Veronica's POV
I stopped at the hospital first before going to the RDC company. I have to stop by to check my father's condition, I already knew that he will recover but I am afraid that as I change my fate his condition in the future will be affected.
"Veronica," Katelyn called me when I came in. I smiled at her and gave her a quick hug.
"How's Dad?" I asked and walked beside my father. I stared at his face first before turning my head to Katelyn.
"According to the doctor he's still in a critical state but his condition got better after attaching the machine to his body," I nod my head and held my father's hand. I squeezed it and smiled at him.
"You'll get better Dad," I uttered.
"Where's Mom Katelyn?" I asked and roam my eyes around the room. I looked at Katelyn intently and waited for her answer.
"She's out meeting someone," she replied then took her phone.
I nod my head but my mind still wonders who's the person my mother is meeting.
"Did she tell you whose she's the meeting?" I asked still intrigued but Katelyn just shook his head and continued talking to someone on her phone.
I haven't noticed Mom going out before or maybe I am just too focused on Dad that I tend to notice the person around me.
After a while, the door swung open revealing Mom. I immediately walked to her side and kissed her on her cheek.
"Good morning Mom," I uttered politely and stared at her face. She just smiled at me and walked toward my father.
"Mom I heard you were out to meet someone, may I know who?" She stopped wiping Daddy's hand. She was stunned by my question unable to formulate any answer.
"Just an old friend," she uttered after a while but I can sense that she was lying, but why would my mother lie to me? Or maybe I am just overthinking things?
The problem with getting betrayed is you lose trust in the people around you, even though you don't want to, you tend to question your actions.
"Okay," I replied and sat beside Katelyn.
I stayed for an hour then after a while I decided to leave.
"Mom, Katelyn, I have to go. I have some work to do in the office," I informed them and took my bag. Katelyn stood up to send me out but my mother didn't even bother to look at me.
"Katelyn," I called my sister's attention. She looked at me intently anticipating my next words.
"Don't you think Mom's acting weird?" I asked, her forehead creased confused by my action.
"I think she's just stressed," she responded. I just nod my head and when we reach the car I thank her before getting in.
I started driving away and during the whole drive, I was busy thinking about so many things. Sebastián and his mistress, and my Mom.
After half an hour of driving, I reached RDC company. I get off with confidence as if I am not carrying any burden. My secretary immediately walked towards me and took my bag.
"Ma'am you have a meeting with Mr. Sawyer this morning," she announced. I nod my head and when we reached the lobby my employees bowed their heads to greet me.
"Good morning Ms. Curtis," they uttered in unison. I just nod my head and walked toward the elevator. I pressed the floor where my office is located and waited for a minute.
"Ms. Curtis the board is still in protest saying you are emotionally unstable to handle this job," I chuckled and looked at my secretary, Ava.
"Do I look emotionally unstable to you?" I asked and she immediately shook her head.
"Where is Mr. Lee?" I asked which made Ava alarmed but answered my question.
"In the meeting room Ma'am," she responded in a shaky voice. I nod my head, when the elevator opened instead of walking towards my office I decided to walk towards the meeting room.
Upon opening the door all eyes were on me. It looks like I interrupted their meeting.
" Mr. Lee, " I called Mr. Lee who is sitting proudly at the center of the meeting room.
"How hard is it to accept that I am the new CEO of RDC company?" I asked which made him freeze in his seat.
"W-what a-are y-you t-talking a-about V-veronica?" he asked stuttering. My lips rose to form a smirk. I couldn't take it anymore so I walked beside him and grabbed his collar.
"Know your place, Mr. Lee," I uttered then forcefully let go of his collar. I stood straight and walked outside with their eyes fixated on me.
I hate that I have to deal with this issue again.
"Ma'am, are you okay?" Ava asked worried about me. I nod my head and continued walking toward my office.
When I finally feel the texture of my swivel chair behind my back, I took a deep breath and leaned my back before closing my eyes.
After a while, I opened my eyes and it landed on my wrist.

Can I change my fate when up to now I still have no clue about Sebastián's mistress?
Sebastián's POV
I am busy signing some papers when a text came in, it was from Sabrina.
From: Sabrina
Babe faster I miss you.
I sighed heavily and continued signing the paper.
How can I get rid of this woman?
A few minutes passed a call came in, I was about to turn off my phone thinking it was Sabrina again but I halt when I saw it is someone important.
"Sir I have talked to Francis' wife," he started.
"What happened?" I asked and anticipated his next information.
"She refused to hand over the contract that your father has signed. She told me that it was long gone." I sighed heavily and massaged my head
"But he knows about my existence right?" I asked, she didn't see my face but I wanted her to know that I am existing. The son of the people they killed is alive.
"Yes Sir, she panicked when she heard about your existence," I smiled and thanked him before dropping the call. That is enough for now, it's a great start for my revenge.
I should be happy but my mood instantly change when Veronica's face crossed my mind. I shook my head and leaned my back on the swivel chair. I closed my eyes and massage my temple.
"Control yourself Sebastián," I uttered but it was no use because her mind keep on crossing my mind. She's like a broken cassette.
"Sir your meeting will start in a few minutes," I nod my head at my secretary and fix my tie before standing up. When I held my tie I remember Veronica again, how she fixed my tie this morning.
I took a deep breath before walking toward the meeting room.
" Good morning Sir, " they uttered in unison when I came in.
"Good morning," I greeted back and occupied the seat at the center.
When I am fully seated I took the folder from the table and scanned it.
"Let's start," I announced when I am done browsing the whole page. The presenter nodded their head and started presenting their report.
I listened intently while processing all the information they were discussing.
"That's all Sir," I nod my head and looked at the board members.
"You can raise your concerns," I informed them, and upon saying that they started raising their suggestions and objections to the proposed projects.
The discussion lasted for another hour and when it is finally over I excused myself to face some matters.
I was interrupted again when Sabrina's text came in.
From: Sabrina
Babe, are you done?
I took a deep sigh and then grab my keys. Sabrina is being a nuisance and I have to deal with her as soon as possible if I wanted everything to go smoothly.
Sabrina is easy to manipulate she just needs sweet lies and then she will obey you like you are her master.
I walked towards the parking lot and quickly get inside my car. I was busy driving along the highway when I noticed a car tailing me and I was right because when I changed lanes it followed me.
I took a different route and drive with no destination and the car is still tailing me. When we reach the road where few cars take, I positioned my car horizontally to stop the suspicious car.
I walked towards it and knock on its window.
I waited for a few minutes before it opened.
"f**k," I cursed when I saw who is inside the car.
"Veronica?!" I blurted out shocked that it was her who's been following me all along.
"Hi," she uttered shyly and slowly lift her head.
I looked at her confused about why she was there.
"Why are you following me?" I asked. Did she know about Sabrina?
She stared at me for a few minutes then after a while burst into tears.
"I'm sorry," those are words she kept on mumbling.
"Why are you following me?" I repeated and waited for her answer.
She kept on shaking her head firm that she won't answer my questions. I took a deep breath and waited for her to calm down.
"What are you doing here?" I asked again but just like earlier, she didn't respond.
"Answer me, Veronica, why are you following me?" I asked with gritted teeth.
She took a deep breath and then looked at my eyes intently.
"Do you have a mistress Sebastián?" she asked which made me freeze in place.
Did she know about Sabrina?
