Carmiltha’s Struggle

Carmiltha’s POV I awoke once more in this strange, unfamiliar place, the scent of antiseptic lingering in the air. My eyes fluttered open, adjusting to the soft, diffused light filtering into the room. As consciousness returned, the memory of my brutal encounter with Ian and his gang flooded back, causing a shiver to run down my spine. Turning my head slightly, I noticed two figures by my bedside. They were dressed in the uniform of Alpha Maddox's pack, strangers to me. One of them, a middle-aged woman with a kind face, smiled gently as she saw me stirring. "Welcome back, dear," she said in a soothing voice. "I'm Dr. Reynolds, and this is Dr. Mitchell. You're safe now, in the Blood Crystal pack." The realization that I was no longer in the oppressive confines of the Moon Stream pack brought a mix of emotions: relief, disbelief, and a hint of hope. Perhaps this new beginning held a chance for a better life. Dr. Mitchell, a tall man with a serious expression, began explaining the extent of my injuries. My heart sank as he detailed the broken bones in my right hand and the severe bruising on my body. The injuries were more extensive than I had initially thought. "We'll need to help your body heal properly," he explained. "That means setting some of these broken bones and positioning them correctly." The thought of breaking my bones again sent a shiver of dread through me, but I understood the necessity. My wolf needed my body to be strong and whole, and these doctors were here to ensure that. As they prepared to work on my injuries, fear and uncertainty clawed at my heart. Would I be strong enough to endure this pain once more? Could I truly heal and find a new life in this unfamiliar pack? Dr. Reynolds must have sensed my anxiety because she squeezed my uninjured hand reassuringly. "You're strong, Carmiltha," she said, looking into my eyes with kindness. "You've already endured so much. We're here to help you heal, both physically and emotionally." With those words of encouragement, they began the painful process of setting my broken bones. I clenched my jaw, trying to stifle my cries of pain, and the tears welled in my eyes. Third POV Meanwhile, while Carmiltha was undergoing the agonizing process of mending her broken bones, Alpha Maddox paced restlessly in his grand chamber at the Alpha's Manor. The connection between mates was more than just an emotional bond; it was a visceral link that allowed him to feel what she felt. And right now, he could sense every single ounce of pain coursing through her body. Every wince, every sharp gasp of pain, reverberated through him like a relentless storm. He clenched his fists in frustration, the muscles in his jaw tensing with each passing moment. He knew that the pack doctors were doing what was necessary to heal her, but that knowledge did little to alleviate his anguish. His wolf, a fierce and protective entity within him, was growing increasingly restless. It paced within his mind, its instincts urging him to do something, anything, to end Carmiltha's suffering. It chanted in his head, a relentless drumbeat of urgency. "Go tear off their heads, Maddox! Make them pay for hurting our mate," his wolf growled in his thoughts, the primal instincts of an Alpha fueling its anger. His eyes flashed with a mix of anger and despair. He longed to be by Carmiltha's side, to hold her, to soothe her pain, but he knew he had responsibilities as an Alpha that couldn't be ignored. He had to maintain order in his pack, and that meant dealing with those responsible for Carmiltha's ordeal. Meanwhile, in the depths of the pack's dungeon, Angelica was enduring the wrath of Maddox's fury. He had ordered her imprisonment for her role in Carmiltha's suffering, and the guards had not held back in their punishment. But even as he tried to exact justice, his own suffering grew. He left the dungeon and kept pacing because he was losing his mind, at that moment he felt like beheading Angelica with his claws but he knew that would be him having mercy on her and her family. He plans to make everyone that contributed to Carmiltha’s pain, suffer so much they would beg for death. Julian, his loyal Beta, watched with growing concern. He could see the turmoil in Maddox's eyes, the barely contained rage that threatened to erupt. He knew that if they didn't intervene soon, Maddox might lose control and harm the pack doctors. "Alpha, you can fight your wolf for just a few minutes," Julian implored, his voice laced with urgency. Maddox's fists clenched, his nails digging into his palms as he struggled to maintain his composure. "Well, I can't because all I can think of is that they are hurting her. I want to break their necks," he admitted, his voice strained with anger and frustration. Julian knew he had to reason with Maddox, to make him understand the necessity of what the pack doctors were doing. "They explained the procedure to you, Alpha, and you gave them the go-ahead. Moreover, if they don't break her bones to repair them, she would be in a lot of pain," he countered, trying to appeal to Maddox's rational side. But at that moment, Maddox's control snapped. A guttural growl escaped his throat as he felt the pack doctors working on Carmiltha's broken collarbone. The agony of her pain, transmitted through their mate bond, was too much to bear. With a furious roar, Maddox lunged toward the door, his intent clear—to confront the doctors and stop their actions by force if necessary. But Julian, quick to react, moved to restrain his Alpha. He knew that they couldn't afford to have Maddox lose control like this. "Alpha, nooooooooo!" Julian's voice cracked with desperation as he fought to hold onto Maddox. He knew the consequences of Maddox breaking free, and they were dire. The pack doctors' lives hung in the balance, and if Maddox's wolf took control, there would be no stopping the c*****e. In a frantic attempt to avert disaster, Julian hastily mind-linked other guards for backup. The situation had escalated far beyond anyone's expectations, and they needed all the help they could get. But Maddox's wolf was relentless, and the scent of his mate's pain was an irresistible call to action. "Julian, you dare keep me from my mate?" Maddox's wolf growled, his voice dripping with anger and frustration. The struggle within Maddox raged on, and Julian knew that they were on the brink of catastrophe. As the irrational and vengeful wolf within Maddox began to surface, Julian's heart sank. He understood that they had all made a grave mistake. Now, it wasn't just the pack doctors' lives at stake, but the safety of every wolf within Carmiltha's vicinity. The fury of Maddox's wolf knew no bounds. With a primal snarl, Maddox used his superior strength to break free from Julian's grasp. In a split second, he unleashed his pent-up anger and lashed out at his Beta. A brutal impact landed on Julian's jaw, sending shockwaves of pain through his entire body. Before he could recover, Maddox hurled him across the room with an overwhelming force. The impact with the wall left Julian gasping for breath, his vision swimming as he groaned in agony. But in the midst of the chaos, the sound of approaching footsteps echoed in the chamber. Several guards, alerted by Julian's call for backup, arrived just in the nick of time. Their faces displayed a mix of determination and trepidation as they aimed tranquilizer darts at Maddox. The darts found their mark, striking Maddox in quick succession. His powerful form staggered, and the growls of his wolf turned into anguished howls as the tranquilizers took effect. Julian, still reeling from the blow he had received, watched as the guards secured Maddox, ensuring he wouldn't pose a threat to anyone, especially the pack doctors.
