have a few they can give us and will probably be delivering them while you are in London.” Derek further explains.

“Ooooo, do you know what they are giving us?” I again ask.

“Nope now stop with the 20 questions. Did Kia enjoy her run?” He states and asks.

“Yeah, she loved it and even decided to take a dip in the beck this time.” I reply. With that I get up and make something quick for dinner seeing as it is just me and Derek as Robert takes food with him to work. I throw together a salad with some of the left-over Chinese from last night and hand Derek his plate. We eat our food in silence since there isn’t much to talk about. Derek does the dishes when we are finished, and I head outside to prepare the barn for the animals to arrive. After about 20 minutes Derek joins me and it takes us roughly 3 hours to have the whole place tidy and bedding all put down. We set the thermostat to 21˚C which is apparently the perfect temperature for everyone before heading inside to see Robert has come home early. There is probably a reason for it as he never comes home early, in fact he is usually home late.

“How come you’re home early?” I ask Robert as we walk in.

“Had to shut the shop up as we did not have any electricity which meant we couldn’t even deal with customers face to face as the whole server was down.” Robert explains.

“Oh, well I hope it is sorted soon.” I speak.

“Well since you are home early you can make the food as I still have stuff to sort out with the animals.” Derek basically commands.

“Why can’t Celeste do it?” Robert questions.

“Oh god please do not start an argument over who does what seriously you are not 3 Robert just make some food. It doesn’t even have to take long it could be something quick. We all have to do things around here, plus I have a task to do that I was asked to complete.” I basically scream at them as this happens way too often.

“All you are doing is failing at translating some documents and then running off to London.” Robert screams back.

“You know what I am not getting into a screaming competition over something so little.” I reply and head out the back and shift into Kia and let her run off.
