Chapter 5

Veronica's POV

Sebastián offered to take me to the hospital where my father is admitted.

Everything felt like a Deja Vu because I know that I'd been here. This has already happened but how is that possible. Did I travel back in time but or I am just hallucinating things?

"Mom, Kate, Sebastián Alston, my husband," the words that I uttered felt familiar because those are the exact words that I used to introduce Sebastián to them.

"Alston? The CEO of Alston company?" the way Katelyn whispered in my ear slowly convinced me that I indeed traveled back in time.

Instead of answering her questions I held my head and massage it. Everything is too hard to fathom, how is this possible?!

"How?" Katelyn asked again but unlike the first time that she bug me with this question, this time she didn't receive any answer from me.

I am still in the process of thinking about how this became possible when the doctor and three nurses came in. I stopped wiping my father's hand and looked at them.

"Doc how is my father?" Katelyn asks with the same worry in her voice.

"We run some tests and it shows that his heart is too weak to pump on its own," I remember my knees getting weak upon hearing this news but this time I remained standing. My father's condition will get better I am aware of that so there is no need for me to be weak again only to fall on Sebastián's arm.

" I suggest that we should attach a machine to Francis' body." the doctor uttered and looked in my mother's direction but just like what she did way back, she chose to cry instead of facing the doctor so having no choice my father's doctor turned his head to me.

" You have to decide now Veronica, " same words. I looked at my Mom and Katelyn who looks devastated about my father's situation before nodding my head.

"Do what's best for my father Doc," I answered and smiled at him.

"Follow me you have to sign some papers," I stood up and followed the doctor.

"I'm here," Sebastián uttered on my side as I am busy tailing my father's doctor.

Sebastián held my hand but I brushed his hands off and kept on walking faster than his pace.

He looked shocked maybe because he didn't expect what I did. I am not the dumb Veronica you first meet. I know all your dirty schemes Sebastián you can't fool me this time.

"How long can my father live Doc?" I asked even though I already know the answer but of course, I have to go with the flow. I have to act like a normal person.

"A year," the doctor responded with sadness in his voice. I nod my head and signed the papers and when I am done the doctor excused himself and left us in his office.

"You know you can cry right?" I looked at Sebastián's face and laughed like an insane woman which made his forehead crease finding my reaction unbelievable.

"I am fine," I uttered and this time it is true. My father turned out fine so there is no need for me to overthink his condition. My father is a fighter he was able to surpass this.

"I am good at detecting lies Veronica," he uttered and stared at my face. I fought it and looked at his eyes intently as well as if I were reading his soul.

"Me too, Sebastián. I am good at detecting lies," I uttered and smirked at him.

I might have cried in your arms but now that I traveled back in time I won't allow myself to do that again. I won't allow you to see my weakness ever again.

But Sebastián is hard-headed because he decided to pull me into a tight hug.

"Cry now, Veronica. No one can see you here. I can hear you but I can't see your face so you can cry now. No one will know I promise," Sebastián caressed my hair softly and kissed my temple.

I might have fallen for your tricks but this time I won't allow that to happen.

" Cry now Veronica, " he uttered softly so I started fake sobbing but I can no longer contain it so I burst into laughter.

Sebastián broke off the hug and stared at my face.

"Are you crazy?" he asked with irritation in his voice. I smiled at him and nod my head.

"I guess you married a crazy woman," I replied and stood up leaving him in the doctor's office alone.

I headed back to my father's room alone and called my Mom who is staring blankly at the wall as she always did.

"Mom," I walked in her direction when she didn't respond and gave her a slight tap on her shoulder. She jumped from shock and turned her head on me.

"Mom they will put the machine on Dad's body," I informed her, and upon hearing that she hugged me tightly. Katelyn on the other hand held my hand so I smiled at her.

I wanted to tell them that we had already surpassed this and Dad was able to recover but I know they won't believe and they might look at me like I am insane.

"Dad will be fine Kate," but they still burst into tears and I understand how they feel because I already felt those. I have been here.

"We will get through this," Unlike last time it is not just a motivational word but a stated fact.

After a while, Sebastián showed up and occupied one of the seats inside the room. I walked towards him and looked at his face.

"You can leave now, I can handle myself," I uttered coldly, and there I saw a protest in his eyes and later he worded it out.

"I am your husband I will stay by your side," I chuckled and look at him finding his choice of words ridiculous.

"Husbands who are in love with their wives do that but you aren't," Sebastián moved his face closer to mine.

"I will be, soon," he responded and stared at my eyes intently but this time I fought the intensity of his stare.

"I have no time for your flirty acts Sebastián," I leaned closer until our lips are inches away, "try harder," I whispered and bit my lower lip while looking at him.

"I am just trying to lift your mood I'm sorry," I didn't feel guilty because I know what he is doing now is full of pretensions. I won't be dumb to fall for your trap again.

"Leave," I uttered coldly and pointed at the door. He nodded his head defeated and left the room.

When he was out I carefully sneak out and followed him until he reached the parking lot.

I saw him answering a call and after a while, he spoke.

"I married her," he uttered and roamed his eyes around the parking lot so I immediately hide at the corner.

I saw him smiling while talking to someone. Is that his mistress?

"Yes?" he spoke again and after a while, he sighed before hopping into his car and driving away from the hospital.

I have no car with me but I managed to get Katelyn's key so I used it to follow Sebastián.

After half an hour of tailing his car stopped at the well-known condominium.

He get inside and I was about to follow him when a guard stopped me.

"Can we see your card Ma'am?" he asked politely which made me crease my forehead.

"Visitor's card," he repeated and stared at me. I sighed and walked back to Katelyn's car losing hope that I can get in.

I decided to wait for him but almost two hours have passed he is still not coming out.

"f**k you Sebastián," I uttered as I stare at the entrance of the building.

"Having a good time with your mistress?" I asked as I kept on torturing him inside my head.

Another hour had passed but he didn't come out and maybe because of tiredness I didn't realize that I have fallen asleep inside the car.

I woke up when I heard knocks from the window's car. I rubbed my eyes and slightly open the window.

"Ma'am you have to leave. Your car is illegally parked," the guard informed me which made me leave with no choice but to leave the place without knowing Sebastián's mistress.

I nod my head at the guard and drove away from that building.

"You can't hide your mistress forever Sebastián. I will hunt both of you until my last breath." As I turned the steering wheel my eyes accidentally landed on my wrist.

Those numbers are tattooed on my wrist. I stopped the car and tried wiping those off but I can't erase them.

" f**k! What is this?!" I asked while I am desperately removing it from my skin.

I stared at it for an hour then the number changed.
