Betrayal and Dinner Pt. 2

I outright laughed and told her, “Let me know if you want my help Haley. I’ve officially come over to your team.” Haley said, “YES! Did you hear that Eric? Lexi agrees! Team Fairy and Hood unite! Those fuckers are in SO MUCH TROUBLE! Witch bitches WILL get put in ditches.” I said, “That’s not the saying Haley. You know, that right?” Haley said, “It’s my f*****g saying. They all belong in ditches and it RHYMES! THIS REALM LOVES RHYMES! Seriously, this realm does few things right BUT BURNING THOSE BITCHES AT THE STAKE…. They had that right. Can we go back to that? Not the humans because they were wrong, and probably killed humans. Supernatural’s though…. We would know if they were truly a dark witch.” Haley yelled at someone else, “FINE! You BE that way! I’m calling Aiden! He could declare war against them. THEN I could kill them. BJOURN! You could do it too! Declare war against dark witches. FOR INSULTING ME! I AM INSULTED! Lexi, I’ll come by later. I’m going to add ANOTHER layer of awfulness. WAIT! Why would a witch try to get in? … IS THIS ABOUT THE MOTHERFUCKING TROLL?” I said, “He was here. I accidentally pushed him into the f*****g holloport when I caught him.” Haley cursed, “MOTHER f*****g s**t BALLS! WHEN will you people listen to me? I know when people should die! Next time I say someone needs to die YOU HAD BETTER LISTEN! Lexi, I’m going to talk to all my brothers and try to get them to declare war.” I laughed, “They won’t do that.” Haley said, “Which is why I should be in charge. I’m right. One day ALL of them will admit that I’m right. Do you know what day that will be? WHEN IT BITES US ALL IN THE ASS! Some dark witch is going to do some kind of horrible s**t, and everyone will be all…. Ohhhh Haley was right, and Haley will be like THAT’S RIGHT MOTHERFUCKERS!” I laughed, “I’m sure.” I looked outside to see Matt and Chase were in tears, they were laughing so hard. Ted was even laughing. Then I remembered. Ted shot a witch… Where was the witch?              Haley wasn’t done, “Then I’m going to charm the area around yours, Ted’s, and Sally’s places. NO MORE f*****g HOLLOPORTS!” I said, “Can you do that?” Haley said, “Well… I don’t know exactly. I’m going to FIND a f*****g way though. I can booby trap the area to do fun s**t. That’s what I’ll do.” I said, “I do need to be able to walk around here though.” Haley said, “Only those who intend you harm would trip my booby traps.” I said, “I’m in.” Haley said, “Ok… I’ll be there in two hours. I will take the ENTIRE one hundred and twenty minutes to convince SOMEONE I’m right. Dark witches gotta f*****g go.” I laughed, “See you then.” I walked outside. “Well… Haley’s angry.” Ted said, “Umm according to the words these two actually managed to repeat… she’s more than pissed.” I laughed, “She’s trying to get one of her brothers to declare war on the dark witches.”  Matt managed to say, “They won’t.” I said, “Oh I know. Haley tries to get her Hackura family to declare war against the witches…. About every six months.” Ted laughed, “That’s true. She does.” Chase sobered up, “One of her brother’s mates is a witch.” I smiled, “Not a dark witch, and Haley likes her. Speaking of witches… where is the witch Ted shot?” Ted smiled, “I was going for the troll, but happy accident.” I grabbed his arm, “Are you ok?” Ted nodded, “I didn’t kill her. She’s fine.” That was Ted’s first time shooting an actual person. He’d only done target shooting until now. Chase said, “She’s in my dungeon. We have cuffs that don’t allow her to use her magic. I’ll get to the bottom of this Lexi.” I shrugged, “Not so hard to figure out. Noah figured out where I live and took a chance.” Ted said, “How?” I shrugged, “Someone told him? Or he followed us.” Ted said, “You’d know if he followed us.” I said, “I should have, yes.” Chase said, “I think we need to check your car over for a bug Lexi.” I said, “My car isn’t here. It got tampered with already.” Ted said, “It could be mine.” Matt cursed.              Kevin and Kincade showed up. There wasn’t a bug in the area around my house, but there was one on Ted’s car. He was enraged. I made everyone but Ted leave when I knew it was close to time for Haley to pop in. Ten minutes after I had everyone leave. A golden eyed Haley popped in. “NO ONE will f*****g listen to me. Aiden thinks I’m delightful and entertaining. UGH! I am NOT delightful! I’m f*****g right.” She walked to the edge of my barrier and held out her hands. A purple glow came out of her hands. “There. Let’s see those insulting bitches put that in their cauldron and SUCK ON IT!” I laughed. She popped out to the area surrounding my barrier. She spent about an hour popping to random places. Ted said, “Is it just me or does it look like she’s talking to the trees and the ground.” I said, “She probably is. She's an earth and sky fairy.” Haley popped back to us after disappearing for about ten minutes.         Haley smiled, “Everyone’s area is on the lookout for trolls. I swear TO GOD! We don’t have time for this s**t. I am only ONE person! Emmaline’s got problems. Lucas has problems, Eric and I have problems. Partial fairies have problems coming out MY ASS! Your string has problems. CAN SOMEONE NOT HAVE A DAMN PROBLEM?” I laughed, “Doesn’t seem like it. Everyone has problems. All the time.” She sighed and gave me a hug, “I swear no one can get to you here Lex.” I smiled, “Oh I believe you.” She kissed my cheek, “He will be in a world of pain if he tries again.” I sighed, “He’d have to know that. He took a risk coming here and failed.” Haley sighed, “Just once could something be f*****g easy? MUST the villains ALWAYS work with witches. Where is said witch?” Ted said, “Matt has her.” Haley groaned, “GREAT! Now I have to be nice and have Eric ask the Alpha here if I can talk to her.” Ted laughed, “I’m sure they will let you Haley.” Haley sighed, “So much simpler if I could just take her. That would make me happy.” I smiled, “Thanks for booby trapping the area.” Haley smiled, “Anyfuckingtime.” She popped out.         Ted said, “There’s your man.” I looked to see Chase running as Bolt towards my house. I stepped outside the barrier so Matt could pow wow with us. Both shifted, Chase spoke, “I’ll let Haley take the witch. She’d get answers, and it’s a prisoner I can give her.” I frowned, “You have a prisoner you can’t give her?” Chase sighed, “Technically speaking, yes. Because it’s not my prisoner to hand over.” Matt said, “We could and say… I believe the Princess says Oops?” I laughed, “She does say that.” Matt and Chase looked at each other. Chase said, “It’s late. Let’s get some rest.” Ted gave me a hug and left with Matt. Chase came inside with me. “Are you ok?” I asked Chase. Chase said, “No. This should be over. I should’ve had him. I should’ve protected you.” I said, “I pushed him into a holloport on accident Chase. Ted and I just need to be more careful and do routine sweeps of our cars evidently.” Chase said, “Noah knows where you live now.” I said, “And he cannot get in. He took a risk. It failed. He can’t just come back at me. Or even Ted. He must not know Sally isn’t here for him to try for. You can rest assured whatever coven that witch is in… will die soon.” Chase said, “If they are the ones who made it so Haley can’t pop to Noah… I doubt they’d do this without thinking of the ramifications of this.” I laughed, “Haley will get the name though. Her brothers will kill them if she can’t. I doubt this is more than a one off though. Noah, damn him, is too smart for that. He probably just paid a random witch in the area. I seriously doubt this will be the coven he’s actually working with.”          Chase frowned, “Why?” I said, “Because I told you; Noah is a numbers guy. He knew he could fail, or something could lead me or Haley to the witch. IF this worked, he wouldn’t want to lead Haley to someone where she could get me back.” Chase growled, “He can’t have you.” I said, “Chase… he will never have me again. I’m yours. No matter what he does…. I’m yours.” Chase hugged me, “I won’t let him get to you Lexi. I can’t.” I hugged him back, “Chase, even if I face him. I’m better than he is. I can beat him.” Chase nodded, “You’d better kick his ass.” I laughed, “I will.” I led Chase upstairs. We just needed to connect. Chase took his time making love to me. Whispering how much he loved me in my ear. I fell asleep moments after Chase pulled out of me. The next morning I got up and got ready for work. I knew Ted would be late, and that worked because Heath was coming to see me. In the chaos of yesterday I’d almost forgotten. Chase walked me to a car. I shot him a look. He smiled, “You’re borrowing one of mine sweetheart. I want you to be safe.” He waited until Kevin and Kincade got in my car before he left. I broke the silence, “I’m sorry you guys got hurt the other night.” Kincade said, “We are sorry we left you alone.” I said, “Witches.” Kevin snorted, “I’m on the fairy princesses’ side.” I laughed, “I think a lot of people are coming around to her side.” We walked into the building, and found Heath waiting in the lobby. He walked over and hugged me. I introduced them, “Heath, this is Kevin and Kincade. Guys this is my brother Heath.” Heath nodded to them and they nodded back. When we got to my office. Heath shut the door, “Why do you have guards?”         I rolled my eyes, “The Alpha was worried after what happened with Sally.  Now Ted has guards and so do I.” Heath snorted, “What did you want to talk about?” I said, “I met a vampire that knew mom.” Heath smiled, “Susan Herford? You met her?” I said, “You knew?” Heath said, “Yes, I know about Susan. The files dad kept are extensive.” I said, “She had interesting things to say.” Heath frowned, “Like what? Her and mom’s teenage schemes? They went on many missions together. They were best friends, along with Anne.” I said, “Mom had an abusive boyfriend before she found out dad was her string. She had to go to our grandfather on dad's side since he was the hood leader at the time to help her end it. The man was thrown out of the shroud.” Heath frowned, “That’s not anywhere in the records. Who was the man?” I shrugged, “She said she didn’t know.” Heath sighed, “Great. What else?” I said, “She said there’s a second shroud.” Heath nodded, “There is.” I gaped, “You knew? Why wouldn’t you say anything?” Heath said, “They split off from us over a disagreement. I don’t know what it was, but dad said they couldn’t be trusted. I saw no reason to question that.” I said, “Maybe because according to Susan… Her parents, our grandparents, both sets of them, live there.” Heath’s jaw dropped, “Excuse me?” I said, “Yeah, she had dinner with mom’s parents a few years ago Heath.” Heath stood, “Why wouldn’t they come for us?” I said, “I don’t know. Susan said she was told she couldn’t come see us since she couldn’t be a permanent fixture in our lives because she lives in North Carolina. She was given the impression dad’s family took us in.” Heath paced and I let him. I knew my brother. He was very angry.         “Oh, I’ll hunt them down. They WILL answer why they didn’t even come see us. So what if there was some disagreement over mom and dad being together? Even though they were strings. That shouldn’t have mattered. Why would they let us think they were dead?” I said, “Why did everyone let us think that? They ALL know Heath.” Heath frowned, “I’m sure they believe they are honoring our parents’ wishes.” I said, “I don’t know if that matters to me. They all know how I’ve felt these last three years. There was another place I could’ve gone while serving you to see family. Hell, I at least deserved to show up and yell at them for being a bunch of jerks to us.” Heath said, “You’re right. Are you going to mention the Bobby thing?” I said, “I was getting there. Seems you already know though.” Heath said, “Other than our family being in the shroud…. And I do mean family. We have aunts and uncles. Probably cousins. Both mom and dad had siblings. I just assumed there was an accident and they all died. Like our parents told us. I just thought they didn’t want us to mourn their siblings along with our grandparents.” I sat back, “You think we have cousins?” Heath shrugged, “I’m sure we do.” I changed the subject because this one was painful. They let us go. They didn’t even care about us. “Noah and a witch tried to get into my house last night.” Heath said, “I know. I am stunned you told me though.” I groaned, “Do you not know anything?” Heath laughed, “When it comes to you Lexi? No, there’s not much I don’t know. I make it my business to know.” I gulped, “Great. I should’ve had him.” Heath said, “He had an escape route. There was nothing you could’ve done. He may have betrayed us, but he’s still good at what he does.” I said, “He’s not smart enough to lead this Heath.” Heath said, “No, he’s not.”             I said, “Could he be in the second shroud? Could our family blame us for something about mom and dad?” Heath said, “I can’t say no, but I doubt it.” I said, “Why?” Heath said, “Our family could’ve taken back over our shroud when we were children. I couldn’t lead yet; I was a child. They chose not to. We’ve never met them. They don’t want anything to do with us, but letting a crazy person take you…. I doubt they would do that. You are still their grandchild. We are their last links to their daughter or their son. It’s one thing to ignore us; it’s entirely another to help a deranged man who isn’t your string kidnap you. It’s not hard to envision what he has planned.” Heath’s fists clenched. I said, “What? What’s his master plan? Kill me?” Heath said, “No Lex. He’s not going to kill you. He’s going to try to break you. If he gets you; he’ll r**e you. That’s a given. He will punish you for everything that’s gone on. If he’s following you, he may know about your string. He will try to use you as a bargaining chip to come home and be my lieutenant again.” The blood drained from my face. Heath gave me a knowing look, “He won’t go after your string Lex. Not until he has you. He’ll regroup Lexi, but He will try again.” I snorted, “Not for a while he won’t try.” Heath said, “No… I’d say around New Year’s.” I laughed, “Bless his soul then. I’m spending New Year’s how I always do.” Heath smiled, “Then we can hope he tries to follow you and Haley somewhere.” I snorted, “That would be far too simple.” Heath sighed, “Yes, it probably would.”          Ted walked into the office. I frowned, “You ok?” Ted said, “Disturbed. I am disturbed.” I laughed, “Why?” Ted said, “Secret pack stuff.” I said, “Oh boy.” Ted looked at Heath, “Hey… thanks for trying to make sure my big family dinner didn’t happen.” I glanced at Heath confused. Heath laughed, “I should’ve known Anne would just ask your string’s family to host.” I gaped, “You said they couldn't’ come to the shroud because you were trying to help Ted?” Heath smiled, “I always try to help my people out Lexi. I think we all know something offensive will be said at this dinner. Matt’s parents will get offended, and Matt will be offended. I don’t really like it when a pack of wolves are offended by our people. I already have an apology gift ready to send.” I laughed, “Of course you do.” Ted smiled, “I still appreciated the effort.” Heath looked at me, “I’ll look into this and get us answers.” I said, “I have answers. They are a bunch of assholes. I don’t care what our DNA says. It’s you and me Heath. Always.” Ted looked between us confused. Heath nodded, “I’ll still find out. They owe us answers. We have done nothing, and they let us hurt alone. They have a lot of explaining to do.” Heath gave me a hug and left.         Ted said, “Girl… spill.” I explained the whole thing to him. His jaw was on the floor, “My mom has to know.” I said, “I know.” Ted frowned, “There has to be a reason my mom didn’t say anything. You know she would never do this to intentionally hurt you.” I said, “I know Ted. We aren’t saying anything yet. Besides we have your big family dinner to get through. Are you really ok about shooting that witch?” Ted snorted, “I’m fine. The witch was given to Alpha Conners. The shot in the thigh will be nothing compared to what he does.” I laughed, “Haley really took her? She actually went through proper channels?” Ted nodded, “She did. Alpha Conners was trying not to laugh about it. Apparently, Haley was spending the morning with the triplets. So, her Alpha wolf was going to question the witch for answers. Then when Haley put the triplets down for their nap she will join. She requested her husband do awful things to try for answers first.” I laughed, “She wants the witch to be hurt physically then.” Ted said, “Oh Alpha Conners seemed to think she might have the babies practice their abilities on the witch.” I laughed, “I would actually pay to see that.” Ted said, “Me too.” We got through the rest of our day. Matt showed up at the end of our day which worked out really well. I sent him to pick up the food because I was going to have Ted be busy until the last possible minute. I could read my friend. He was worried, and he needed to be doing something. Matt came back with the food, and unfortunately, we couldn’t stall anymore. I sighed, “All right. Let’s wrap for the day.” Ted sighed, “Can’t we have some emergency?” I said, “Sadly, no.”          We had locked up when the King’s daytime assistance came around the corner. She smiled, “Sorry, I don’t mean to catch you on the way out. The king expresses his deepest regret for what happened to your car. We reviewed the footage. Their men came in between sweeps. Adjustments will be made to security. We are paying for the damages to your car.” I smiled, “Please tell the king it was simply supposed to be a party. Not some gone in sixty second’s heist. I appreciate his gesture for the car repairs. It’s very kind of him.” She smiled and handed me a bouquet of roses. I smiled, “These are beautiful. Thank you.” I opened the office back up to put them on my desk. I set them on the desk and turned. Kincade was there ready to sweep for bugs. I sighed, “She’s dating a vampire. Noah doesn’t have an in with her. She’s the vampire king’s day person for crying out loud.” He ignored me. Not shockingly the bug sweeper turned up nothing. I stuck my tongue out at Kincade. We all walked outside and piled into my car except Ted and Matt. We went back to my house. Ted followed me in as Matt drove away. Ted said, “We need to raid the Haley closet.” I smiled, “I thought you’d got for a rainbow outfit to piss your grandparents off.” Ted snorted, “My mom really wants this to go well. I’m going to try not to get pissed about the things they say to me.” I nodded. We went for a casual look. A light pair of jeans with a cuff at the bottom, and a long-sleeved navy shirt. I followed suit with skin jeans that had rips in them. I pulled out a black off the shoulder loose shirt and threw some heels on. Ted sighed, “Let’s do this, I guess. I had Matt take the food over already. War Goddess be with us.” I nodded and looped my arm in his. We ran over, and I let him lead the way to Matt’s parents’ house. We walked in arm in arm. We were the last to arrive.
