Thelma Sabastain:
I woke up late at night in my bedroom, the sound of knocking on my room door waking me from sleep. I stood up from my bed and walked to my room door to find out who was there, as sleep was very far from my eyes.
I approached my room door, pulled it open, and saw my mother standing there. She frowned at me as I made way for her to walk into my bedroom.
"Good evening, Mom," I greeted her, as I shut my room door and turned to face her. She asked me, "Thelma, didn't I tell you to remind me today that we would be going to the hospital? I totally forgot about it due to my disagreement with your father about having you betrothed to Felix. And you didn't even come to remind me of it, why, Thelma?"
I frowned and replied, "Mom, I told you that I'm fine, and I cannot remember anything wrong with me or the man."
"I know, Thelma, and I'm not disputing that with you, but for safety measures, I think it's best that you visit Doctor Amari's office tomorrow evening after you've closed from work. Meet with Doctor Amari to help you cleanse your womb, as she's very trusted and a qualified doctor to do that."
"Ugh... Okay, Mom," I agreed as I yawned and asked her, "Anything else that you want me to do, Mom?"
"No, Thelma, only that. And good luck with your training tomorrow at MW Group, as I cannot wait for you to take over your father's company and resume as the new CEO there," Mom said, then turned to walk away from my room. I didn't press on why I should be the CEO of BEEH Group when Steven was already there.
I finally replied to Mom, "Okay, Mom. I'm hungry now, so I'm going downstairs for dinner."
"Yes, Thelma, like I said, don't forget to meet with Doctor Amari tomorrow, as I don't want to hear any story about you becoming pregnant by a stranger, and know that you're my only child. Like the proverb says, prevention is better than cure. So do the needful," Mother reminded me, and I sighed, "Okay, Mom."
I finally exited my bedroom and went downstairs to the dining room with my mother.
We sat around the dining table to have our dinner, as it was already after 8 pm. I stared at Dad and Steven as they walked up to the dining table to join us for dinner.
Juliet, Amara, Rita, and Elsa all walked out from the kitchen with trays of our separate dinners in their hands and approached the dining table to serve our dinner.
I could see Steven staring at Elsa as she served my dinner in front of me, and I met his gaze too.
I was having a hard time believing that Steven wasn't the man I had slept with, as Steven somehow looked like the man I had a one-night stand with.
Elsa served my beans and plantain in front of me, and I picked up my spoon to start eating as soon as Mom finished blessing the food.
I met Steven's gaze again as we sat across from each other at the dining table. He looked stern, his face somehow angry, as he kept that distant look on his face.
I knew it was solely because I had disrupted his conversation with Elsa during the day when I barged into his room without even knocking first on his bedroom door.
I wasn't yet ready to lose Elsa as my maid, as I had already adopted Elsa as my younger sister. So it was best for Steven to go out and look for a bride; besides, he's old enough to marry, and aside from his playful nature with us at home, Steven didn't have any girlfriend that I knew of or had heard of.
I finally looked back at my meal as I avoided Steven's gaze, but then I remembered how the dark-skinned handsome man with silver, colorless eyes had stared at me in pain.
Looking up at Steven's face again, as Steven had that distant look on his face, I wondered if Steven was truly him, but the house...
Did Steven have a secret mansion somewhere else? As I could remember, the mansion was much bigger than our home, and the maids too.
"No..." I subconsciously whispered to myself, and my mother, seated right next to me, looked at me with worry and asked, "Is everything alright, Thelma?"
"Yes, Mom," I quickly replied, and I could see Steven's eyes finally staring at me calmly, but I knew he was annoyed with me, though I didn't care.
We ate the delicious dinner silently, and after we were through with our dinners, I stood up first from the dining table, wanting to retire back upstairs to my room to rest on time since I would be leaving very early for work the following day.
But Dad immediately called me, "Thelma..."
"Yes, Dad," I answered as I turned back to look at Dad. I stood beside the living room and stared at my family seated in the dining room.
Dad said, "Thelma, has Steven informed you that you're to resume at MW Group tomorrow?"
"Yes, Dad," I answered quickly, and Dad sighed, "Hmm, ensure that you do as Steven has told you to, and keep your distance from Mavin White. I don't want to hear stories or for you to reopen an old wound, is that understood?"
"Yes, Dad. I will only concentrate on my job and avoid the man that Brother has already warned me to avoid," I replied.
"Good, you can leave," Dad dismissed, and I turned to leave, but Dad spoke again, "That reminds me, Thelma, you won't be going there with many guards tomorrow to avoid raising any suspicion about your identity. So you will be going with only two guards as an escort, and after you have closed, they will arrive to bring you home too."
"Okay, Dad," I answered, and Dad finally said, "Thelma..."
"Yes, Dad," I replied as Dad called my name again in a more warning tone.
He said, "Be warned."
"Okay, Dad, can I go upstairs now?"
"Yes, you can leave," Dad dismissed me, and I immediately turned and walked away, heading back upstairs to my bedroom, but I kept thinking about what Dad meant by me not reopening an old wound again.
I sighed and decided not to worry about the wound that I didn't know of, and I walked into my bedroom, approaching my bed to sleep.
I walked out to my room balcony instead to stare out at our surroundings as the night was still young.
I saw Steven walking out to the garage, wearing a blue shirt and black pants, and he spoke with some guards first before he got into his car and drove out from our mansion.
I stood in the balcony for a while before I grew tired and finally walked back into my bedroom to sleep.

**That night, I had a dream...**
"You!"
"What are you doing inside here in my office?" the cold silver-eyed man asked me angrily as I stood across from his office desk.
He was wearing a black suit while I shivered backward in my black pencil skirt and white long-sleeve shirt.
I replied to him, "Nothing, sir. I only came here to work."
"Work?" He scoffed as he swiveled his seat sideways and stood up.
He walked over to meet me, and I nervously moved backward as he approached.
I wanted to run away from his office, but he caught me and forcibly turned me to face him.
"Which work? I thought I warned you to stay away from me," he growled at me as he pinned me to the wall, and I shivered.
I couldn't speak as he stood in front of me, and he trailed his right fingers to touch my pretty face.
I was breathing heavily and met his dark gaze.
He seemed mesmerized and pushed some hair strands behind my earlobe. I opened my mouth to speak, but no words came out due to his closeness to me.
He raised my chin upward and spat, "I cannot let you work for me, so get out!"
