I stared blankly at Julian. "You... You're back?"
Julian was also my childhood friend. He was of the Kitsune. Perhaps due to my natural instincts, I was always a little afraid of him. A fox and a bunny, I mean, right?
He was Tristan's friend, yet the way he looked at me was always full of possessiveness.
After I rejected Julian's confession during our senior year of high school, he went abroad.
I never expected that when we met again, I'd be such a mess.
Julian draped his coat over my shoulders. "That's right. The moment I heard Tristan wasn't treating my Clara well, I flew back overnight to steal you away."
My face flushed slightly. "Thank you, Julian."
"Clara, that's not what I want to hear."
As he spoke, Julian's fox ears twitched slightly. I couldn't resist reaching out to stroke them.
Julian let out a few soft gasps, making my heart race and my ears burn. "Why... why are you making such weird noises?"
"Can't help it. I love you so much. As soon as you touched me, I couldn't control myself."
Why did that sound so suggestive?
Twiddling my fingers, I murmured, "Julian, I have nowhere to go."
Julian leaned close to my ear, his voice a seductive whisper. "Then, would you like to come home with me, Clara?"
I lowered my head. "Julian, I don't want to jump into another trap."
"My sweet Clara, don't you love my ears and tails the most? If you come with me, you can touch them as much as you want."
That offer sounded incredibly tempting.
He sweetened the deal. "I can also help you regain control of the Rabbitfolk. What do you say, Clara?"
Meeting his tender gaze, I took his hand.
After taking a hot shower, I came out to find Julian leaning against the doorframe waiting for me, showing off his well-defined eight-pack abs.
I pulled his shirt together, but Julian pulled it open again in protest. "Clara, I'm trying to seduce you here!"
Ruining the mood, I replied, "You're going to catch a cold."
Julian sighed helplessly and handed me a steaming bowl of spaghetti. "You must be starving, Clara."
As I ate, my nose grew stuffy with emotion, and tears began to drip into the bowl.
Julian hurriedly wiped my tears away. "Hey, what's wrong? Why are you crying all of a sudden?"
"Nothing. It's just that... the spaghetti is really delicious."
Julian took out a stack of documents and handed them to me. "Clara, here is the evidence of your father harming other clans and violating multiple laws of the Beastkin Code."
I flipped through the pages, completely shocked. "Julian, when did you gather all of this?"
"Clara, I originally planned to use these to force your father into a marriage alliance with the Kitsune. But you loved Tristan so much back then, and I couldn't bring myself to tear you two apart. I didn't expect it would come in handy now."
I pursed my lips. "Julian, why are you being so good to me?"
"Because I love you, silly." Julian gently pinched my rabbit ear. "Clara, I don't need anything from you in return. All I want is for you to have a better life, even if you don't choose to be with me."
Julian flashed a sly, playful grin. "Though, I wouldn't mind a little reward every now and then."
Julian suddenly leaned in closer, his warm breath brushing against my bare skin.
I instinctively tried to back away, but Julian pinned my wrists and trapped me against the wall.
He drew closer and closer...
