Thelma Sabastain:
"No... I cannot go, please, let me stay," I begged him, but he moved away from me and walked back to his seat without looking back at me.
I immediately rushed up to meet him to beg him, "Please, sir... You cannot send me away. I really want to do my internship here, please..."
"No, Thelma! I cannot let you work here, as I cannot stand seeing you here every day in my company. So get out," he said, his voice cold and mean, and I shivered away from him as he was practically sending me away from his office.
I broke out into sobs and replied, "No..."
He swiftly turned around to face me again, anger filling his eyes, and he pinned me to his desk, asking coldly, "Are you sure that you still want to work here with me? And under my watchful gaze too?"
I didn't know what to respond, as my lips trembled to speak, but his sinful lips brushed mine, and he kissed me so passionately that I was left breathless before our lips separated.
I looked at him in confusion, and his office door pushed open while a woman walked in and gasped, "Thelma!!"
I stared at her in shock as she disrupted our moment together.
"Thelma!! Are you still in bed?" Elsa screamed my name as she slammed my room door shut and rushed over to meet me, who was sleeping on my bed.
"Thelma!" She shook me vigorously to wake me up from my dreamy sleep.
"Oh!!" I yawned as I stretched and sat up on my bed.
I lazily stared at Elsa's face before I looked at the wall clock in my room and shouted, "What!! I'm already late for work."
I immediately jumped down from my bed as the time was 7:45 am.
I was supposed to be at MW Group by 8 am, as anything past 8:01 am simply meant that I was late, and I blamed Elsa for not waking me up early. As I yelled at her, "Why didn't you come to wake me up sooner?"
"I'm sorry, Thelma, I forgot that you're going to work today," Elsa apologized, and I paused in front of my bathroom door and asked her, "What were you thinking about? Steven, right?"
"No!" Elsa replied with a cute blush on her face, and I knew well that she was lying to me, as it was so evident on her face that she was thinking about my brother again.
I ignored her and walked into my bathroom to bathe quickly, as I was already late and didn't have time for discussion.
I hurriedly took my bath before stepping out and drying my body as fast as I could. I wore the clothes I had selected the previous day.
It was my first day at work, and I was supposed to look my best and neat to impress my new boss.
I walked up to my room mirror and combed my hair, packing it neatly.
I already knew I was late, and Elsa returned to my bedroom with a tray holding a teacup.
I told her, "Thank you."
And I quickly applied makeup on my face, a little pink gloss on my thin lips.
I dusted my cheeks with brown powder too, and finally applied my expensive Italian perfume, spraying it around myself.
I walked up to my bed and packed my phone and debit card into my black handbag, and I heard a knock on my room door again.
"Oh! Who's there?" I asked from within my room as I walked up to the table where Elsa had placed my tea, picked it up, and drank it.
My mother pushed my room door open and walked into my bedroom, looking elegantly beautiful in her brown dress and black shoes.
I greeted her, "Good morning, Mum."
"Morning, Thelma. Are you still here and eating? It's already 8 o'clock and yet you're still here?" Mom asked me.
I didn't respond to my mother as I finished my tea, and I told her, "Done, Mom. I woke up late, that's why. I'm sorry."
"You don't need to apologize to me, Thelma, and don't forget to visit the hospital as we discussed yesterday. I'm going to my sister's house today, and I won't be back until Saturday, so take good care of yourself while I'm away," Mother said.
"Mum..." I frowned, staring at my Mum's face in surprise, unable to believe she was just telling me about her travel now.
"What's it, Thelma? You are not a kid, and you have Lady Bonnie here and the rest of the maids to look after you while I'm away. Although I will be calling you to know how you're doing too," Mother added.
"Fine, Mom, I'm already leaving for work now," I replied and finally carried my black handbag. I was wearing a white shirt, black pencil skirt, and black shoes.
I exited my room and the second floor, going downstairs with my mother.
I wondered if Steven was around in the house, and if he had returned home last night. As he could've sent for me, and likewise my dad too.
I quickly entered my yellow car as I stepped out to the garage. I ignited the car engine and drove out with two security guards following my car from behind in their vehicle.
I drove out to the road that led to MW Group. The company was new but had grown widely, having many customers and branch offices too, and I already knew the company's location, so I drove towards their company gate.
I arrived at the company at exactly 8:30 am sharp, and I stepped down from my car as I parked in their parking lot, where other fleets of cars were parked.
Then I proceeded into the company building to meet with their Human Resources staff there, as I walked into the lobby of the company, which was a five-story building.
A security man walked up to meet me and asked, "Yes, ma'am, what can we help you with today?"
I smiled at him and stared at his yellow face. He was a tall, middle-aged man, wearing a blue security uniform with a blue beret too.
I could see the other clients walking into the company lobby being ushered towards different sectors of the transparent glass offices and the huge counter with the receptionist's front desk.
I hadn't even researched M.W Group of companies the previous night, as I was too lazy to research about the new company I came to work with, even their CEO, whom Steven had warned me to avoid.
I didn't research the CEO to know exactly who he was, and I stared at the security man's face attending to me again. I told him, "I'm new here, and here's my verification email sent to me last weekend to resume with my training here."
"Hmm, you're an intern student, and you arrived late. Wait here, let me speak to the receptionist over there first," the security man instructed me to wait at their guest seat, but I stood waiting instead of sitting down, as I was so nervous to start working at their company.
I hadn't even been serious about going to my father's company before, and here I was in another huge company, awaiting the security man to return.
I looked around the ground floor and watched the security man walking up to meet the lady behind the counter.
She stared at me with a serious look on her face, not smiling, and she shook her head in disapproval as she spoke to the security man in a tone I couldn't hear.
I got nervous, thinking that I had lost my job with that look on her face, but I waited for the security man to return.
"What did she say?" I asked the security man as he approached me again. He replied, "Come with me, let me take you up to the HR office. As all the new staff as of today have been registered by 8 am and introduced to our boss's assistant earlier today, like she said, but you arrived late, so come with me, please."
I gulped as I silently followed the security man towards the elevator, and we entered it and went up to the second floor.
