First sight Pt. 3

I sighed, “I have a list. I’m trying to find the one they used, but there’s one I can’t nail down her schedule.” Dylan laughed, “That will be her Alpha Chase. Consider me your Yoda. Yoda Dylan. Find Planner you must. With hard schedule. Pin down you must.” I rolled my eyes, “I’ll keep that in mind.” Dylan said, “Fine her you must. Keep secret you must.” I said, “WILL YOU STOP talking like Yoda!” Dylan snorted, “Everyone is so touchy. Anyway, I’m going to get out of this downpour, and get back to my delightful show. You’re worrying your Beta.” I frowned, “He told you he’s worried?” Beta Dylan laughed, “No, we Beta’s are a vault trap for our Alpha’s. I can hear it in his tone. We Beta’s have a tone when we worry for our Alpha’s. I’m sure Beta Matt can tell you all about how worried I am.” I frowned, “Why are you worried?” Dylan laughed, “Because I saw this train wreck coming a mile away. I am prepared for operation cold war back on the home front. All while trying to keep the pack thinking everything is rainbows and unicorns. Which has gotten SO much easier since fairies came into my life. They are so distracting. You need to get you one for your pack.” I snorted, “I have enough problems.” Dylan hissed, “Problems? They are my new favorite show! They do not cause problems; they create endless fountains of entertainment. You shut your mouth Alpha Chase and get you a fairy. You should warn Alpha Sophia about Haley. She’s in line for a tongue lashing al la Haley style.” I snorted, “I’d like to hear that.” Dylan said, “Ohhh you HAVE to hear it, and if I’m not there then you WILL record it for me. Never mind, you’d forget. I’ll tell Beta Matty boy.”          Dylan turned and skipped back into the house, “Back to my fairy show!” I rolled my eyes and got in my car. I was almost at the border when I saw a coffee shop. I was going to need coffee if I was going to get through this night. Cameron was still waiting for an explanation. I needed to talk to Sophia and figure out what the HELL Matt was doing at the border tonight. Bolt snorted, “Come on Chase. His mate has to be near here.” I grabbed my coffee and was walking back to my car when the smell of cinnamon hit me. “MATE!” Bolt screamed. I whirled. I ran to the tree line and shifted. Moving along the boundary of my territory until the hotel came into view. “MATE! MATE!” Bolt was screaming. I said, “I heard you the first time, Bolt.” The girls turned. I was in shock, “She smells us.” I told Bolt in surprise. “SHE SMELLS US CHASE!” Bolt repeated. She began to come towards me. f**k! I took off and shifted back and climbed up a tree after grabbing some shorts. Bolt snorted, “What are we a squirrel now? Get down there and meet her!” I said, “We can’t. This was the plan. We are going to make sure she’s safe now.” Bolt grumbled. I tried to placate him, “We can watch her now.” I said, “We need to know who she is first though. Any ideas on how to get her name?” Bolt had no ideas. She got to me quickly. I sniffed again. “She’s not a wolf.” Bolt linked me. I said, “I got that. She’s supernatural though.” I studied her. She was about 5’11 with dark hair. She had full pouty lips that I desperately wanted to kiss. I caught one of my wolf’s scents, and I bit back my growl. “KINCADE GET BACK!” He stepped on a twig. My mate whirled around, but Kincade hid behind a tree.                Her hand went to her chest. “You scared her!” I linked Kincade. Kincade was surprised, “I just saw you shift and come back here Alpha. I was making sure you were ok.” She said her name. Lexi. I smiled. Lexi Scott was my mate. She sighed and turned around. Bolt chuckled, “She’s having trouble leaving and she didn’t even see us.” I smiled. She was stunning. “Our pups will be beautiful.” Bolt said. I agreed with him. Once she got inside, I hopped down from the tee. Kincade came out. I told him, “You report to me and me alone on this. You follow her. You make sure she is safe. I want to know where she lives, and I want that report the second you have it.” Kincade nodded, “Alpha, Is she a threat? What is she?” I said, “I don’t know what kind of supernatural she is, but she is not a threat. Just keep her safe.” I barely managed not to call her mine. Kincade nodded. I turned, “Call your brother too.” Kincade said, “You want Kevin here too?” I nodded, “Both of you make sure she is safe.” Kincade nodded confused. I ran back to my car. I sat across the street for who knows how long. Finally Matt linking me brought me out of it, “Uhh Chase…. Cameron is here, and he’s pissed. He’s two seconds from hunting you down.” I snapped out of it, “s**t! I’m almost home.” Matt said, “He thinks you’re ignoring his calls.” I looked down at my phone in my cup holder. f**k! I’d missed fifteen calls. “I didn’t hear his calls or see them. I’m on my way.” Matt said, “Oh to be a fly on the wall for this brotherly chat.” I winced. There had been very few times my brother was mad at me. Thinking I was blowing him off would do just that.        Matt, Cameron, and my dad were waiting when I pulled in. Cameron was glaring at me. My dad looked relieved. I got out of the car, “Son, we were about to send out search parties. Cameron called Alpha Conners. Beta Caleb said you’d left over two hours ago.” I frowned, “I didn’t realize it had been that long. Cameron, are you ready to go?” Cameron growled, “I’ve been ready FOR AN HOUR AND HALF!” I nodded and got back in the car. Cameron stomped over. Matt linked, “Best of Luck to you. I think he’s going to hit you.” I sighed. That might make me feel better about being such an i***t. I should be with my mate right now, but I’m the dumbass who got married. I sighed and drove to Cameron and I’s spot. I parked and yet again my brother slammed the door and got out. I joined him and he whirled around immediately, “You can’t get out of this Chase. You don’t lie to me! You TOLD me you’d tell me tonight!” I said, “I’m not trying to get out of it. I just lost track of…” I trailed off because Cameron punched me in the face. “I have been worried for TWO WEEKS! I thought you were either avoiding me, or in an accident. But NOOOO You LOST track of time! YOU ASS!” He hit me again. I didn’t even raise my hands. “Fight back Chase!” I said, “No.” All the fight died out of Cameron’s eyes and stance. “What is going on?” I sat down and Chase followed suit. “Last week Bolt felt my mate nearby. I’ve been terrified she will reject me because of Sophia. Bolt has been insufferable. He was only better when I’d go to Alpha Conners territory. That’s why I was there last Wednesday and throughout the week. I couldn’t take it anymore. Her scent was in their home. She smells like mom’s cinnamon bread. Alpha Conner’s invited me to the Princesses’ fairy training tonight.” Cameron said, “And? Did you find her?” I said, “Not at Alpha Conners house, no. Reagan will be pissed I upset her future best friend. I’ll somehow fix that, but…”          Cameron said, “You’ve been checking out party planners because you think it could be the one, they used.” I gaped, “How do you know that?” Cameron laughed, “A girl in my pack works at the second place you went to. You know the one where you walked in and walked out without saying anything. She came to Reagan to let her know how great her boss was at parties.” I smiled, “Well, I can say I won’t need their services since my mate plans parties too.” Chase said, “Sure, I mean… YOU FOUND HER?” I smiled, “That’s why I was late.” Cameron said, “The f**k are you doing with me then man? Where is she?” I said, “I have men watching her making sure she’s safe. I can’t meet her right now. I NEED Sophia to sign the papers.” Cameron nodded, “You do. That is an honorable thing you are doing. I don’t know how you are even doing it Chase.” I said, “I’m fighting every cell of my body to go back and claim her and make her mine. The only thing keeping me here is that I know my men are watching her. She will be safe.” Cameron smiled, “What’s her name?” I smiled, “Lexi, Lexi Scott.” Cameron said, “Is she human?” I said, “With how fast she moves? No. She’s not. I don’t know what she is, but she smelled me. She’s not a werewolf because she didn’t know what she was smelling. I was in a tree above her, and she didn’t look up. She’s… really fast though.”         Cameron smiled, “Luna Lexi huh? It’s nice. So she’s a party planner?” I said, “She’s the most beautiful girl I’ve ever seen.” Cameron laughed, “I’ll bet.” I said, “I have never wanted anyone more in my whole life. I want to know everything about her. I want her whole story, and there’s basically nothing online.” Kincade linked me, “Alpha… she knew we were following her. She’s… hard to track.” I growled, “What does that mean?” Kincade seemed to wince before he said, “We lost her.” I growled and punched a tree. Cameron said, “Whoa…. Chase. What happened?” I growled, “They lost her! They said she gave them the slip. I… I need to know she’s safe. She looks like the girl in my dream.” Cameron said, “I’m sorry what now? What girl? What dream?” I said, “I woke up after being unable to warn this girl she was in danger. Something was following her, but she didn’t know. What if someone is following my mate? WHAT IF THEY MEAN TO HARM HER? I can’t find her! I can’t even protect her! I can’t even f*****g be with her because I’m f*****g MARRIED!” Tears fell down my face. Cameron said, “It’s ok. Look I’ll have Reagan use her for a party. I’ll be able to keep an eye on her.” I said, “Reagan will tell her I’m married.” Cameron said, “Reagan will have no reason to tell her. We don’t talk about your marriage.” I snorted, “She’d tell my mate.” Cameron sighed, “We won’t tell her. I’ll just have her reach out because she’s close.” I said, “You’re not going to tell Reagan?” Cameron sighed, “You aren’t telling anyone but me yet. Right?” I shook my head, “That was my plan. I’ll have to bring Matt in at some point.”         Cameron said, “Then we will start with this, and when everything goes to hell Reagan will kick my ass and we will move on.” I said, “What party are you going to plan?” Cameron shrugged, “A welcome in our new reign to get to know each other, party. I don’t f*****g know. Reagan does that shit.” I paced, “I need to find her. I can get her scent better than they can.” Cameron said, “I’ll help you.” We shifted and I ran to the border. Her scent was all over the hotel, but we couldn’t pick it up anywhere else. After several hours we shifted back and grabbed clothes. I growled, “Go home Cameron.” Cameron said, “What are you going to do?” I said, “I’m going to wait until she comes to work. Then I’ll have my men on her again.” Cameron said, “Chase, you need sleep.” I said, “Sleep is not on the list of things I need. I NEED to know my mate is safe. I need HER Cameron.” Tears filled my eyes again. “I need her, and everything’s f****d up. I f****d up everything!” Cameron said, “We can fix it. You can have your mate Chase. You are one of the best guys I know.” Bolt was whining in my head. “I want to know where she is Chase. This wasn’t the plan. The plan was we’d know.” I growled, “Which is why we are going to sit out in the rain all night.”         Cameron said, “I can’t convince you to leave, can I?” I said, “If it was Reagan, would you leave?” Cameron said, “Have a good night big brother.” I shifted back into Bolt and stayed on my side of the border in wolf form. Matt linked me at six in the morning, “Umm… where the HELL are you? Your bed hasn’t been slept in; your car is GONE.” I said, “I’m taking care of something. I’ll be back when I’m back.” Matt said, “WHAT?” I closed off my link. At seven in the morning I saw her. Everything in me relaxed. I growled when I saw a man run over to her and hand her coffee. They hugged while I seethed. Bolt said, “You have no gaydar. I dislike him touching mate, but at least he’s not into her that way.” I studied the guy. “You’re right.” Bolt snorted, “I am often right.” They went into the building. I linked Kincade and Kevin, “Lexi Scott is back at the hotel. Do not lose her, and don’t let her know you are her shadows. You have my permission to step in should you need to protect her.” Kincade and Kevin replied, “Yes, Alpha.” I ran back home. I shifted and grabbed some clothes and walked inside. Susie ran up to me, “CHASE! Matt said you were busy.” I smiled, “I’m never busy when you are asking for me. What’s up?” Susie smiled, “How’s our project cookie going?” I smiled, “Quite well.” Susie looked around then whispered, “Did you find your princess?” I nodded, “Yes, I’m having her guarded as we speak.” Susie squealed then covered her mouth, “Can I meet her?” She whispered. I smiled at her, “I promise once I meet her, you can meet her too.” She clapped and walked away. I walked into my office. Derrick and Matt were there. Matt handed me coffee. “You apparently need coffee since you don’t sleep anymore. We have a problem.” I sighed, “Of course we do.” I tried to push all thoughts of Lexi out of mind and focus on my work.
