Chapter thirty-two
POLICE ARRIVAL
The next evening, Jesse drove to Derek’s house. He had driven from Gabriella’s house with the intention of going home, but then his concern for her overrode his need to be home alone. He ended up driving back and monitoring her house all night, so he’d got little sleep. He was now tired from sleeping in his car.
Seeing the photo of Erica and Derek pained him because a part of him had always wondered whether Derek had been in love with her. He had dismissed the idea two years ago, but seeing that photo again brought his self-doubts up again. A part of him wondered last time if they were too close, but he obviously chose to ignore it. After that event, Erica had been distant for days until she became her normal self.
