The rise of Luna Astrid

The Frosty Mountain Pack had been Astrid's home her whole life. The pack was ruled by Alpha Christian and Luna Sally. They had two children between them, a 21-year-old son named Tristan who was the future alpha of the pack, and an 18-year-old son named Samuel. Astrid was born here and spent the last 17 and a half years within its borders. Astrid Martin was 17, it was currently a month before her 18th birthday, she was quite short, standing only 5ft 1, she had long jet black hair that reached her bottom. Astrid's parents, Anthony and Amelia, were the Gamma pair of the pack. This meant that Astrid and all of her siblings were trained from an extremely young age to be warriors. Their training began at age 7, regardless of whether they were male or female. Every member of the Martin family trained in the same way. Astrid has an older sister named Adeline who was 21 and yet to find her mate, and two 15-year-old brothers, Aiden and Axel. Their family was always close, shared experiences and spent a lot of time together. That seemed to slow down 3 years ago when Adeline and the pack's future Alpha Tristan, had ceased their relationship on the orders of the Alpha. Adeline and Tristan had dated for 3 years, both were adamant that the other would be their fated mate, they were together all the time. When Tristan and Adeline both turned 18, it became apparent that this was not the case, Alpha Christian was a huge believer in fated mates and wanted Tristan to meet his fated and make her his Luna. Adeline was heart broken and since that day her whole demeanor towards everyone, except Tristan, has changed. She was the source of many fights between my parents and herself, the twins and Astrid would just retreat away somewhere as it wasn't worth listening to in the end. Astrid POV The sun shone through the window straight into my eyes, 'why didn't I close those before bed' I thought to myself, before groaning and rolling out of bed. I had a quick shower, pulled on my clothes for the day, grabbed my backpack and an apple and went to walk out the door to head off to school. The twins had already left for the morning as they usually head to the gym before school, needed to keep themselves fit for the ladies, apparently. I walked towards the door and just as I reached for the door handle, the door flung open, a slightly disheveled looking Adeline stood in the doorway on the porch of our house. "are you alright?" I asked her, a look of concern flooding my face. "As if you give a f**k, little miss perfect", she said to me with a scowl on her face. She barged past me shoving her shoulder into mine, mumbling other profanities as she stormed up stairs, I waited for her door to slam before I left the house. The walk to school was only 15 minutes, it was a nice stroll through a forrest path before I entered a the clearing to the rear of the school grounds, I made a quick scoot across the football and soccer fields and made my way to my locker. I can't wait to finish up for the year and never have to return, i stood there staring blankly into my locker, forgetting where I was as i lost myself in my thoughts. A loud crash pulled me from my own imagination, i took a quick peak to where the noise came from and low and behold my best friend for the past 15 years stood next to me, her eyebrow c****d at me. "Someone's a little jumpy this morning, something you arent telling me?" she asked with a smirk. "Most definitely not, I just zoned out, counting down the days till we are out of this" i responded to her. Steph's family were well known warriors within the pack, Steph and i regularly trained together when we were younger, we'd grown very close to each other over the past 15 years, with only 3 days between our birthdays. "Here comes trouble" Steph said lifting her head slightly in the other direction. I turned to look, even though I didnt need to know who she was talking about. Samuel and his band of followers had walked around the corner, they walked around as if they owned the place, treating everyone as if they were lower than the dirt we walked on. Samuel honestly didnt care about anything, he wasnt going to be the next alpha and he had no interest in become his brothers Beta. Samuel was always flanked by his two best friends Shaun and Keenan, both belonged to warrior families. Samuel leaned against the locker next to my own "Astrid, you beautiful specimen, when are you going to let me take you out on a date", he said with a cocky tone. I shook my head slowly and let out a sigh "Samuel, we've spoken about this before, im waiting for my mate, theres no point starting something that I cant continue" I explained for the hundredth time. "Oh come on, your sister had no issue when she was your age", he whined at me. I looked at him with absolutely 0 expression and said "And you know very well that I am nothing like my sister", grabbing the rest of my stuff, closing my locker and heading towards my classes.
