I woke up in the middle of the night with this compelling feeling to go to the building which I can only see apparently. I sit up and wake Robert, so I do not go to the building on my own. He looks at me confused as to why I woke up.
“Why’d you wake me up for?” He says half asleep.
“I have this compelling feeling that I need to go to that mystery building.” I reply.
“The one only you can, see?” He questions.
“Yes, that one and I need you to come with me.” I plead.
“Okay fine but this is crazy.” He exclaims while getting up.
“I know.” I say while getting up. I get dressed in the only outfit I currently own which is a pair of shorts and a tank top, I walk into the kitchen to grab a drink before we head off. When Robert came out of the bedroom, I picked up the flat keys and left a note for Derek in case he wakes up before we get back. We headed into the direction the building was in. As we get closer, I have a funny feeling something bad is going to be lurking inside waiting for me.
I open the doors and take a step inside; I look at Robert and he is looking at me like I am crazy, but I motion him to follow me, and he does. We walk further in, and I notice there is a table all by itself in the middle of the room.
“Celeste, is that a table?” Robert asks stopping next to me.
“It looks like it to me, wait you se that, what about the rest of the building?” I question looking at him shocked he sees it also.
“Yes, I see the table and the rest of the building now we are inside of it. It must be cloaked with something only your species must be able to see.” He exclaims.
“Possibly.” I say as I approach the table. I notice something off about it, there seems to be a handprint scanner which is odd. I look at Robert to see him looking at me with the same confused and suspicious look. I go to take a step forward, but Robert puts a hand on my shoulder and stops me and takes a step forward himself to check it out. He motions to come forward once he has made sure it is perfectly safe. I move closer to the table and inspect it to see if there is anything else but the handprint scanner; sadly, there was nothing.
“Well, I guess here goes nothing.” I say while reaching my hand out.
“Are you serious? You are going to put your hand on that thing without knowing what it could do?” He exclaims making a good point.
“Well, there is not much else we can do, plus it could lead to something important, something useful.” I state.
“Okay but this is all on you as I don’t agree with this in the slightest.” He states. I place my hand on the scanner and the table begins to move; me and Robert jump back scared to death. The table moved to reveal a staircase which I am hoping for leads down to a safe basement; we slowly make our way down using our phone torches to light the way after wiping the scanner down so no-one knows it was us. Oh yeah Derek got us some new phones while he was at the shop if you are wondering. When I got to the bottom of the stairs I searched for a light switch. I managed to find one opposite the stairs, but the light was quite dim when I turned it on; I look around to see papers scattered all over the floor and what looks like plan details on the far wall.
I pick up the papers as I walked over to the table that is positioned under the supposed plan sheet on the wall. I place the papers on the table, but Robert picks them up straight away to analyse them while I stare at the plan sheet trying to work out what it is for. I look over to Robert to see if he has managed to work something out from all of the scattered papers which I cleared up from the floor.
“Hey, anything?” I ask.
“Nope, just looks like it is some sort of research……… wait look at this.” He says showing me the page.
“What is it like?” I say sitting down next to him and take the sheet of paper out of his hands; to me it looks like some sort of research to do with how to start a massive world war not just between countries but between the entire population. To me this does not sound like anything the human species could achieve on their own.
“Robert this is research for world destruction, but the human population wouldn’t be able to do this on their own. If I think the plans on the wall are the actual plans for the base structure of the entire base.” I explain.
“Well, it sounds possible due to the list of equipment that I have just found. Maybe we should take this with us and have a better look at it back at the flat.” He replies.
I pull the plans off of the wall while Robert collects all of the documents, and we leave the building and head back to the flat. When we get in, I see Derek sitting on the couch with a cup of tea in his hand.
“How thoughtful of you for making us one.” I say sarcastically.
“Well, you would have had one an hour ago, but I drank them.” Derek replies.
“How could you, now I have to make my own?” I say fake pouting.
“May I ask what is with all of the papers?” Derek questions.
“Yes, once I’ve had my first cuppa of the day.” I exclaimed. I place the plan sheet on the table while I walk into the kitchen to make me and Robert a cup of tea before we start to try and comprehend what it is we have just found.
I walk back into the living room with the teacups, handed one to Robert and then sat down on the couch. I feel Derek staring at me with some intense eyes waiting for me to spill the beans on what were up to for the past four hours. While I finish my drink, I think to myself, I wonder who could have helped this species come up with such a plan, but then a though comes in mind, what if it was my home planet’s leaders who constructed this. Once don I placed my cup on the table and grab the plans and open it out over the tabletop, using the cups as place holders to prevent it from curling back up again.
“Right better start to explain what we were doing. You know the building I spotted the other day well I woke up last night with this compelling feeling that I was being drawn to look inside; so, I woke Robert up to come with meme, so I was not alone just in case it was a trap.” I start to explain.
“Okay, so this is what you found in the building.” Derek interrupts.
“Well at first, we just saw a dining room table in the middle of the room when we entered which had a handprint sensor on it.” I proceed.
“Creepy and suspicious anything else or just that?” Derek interrupts me again irritating me.
“I know and it was just that. Now if you stop interrupting, I will explain. Right, I had to put my hand on it to see what it does, we did think about it at first and concluded it was our only option. Once it was activated the table moved to reveal a staircase which led down to a basement which we found all these documents. We must have been there for a few hours trying to figure what it was before deciding to take the lot and come back here.” I finally finish explaining.
“Why does this sound absolutely insane and dangerous?” Derek exclaims.
“I know it does, to us as well, but it was a risk we had to take.” I reply.
Robert places the rest of the documents on the table so we could all have a better look at what is going on behind this crazy plan. A few hours pass when we find a sheet of paper which was written in a language none of us have seen before leaves us puzzled. I ick it up and think, I have seen this before; I get up and walk into my bedroom and retrieve the note my real mother left me.
“Erm guys this language is from my home planet.” I say while walking back into the living room.
“Do you have any idea what it could possibly say?” Derek asks.
“Nope sadly as it is not my native language due to being brought up on this planet, although Kia might.” I say thinking Kia might actually know.
“Well at least we know someone from your home planet had something to do with it due to the fact even the best people on the planet could not come up with something this complex without any help.” Robert says.
“Wait lets us put all of these sheets in order since they seem to be numbered and it may make a bit more sense.” I suggest. While the guys get on with putting the sheets in numerical order, I head into the kitchen to make a hot meal for the lot of us as the quick meals will not be able to give us all the nutrients, we need to stay healthy. I managed to make a small tuna pasta bake with the little ingredients that are in the flat. Once it is finished cooking, I plate it up onto three plates and call the lads to come and get some food as well as take a break from the documents. Once the delicious meal had been devoured by the lot of us, we get back to the documents and see if it makes any more sense now that they have been put into order. As we lay them out, I begin to see some sort of watermark pattern.
“Does anyone have a UV light?” I ask.
“Why?” Derek questions.
“There seems to be some sort of pattern which was made as a watermark in the documents, and I think the UV light may bring it into better view for us all.” I explain.
“Okay I’ll check my bag to see if I have one otherwise, I’ll go to the shop to get one.” Derek says. I look at Derek as he gets up to search for the UV light with a bit of worry in my eyes as I have no idea what I am going to expect from this pattern. I am just hoping that it is the key to stopping this as I would rather not see this beautiful planet turn to nothing but barren wasteland. Yes, it is not my home planet, but it is the only home I know of, and I want to make sure that it stays that way because if I go back to Cavana; there is a high chance of being dead. Derek comes out without a UV light, so he grabs the keys off of me and heads out the door to go any buy one. While me and Robert waits for him to return, I take at look at the only sheet that is written in Cavanian to see if there is a possibility that I and Kia could translate it; I know it is a long shot, but it is all I can do it try.
While staring at the paper I hear the rain start to pitter patter off of the windows before a slight rumble starts to follow.
“Great just what I needed a thunderstorm to prevent me from concentrating.” I groan.
“Really a thunderstorm is coming?” Robert asks.
“Yep, and it is quite distracting the flashes of lightening and the rumbling, shame I do not have any headphones to block it out.” I say agitated.
“I am sure Derek can get you some if you contact him.” Robert suggests.
“Possibly.” I say as I reach into my pocket for my phone and call Derek to see if he could possibly get some headphones to help me concentrate through the upcoming storm. About half an hour passes by and Derek walks back in looking like a drowned rat from the heavy rain, he puts a bag on the floor by the door before heading off into his room to get changed into some dry clothing. I walk over to the bag to see a pair of headphones, thank God, some clothes, and a UV light. I notice that the clothes are women’s clothing, so I throw them into my bedroom and grab the UV light and headphones and brought them over to the coffee table. Derek comes out and perches next to me on the floor, I shine the light over the documents to reveal some sort of pattern which seems to look more like a map now that it has been lit up.
“Hey, doesn’t that map look like our hometown, but like 10 years ago or something. Hold on I will see if I can find an image of it on Google.” Robert points out.
“Now you say that it does look like it but cannot be 100% sure, I’ll try the UV light over the plan sheet to see if that brings anything up while you do that.” I speak. Robert grabs his phone off of the chair by the door and Derek and I move the documents off of the plan sheet to see if the UV light can bring something hidden to the surface, which could help us to figure out why this map is watermarked into these sheets of paper. To our surprise the plan documents seem to have some hidden writing on, shame it is in Cavanian and not in English. I threw the torch to the other side of the room in anger as it has been a waste of twenty-four hours of my life only to find nothing helpful; Robert stands p and walks over to me and give me a hug since I have broken down in tears because of it all and from all the frustration. Gosh wish something helpful would come out of this like being able to read Cavanian. Mhmmm maybe I can if I shift partially into Kia, it might bring something forward. Derek just got up to get the light since we need it and to make sure it still works.
“Guys, I may have an idea and it sounds stupid to me, but I don’t see any other options at the moment.” I speak up.
“What it is, Celest?” Derek questions.
“I was thinking maybe partially shifting into Kia and see if it brings forward the Cavanian side of me to be able to translate the transcripts and see if it leads to anything. I know that it is a long shot, but I think it is work a try.” I explain.
“I guess it is worth a shot, what harm could it do in the end, really, the worst that can happen is you either attack us or are unable to translate the transcripts.” Robert says making a valid point.
“I guess that’s one way to look at it.” I speak.
I get up and move to the corner and strip down to my bikini; I begin to shift into Kia, I see the guys looking at me with slight worry but at the same time making sure that I do not harm myself.
*I was wondering when you would ask for some help, it is one thing I do know*
*You could have piped up when we first saw that it was in our home language*
“Okay I guess we better try this and do not worry I have it under control, so you don’t have to stand a mile away from me when I look at the documents. Get me a notepad and pen as a precaution in case I can translate the b****y transcripts.” I state as I kneel down by the table and pick up the document that is entirely written out in Cavanian and take a look at it as I grab the notepad and pen that Derek handed me and start to write. Not sure what I am writing but I am just going to let it flow, although I do not understand the writing, but it seems Kia does. Maybe one day I will take the time to learn my home language so I can translate wherever and whenever it is needed. I fell the guys just staring at me while I am writing which is slightly off putting but I ignore it as I could be unlocking the secret to stopping this stupid world war and being able to save the planet. Once I feel my hand stop writing and put the pen down, I look at the notepad and realize that I practically filled it with the translation of the single note sheet (it was a small notepad, and my writing is not the smallest). It was getting late so I motioned the guys to head to bed and I would follow.
