I threw my coat in the closet and got under the desk much to Chase’s amusement. He had no idea what was coming. I unzipped his pants when the door opened. I smirked. He was going commando. Handy. I could practically feel Chase’s tension and frustration mounting as I kept almost letting him come only to back off. I couldn’t see his face, but I felt a little bad for Daniel. Chase felt murderous. When Daniel said goodbye I pushed Chase all the way into my mouth and sucked hard. I slid my finger towards his asshole pushing lightly, and he came with a roar. I was far too proud of myself for the whole show. Chase said he was going to punish me. Dear goddess, please. He told me to go wait in his room. I dashed away once he’d given me my trench coat back. I waited but after a while….I need my own damn release. I’d never been so hot turning a guy on like that. Hiding under the desk during his meeting was….it was all so hot. I started to play with my c**t. I’d only just started when Chase came in and pounced on me telling me I couldn’t do that. I kept my mouth shut because it was on the tip of my tongue to tell him it was his own fault. He’d made me wait. He tied me up arms and legs. I needed him so damn bad. He said I was driving him insane. That was kind of the point. I was going to see how far I could push him, and how amazing the payoff would be. If Haley thought it was good….it had to be pretty f*****g amazing.
He whipped me on the thigh, and edged me like I’d edged him. I finally had to tell him I needed to come. It was all so intense. I was prepared to beg him, but he was fully inside me before I could even say the words. I was screaming his name, and pulling at my restraints in seconds. Chase was growling and grunting. He untied me, and I got on top for a few moments before he took back over. When we fell apart, I decided I had to give it to Haley. She had unlocked the secret to the best damn s*x ever. Working Chase up….was mind blowingly amazing. I looked at the clock withholding a snicker. We’d been having s*x for four hours. My eyes were closing as Chase pulled me in close to him. He said we were having a date night tomorrow. If he wanted to f**k me like that often, I’d do whatever he wanted. I’d even tell him was BA without my brothers permission for another round of that. Date night was an easy thing to agree to. The next morning I was barely awake when I could practically feel Chase thinking about something. I wanted to smack him. He was thinking far too hard this early in the morning. Chase asked if I wanted clothes. Are you kidding? I lost thirty extra minutes of being asleep because he was worrying about my clothes. I wanted to smack myself for not telling him that I brought clothes over with me last night. It was cute he was worried though. I couldn’t stop my smile when I looked into his eyes. I explained I’d brought some things over last night. He looked really happy about it. I got up and got into the shower. If I was up, I might as well get ready. I moaned in surprise when Chase entered me from behind. This was worth getting up early for. He kissed my neck, and it sent tingles throughout my body. If I didn’t have to go to work I might’ve blurted out that I wanted him to mark me. I needed to get a grip. I wanted to stick with my getaway plan. I knew my BA outfit would hide the mark, and I could hide it as myself too. I’d wear a scarf like ted did, or turtlenecks. I just wanted to enjoy the whole process, and our getaway seemed like the perfect time.
I got dressed, and Chase reminded me about date night. I nodded. Hopefully this outfit or one Haley had in my closet was appropriate. We walked downstairs and found everyone waiting. Cameron and Reagan joined us before we started eating. I was really excited when Reagan told us about the plan to combine the packs. I knew Chase would love that, and I really liked Reagan. Plus she knew all about being a Luna. She could show me the ropes. When Sally, Ted and I stood to go to work it felt like we’d broken up the party. I mean… we had, but we did need to go to work. A small part of me wanted to stay in Chase’s arms with this group. It felt like I finally had the big family I’d always wanted. When we walked outside Kevin and Kincade were waiting by my car. I laughed, “Did I give you a key to my car?” Kevin smiled, “No.” I said, “I don’t want to know.” We all got into our cars. Sally motioned for me to roll down my window, “I’ll be by after your client from this morning leaves. LOTS to talk about!” Ted said, “GIRL! We have ALL the things to talk about.” I laughed and we all took off. Ken and Kyler were tailing us again. Kincade walked into the office with us today. He sat down. Ted said, “GIRL! You and your Alpha were so DAMN loud I heard you all the way at my house. Sally did too.” I rolled my eyes. Ted had a knack for exaggerating. I said, “Sure Ted.” Kincade coughed but was composed when I turned back around. Before I could ask if Ted was serious our client arrived. Bexley was behind her with her little girls. Kincade stiffened. I glanced at him surprised, but then turned to where he was looking. The girl I was going to offer our internship to. His face was a mixture of awe and surprise. The girl was staring back at him until Bexley nudged her. She turned bright red and turned away.
I shared a look with Bexley. I knew this girl was in high school, but I didn’t know how old she was. I said, “Hello, Lenore. I’m Lexi and this is partner Ted.” She smiled, “I’ve heard so much about you both. This is my daughter in law, Bexley. She informs me you’ve met before. My daughter Carry, and my grandchildren. My only ones so far. Thank GOD Liam and Bexley are having children. I am older than all my friends who have grandkids already, but now I’m back in the game with the girls. Thank god fairy’s have multiples.” I laughed, “I never did hear their names Bex.” Bexley smiled, “This is Arlina, Asterine, and Ashleigh. Liam said the other names were very fairy so we had Ashleigh. I said the spelling had to be unique.” I laughed, “Beautiful but very fairy.” She handed me Arlina. I cooed at her. Bexley smiled, “Don’t you just look good with a baby?” I laughed. “Not for awhile.” A part of me ached. It hit me like lightning. I wanted a baby with Chase. Not in a few years but soon. After he marked me we’d have to chat. Really I should wait until Noah is caught. Or should I not put that off? UGH! I pushed that aside. I took pity on Kincade. “Carry, how old are you?” She smiled, “I’m seventeen. Soon to be eighteen. My birthday is right after New Years.” I smiled. I was fairly certain with the glances she kept stealing at Kincade… He was her mate. I sent Ted a text. Bexley smirked at me letting me know she had the same thought.
Me: Is she Kincade’s mate? I think she is.
Ted: They certainly seem drawn to each other. From what Matt explained Full blooded werewolves can’t tell their mates until they are eighteen.
Me: So can partial werewolves find them sooner? From a human and werewolf couple?
Ted: Matt said sometimes. They don’t know why though.
That was odd, but not my problem. We went through our ideas with Lenore. She loved one of them. It was the most elegant event out of all our proposals. I was not shocked Haley was right. At the end I turned to Carry. “Ted and I are looking for an intern. We do work with supernaturals, so we wanted to put it out to the surrounding packs first… Haley told me you like designing and event planning. I was wondering if you’d like the job. It would be after school. We could work with you on the days you’d like to work. It would only be a few hours.” Ted said, “You’d get school credit too. I spoke with your teachers. Seems you are a bit of a smarty pants. They agreed you could get credit, and make this a work study deal. You’d be here two days a week for half the day. Your counselor was open to the discussion with you on which days would work best.” I don’t think Kincade even noticed he was inching forward in his chair, but Bexley and I certainly did. Carry for one brief second flashed her eyes to Kincade then blushed.
Carry gushed, “Gosh! Really? You did all that work before we even met?” Ted smiled, “Who Haley recommends is already at the top of my list. Besides, I wanted to get an idea of your grades, and if we could make it work so you’d get credit. While simultaneously being exposed to more than a few hours of work here and there. I worked up an outline of how this would work. We have an event a few weeks before your graduation. You would have from now until then to plan it and run the event. Lexi and I would grade your work, and that would make up most of your grade from us. Along with other tasks we assign you. We want you to shadow two other events of your choosing. I have a list of them so far in a shared excel file. When we add events you will know.” Lenore was smiling at her daughter. Carry was getting more and more excited the longer Ted talked. She squealed, “I’ll take it! I even get out of school!” Kincade’s face broke into a broad smile as he watched her. She jumped up and hugged her mother. Ted said, “Let’s start to fill out the paperwork then.” Lenore stood as Ted walked to desk. She said, “Thank you Lexi. This is….most kids don’t get to do things like this.” I shrugged, “They should. Lord knows I didn’t get to. It’s really insane that we expect high school kids to know what they want to do after they graduate. At least Carry will know if this is the path she wants to take or not. She will get paid for her work AND get school credit. Which is a genius idea from my partner. I’d just told him I thought of this yesterday. He might need a raise.” Ted said, “I SO need a raise.” I laughed.
Bexley grabbed me and yanked me into my office. I closed the door. “Haley says she charmed your office.” I said, “She did.” She squealed, “That’s Carry’s mate right? It has to be. She’s the cutest little thing, but she doesn’t even have crushes on guys. BELIEVE me...I’ve tried. Her brothers are so damn protective they don’t let her live her life. She’s so focused on school ,and everything….” I said, “Oh I think they are. We will find out though because she’ll be in the office after her birthday. Are you going to tell your mate?” Bexley snorted, “Hell no. He’d go crazy. I’ll let Carry have her first crush in peace.” We walked back outside. Ted was sending paperwork with them, and he’d gotten everything he needed to confirm with the school. Carry had a car so she could drive here. That was handy. She would start next week. I turned to Ted, “You are a genius. Work Study? I don’t even know how you pulled all that off in such a short time.” Ted smiled, “I have a gift.” I said, “You do. Kincade….Do you like our intern?” Kincade said, “She’s pretty.” I said, “That’s it?” Kincade shrugged. Ted grabbed me and dragged me into my office. Ted closed the door and laughed. “Oh my god. He doesn’t know.” I said, “That’s not nice. He can’t know until she’s eighteen. They just know they are drawn to each other.” Ted said, “The rest of the room knew. Her mother was grinning like a cat that ate the damn canary.” Haley popped. “Who ate what now? Carry is ecstatic.” I said, “Do you want to keep a secret from Liam? Rather does Eric?” Haley tilted her head, “Yes. Yes, I do. This sounds fun.” I laughed, “We think Kincade out there is Carry’s mate.” Haley squealed and stuck her head out of the office. She shut it quickly, “Awww, they’d be adorable.” Ted said, “What’s adorable is Carry and Kincade are the only two who don’t have a clue.” Haley laughed, “They will still be drawn to each other if you are right. His wolf will like her a lot. If Emmaline meets them before her birthday we will know for sure. Liam will flip s**t. Hell….their family all will. Wolves are such f*****g hypocrites all the damn time.”
I laughed, “Why?” Haley said, “A son finds their mate, they are all excited. A daughter does, and they are conflicted. Both happy while wanting to rip the guy apart. Sexist shits. All of them.” I laughed. “I don’t think you’re wrong.” She handed me an envelope. “Aiden found this in our mother’s things. It’s addressed to you.” Ted said, “The former fairy queen wrote you a note?!” I looked down, “I guess she did.” I stared at it until Ted said, “OPEN IT!” Haley sighed, “She can't open it until December. It’s charmed.” Ted flopped down dramatically in a chair, “Dear goddess why? Fairies are so fun and mean at the same time.” Haley shrugged, “They suck. What’s new? I’ve got to get back. I know you can’t open it, but I wanted you to have it.” I nodded, “Thank you.” She popped out. Kincade knocked on the door, “Sally is here.” Sally flew inside. She smiled broadly. “What’s that?” I sighed, “A letter I can’t open from the recently deceased fairy queen.” Sally frowned, “It’s addressed to you. Why can’t you open it?” I shrugged, “Fairy charm. I’m going to watch this thing like it’s going to hatch until December first.” Kincade frowned but shut the door. Sally squealed, “I LOVE Derrick. He’s just the best! I told Ted the other day, I want to get my IUD removed.” I smiled, “I’m really happy for you.” Sally smiled, “I’m just so happy this is the way it was always supposed to be for me. I was supposed to be happy.” We worked through upcoming events, and we let her know about our intern. Sally thought it was a great idea, and wanted to use the paperwork Ted had to find herself an intern through the schools in the area. Kincade knocked again, “The Vampire king...is here.” I nodded.
Susanna, King Arthur, and Robert walked in. King Arthur sat down, “I must say. I was intrigued by this invitation.” Sally stood to leave. I said “No, Sally. Stay.” She nodded and sat back down. I sighed, “I know vampires are secretive, but I thought….since you are Suanna’s string. You might be willing to help us. Ted can set up an additional meeting so you all have time to think, but I think you might be our best hope.” Ted stared at me in surprise. Robert quirked an eyebrow. Susanna smiled, “I so see where this is going. I told you Robert. She’s so smart!” King Arthur said, “What could we help you with lass?” I said, “There’s a theory Noah’s obsession with me goes all the way back to an ex my mother had. If that’s true….we are behind. We are playing catch up, and not well. We are constantly on defense and not offense. I don’t like being on defense. Just ask my old soccer team.” Ted, Susanna, and Sally snorted. I continued, “You all have been around for at least a century. If anyone could come up with battle strategies and possible plans to give us an edge it’s you guys.” King Arthur studied me. Robert appraised me as well. King Arthur spoke, “It is rare for anyone in the supernatural community outside of the Princess and Bexley to ask us about our past. No one thinks to ask us. Yet you cleverly have lass. I will think about this with my child. Your safety is paramount to Susanna, and she is with you not infrequently. Let’s plan to reconvene after Thanksgiving.” I nodded. They stood. I inclined my head, “Thank you, your majesty. If I could speak to you privately for a moment. I would appreciate it.” King Arthur laughed, “Of course lass. Are you sure you’re not part fairy? I’ve never known the hood to be as entertaining as this group has been lately.” I said, “Group?” King Arthur gestured to those of us in the room. I said, “We are not fairy’s.” King Arthur shrugged. Robert said, “They do spend time with the fairy princess.” King Arthur laughed, “So they do.”
Everyone else left. Kincade was shifting back and forth on his feet as I closed the door. King Arthur said, “Your guard is uncomfortable. He thinks you will ask me a question I know you will not.” I frowned, “What question?” King Arthur smiled, “About your Alpha wolf lass.” I groaned, “Does anyone not know about that?” King Arthur laughed, “People who are not paying attention, and people who are waiting for you to them yourself.” He said pointedly. I pushed my guilt about Haley aside and said. “Speaking of Haley.” King Arthur laughed, “Were we?” I said, “Yes, and you know it. She mentioned you’d be the one to ask if her Aunt ever met my parents and took them to some special fairy bank.” King Arthur smiled, “She’s right. I would know. Faelynn took your parents there once, but it was not her who took them originally. It’s my understanding from my love that your parents were taken six times. Only the last time was by my princess.” I said, “Do you know why the Queen would help my parents?” King Arthur smiled, “I do not know. I can guess it has to do with her daughter and yourself.” I nodded, “Thank you.” King Arthur stood, “I’ll think upon strategies for you.” They left.
Ted said, “What was that about?” I said, “A question about Haley’s aunt. She said he’d know.” Ted said, “Evasive. We have been spending a lot of time with Haley. Time to get ready for the club. PLEASE goddess let Haley have a different outfit for you.” I laughed. Chase really was shutting down his club. I unzipped the second bag as Ted and Sally changed. Haley had a pink and black dress. The top was hot pink and tied on one shoulder, and the rest was black. Ted snorted, “I knew she’d get you in pink.” I smiled, “It’s mostly black.” Ted said, “Hurry and change we are meeting them at the club. We all got outside quickly. We got inside, and quickly ordered drinks. Cameron and Reagan walked in seconds later. Reagan joined us, “I’m so excited about this!” She bumped my hip, “Last time we were here, I was just convinced you were Chase’s mate. Now I know.” I laughed, “Apparently it’s not a well kept secret.” I felt arms encircle me. I felt the tingles, and teased Chase a little bit about it. Cameron broke us apart saying he didn’t need to see his brother like this. Reagan snorted, “Like he hasn’t seen worse.” I bit my lip. They guys were talking about hearing us last night. I shot Ted a horrified look. He was serious? He just nodded. I asked what they were talking about. Ted said out loud he wasn’t kidding this morning. Oh god...Were we really that loud? Chase quickly took my mind off it with our friends.
It was so much fun. Part of me longed for Haley to be here with her own Alpha wolf. It would’ve made the group feel complete. Ted grabbed me and we ran to request girls just wanna have fun. We all belted it out. I looked at Ted towards the end of the song. This was where Haley would’ve done some fairy thing that made us all hover over the ground for a few seconds. Tears filled my eyes. She should be here, and it was my fault she wasn’t. I pushed that aside and ran over to Chase. He could make me feel like less of a shitty friend. I told him to take me to his office. I was just going to have to add all his offices to our list. Along with mine. When we straightened back up, and went back out no one was there. Now I felt awful. Chase informed me he wasn’t the only one with an office here. I sighed in relief. I was only winning the world's worst friend/big sister in one of my relationships. Everyone came back out, and we danced and drank the night away. When we got to my place I teased Chase with my secret about Kincade. He actually seemed worried. Silly man. Maybe Haley was right about wolves being sexist if Chase was actually worried for Kincade. I’d f**k anyone up who tried to hurt Kincade for finding his mate. He had my back, and I’d have his. Liam wouldn’t know what hit him if he tried for Kincade. The weeks flew by. Kincade and Carry were so cute at the office. None of the werewolves seemed to realize what was happening though. Kincade would bring Carry Lunch on Tuesday and Thursdays. Coincidentally those were the days Kincade would sit in our office for his “turn.” I swear the werewolves were blind.
The weeks passed by, and Thanksgiving was upon us. Kincade actually asked me to confirm twice Carry wasn’t going to be in the office. He offered to sit with her while she worked. Nope. Not her mate at all. How can no one see this? I had to tell him she was with family because no one worked on Thanksgiving. He actually looked like I’d ruined his whole day. The morning of Thanksgiving Chase and I welcomed it with a bang before I had to get to the shroud. I left with Matt and Ted. When we got there we split off. Ted sighed, “You know you and Heath are welcome at our family’s Thanksgiving. We could just combine them. It’s only two extra people. I smiled, “It’s our things. Our parents loved Thanksgiving.” Ted sighed, “Still….if you guys want to join… The door is open.” I nodded, “I’ll tell him.”
I ran to Heath’s house. His front door was wide open. My heart stopped, and my blood ran cold. Heath never left his door open like that. Never. Not once. I ran to get the bow I had hidden outside his place. I slunk into the house. The oven timer was going off. No one was in the house. I opened the oven and pulled out the Turkey that was thankfully not burned. I heard a noise behind me. I whirled, pulling my bow and arrow. “He’s on his way back.”. Isaiah said with hands raised in the air. He sighed and continued “He texted me to let you know he was on his way. He got pulled into an emergency.” I said, “Is everyone ok?” Isaiah nodded, “Heath got there in time. Everyone is fine.” Heath zoomed in. “Damn. I was hoping I’d get back before you.” I dropped my bow and punched him in the shoulder. I yelled at him, “YOU DO NOT leave things IN the oven with it ON when you run out of your house. That’s how you start fires, you dork!”
I was trying to get my heart rate back to normal. Heath looked at me and knew what was wrong. Isaiah excused himself quickly. Heath pulled me into a hug, “I’m alright Lexi. I’m so sorry. It was an emergency I had to run out.” I exhaled, “When I saw your door open…..” Heath said, “I know Lex. I’m fine though.” I took a deep breath and backed away, “So besides slightly overdone turkey. What are we looking at eating?” Heath laughed. He put on the football game and we both sat on the couch. He had beer for him and wine coolers for me. I could never convince myself to like beer. We always did a low key Thanksgiving. We’d watch the game and have some drinks with Turkey. It wasn’t stressful for anyone. Heath said, “Are you going to Chase’s for dinner?”
