Arlin drove to his brother’s cabin first. If he knew Nathan at all, and he did, there would be a pile of unfinished projects in the shed behind the cabin. Nathan was great at starting things, but never finishing them. Their parents’ garage had been full of half-finished race cars, birdhouses, and tree forts as they grew up, their father tripping over them half the time and going into a frustrated tirade that their mother scolded him for later. Once Arlin had scrounged around enough, gathering plywood, nails, and a hammer, he set about gathering up whatever cleaning supplies he could find as well.
