CHAPTER 16

THELMA:

I stepped out from the elevator with the security man and we walked into another section of transparent offices.

I could see the company staff were busy behind their desks and typing on their keyboards too, and I silently followed the security man from behind, as we walked and stopped in front of another office door.

He knocked and finally entered into the office. As I stood outside waiting for him to step out, as he didn't tell me to follow him inside.

I watched him speak to the lady behind the desk and she looked up at me.

The security man stepped out from the office, and he said to me, "You can go inside and see her."

"Okay Sir, thank you," I replied, and the security man left.

I knocked on the office door again, and I walked into the transparent glass office as I could see most of the staff offices around were all having transparent glass walls separating them each.

I stood nervously in front of the office desk and waiting for the lady to be through with what she was typing on her computer, as she looked like my mother's age mate.

The lady finally stopped clicking on her keyboard, and she looked up at me again, and I greeted her, "Good morning, ma'am."

"Good morning, Are you here to work with us?" She asked me in a professional tone, and I got confused and replied, "Yes, ma'am."

"Okay. I will have to introduce you to our boss but first, do you have a white handkerchief with you... or any handkerchief at all?" The lady asked me, and I replied to her, "Yes, ma'am."

"Good. Take it out from your handbag and use it to wipe off your lips to be clean and free from any lipstick, as you can see my lips. Do you see that I didn't rub anything colorful on my lips, so do the same please, and when you're through you let me know as we don't use makeup here." She said.

"Okay, ma'am." I replied.

"Please be fast, so that I can take you to meet with our boss for proper introduction, As I have already introduced the rest that arrived on time and you arrived late, so be quick, let me contact my boss's secretary to know if our boss has arrived."

"Okay, ma'am," I took down my black handbag and took out my handkerchief to wipe off my pink lipstick.

As I was through, I informed her, "I'm through, ma'am."

"Please wait, let me be through with processing of these new names, and I almost forgot to ask you. What is your name and where's the email verification sent to you? So that I can process your name too, and forward it to our boss before you taking you to his office?" The lady asked me, as she hadn't even introduced herself yet to me other than ask me to clean my pink lips.

I quickly took out my phone from my black handbag and showed it to her.

The lady accepted my phone and stared at the screen for a while, and probably reading my name.

She stared back at me as I looked downward, and she asked, "Thelma Sabastian..?"

"Yes, ma'am," I replied.

"Are you in any way related to the CEO of BeeH group?" She asked.

"No, ma'am," I lied, and I knew that I shouldn't have lied about my family, but the woman quickly believed my lie as she said, "That's fine. I wouldn't want to believe that the CEO of BH Group, would allow his child to come work here with us. But that's aside, as I never heard of anyone else related to him, except his wife and son, Steven. So you're welcome, Miss Thelma Sabastian, to MW Group."

"Come with me, let me take you to our boss and show you around to some of our top staff offices. As all the new interns as of today were males and you're the only new female among us.. Although our boss doesn't accept much younger ladies like your size to work here with us. But never mind, I'm Mrs. Elena Brown, and the HR department staff here. So I will give you a quick tour of our company and finally take you up to the top floor to see our boss.. As I was just been informed that our boss's assistant is in a business meeting now, and the boss isn't yet around. So come with me."

I gulped and followed Mrs. Elena Brown outside of her office, and she kept speaking to me in a hushed tone as she gave me a quick guide of their company offices.

Mrs. Elena Brown wore a black suit and black heel shoes, and she walked out majestically from her office as she ushered me to follow her from behind.

We approached the elevator on the second floor, and entered into it, and she said, "You are a junior staff here, So I will assign you to your coach first, but that's after you've met with our boss, for your final interview with us."

"Okay, ma'am," I answered, and we went up to the fifth floor first.

Mrs. Elena Brown gave me a quick introduction to the team working on the fifth floor, and she introduced me to the four new intern guys working there with them.

They smiled at me, and I greeted them, "Well done."

"We are going now to the fourth floor, as we have the meeting hall on the third floor, and more likely, our cafeteria is on the second floor, as the ground floor is the receptionist area."

"Okay, ma'am," I answered, as most staff's transparent offices were using computing devices, and that didn't require any stress.

Mrs. Elena Brown finally took me to the fourth floor and she said, "Here we have our Boss's office and the top staff members that are working here with us, so come with me."

"Okay," I followed Mrs. Elena Brown silently and we stopped in front of a lady's front desk.

Mrs. Elena Brown spoke to me, "Here's our boss's secretary, Mrs. Tonia Briggs."

"Good morning, ma'am" I greeted Mrs. Tonia, but she only gave me a nod, while Mrs. Elena asked her, "How are you doing today, Tonia, this one that you're looking grumpy this morning didn't you sleep well last night? I thought that Evans said that the Boss isn't yet around or arriving to work today, as he was sick last week, and he couldn't meet up with our top partners meeting with different board of members."

"Shush, Elena... so you don't get me into trouble. And mind you, the Boss just arrived now, and he is in his office. He just requested of me to prepare his appointment with our top clients, and send it to him. So leave now as I have works to do," Mrs. Tonia said, and she looked back at her computer screen and resumed clicking on the keyboard very fast.

I saw Mrs. Elena quickly composed herself as she heard that their boss was around. I could see the other female staff too, were rather seriously focused on their works.

As the fourth floor offices was calmer and dead silent than the fifth floor above that was lively, and I wished I was been posted there to work with them.
