The PA led Lexi to the car, and they all got in - Lexi in the back seat, the mysterious man beside her, and the PA in the front passenger seat. The driver, a stern-looking man with a buzz cut, nodded at them in the rearview mirror and started the engine.
As they drove through the city streets, Lexi couldn't help but feel a sense of surrealism. Was she really getting married to a stranger today? The PA handed her a folder containing the contract, and she began to scan it, her eyes widening at the terms.
"This is a lot to take in," she said, feeling overwhelmed.
"Everything will be explained at the lawyer's office. Just sign where indicated, and we'll get everything settled."
The car pulled up to a sleek glass building, and they all got out. The lawyer's office was on the top floor, and they were greeted by a friendly receptionist who led them to a conference room.
A middle-aged man with a kind face introduced himself as the lawyer and began explaining the terms of the contract. Lexi listened, still feeling dazed, as he walked her through the agreement.
After what felt like an eternity, the lawyer handed her a pen. "Sign here, please, Lexi."
She hesitated for a moment, then signed her name. The mysterious man signed beside her, and the PA witnessed the signatures.
The lawyer smiled.
"Congratulations, you two. You are now married."
Lexi felt a sense of shock wash over her. She was married. To a stranger. For a year.
The mysterious man turned to her and smiled, his eyes glinting with amusement.
"Shall we celebrate, wife?"
Lexi's eyes widened in surprise. "Celebrate? You want to celebrate this...this arrangement?"
The mysterious man chuckled.
"Why not? It's a binding contract, after all. And I always celebrate my business deals."
Lexi shook her head.
"This isn't a business deal. It's a marriage."
The man shrugged.
"Semantics, my dear. Let's just say it's a mutually beneficial arrangement. And I always reward myself when I close a deal."
The PA cleared his throat.
"Shall we head to the ceremony, sir?"
The mysterious man nodded. "Yes, let's get this over with. The sooner we get the ceremony done, the sooner we can start our...arrangement."
Lexi felt a sense of trepidation as they all got up and headed out of the conference room. She had no idea what she was getting herself into, but she knew she had to see this through.
As they drove to the ceremony location, Lexi couldn't help but wonder what the next year of her life would be like. Married to a stranger, living a lie...it was all so surreal.
When they arrived at the ceremony location, a small chapel, Lexi's heart sank. This was really happening. She was really getting married to a man she didn't know.
The ceremony was brief and impersonal, with only the PA and the lawyer as witnesses. Lexi felt like she was on autopilot as she repeated her vows and exchanged rings with the mysterious man.
As they were pronounced husband and wife, Lexi felt a sense of resignation wash over her. She was trapped in this arrangement for the next year, and she had no idea what lay ahead.
As they left the chapel, the mysterious man turned to her and smiled.
"Well, wife, it's official. We're married."
Lexi felt a shiver run down her spine at the way he said "wife". It was so possessive, so intimate. She pushed the feeling aside and tried to focus on the practicalities of her situation.
"What now?" she asked, trying to sound calm.
"Now, we go home," he replied, leading her to the car. "We have a lot to discuss, and I want to show you your new home."
Lexi's mind raced as they drove through the city. What would her new home be like? Would she have any freedom, or would she be trapped in this arrangement?
When they arrived at a grand mansion on the outskirts of the city, Lexi's eyes widened in shock. This was her new home?
The mysterious man smiled as he led her inside. "Welcome to our home, Lexi. You'll find it quite...comfortable."
As they entered the opulent foyer, Lexi felt like she was stepping into a different world. One where she was a trophy wife, a pawn in a game she didn't understand.
And as she followed the mysterious man up the stairs, she couldn't help but wonder what lay ahead. As they reached the top of the stairs, he led her to a beautiful bedroom with a stunning en-suite bathroom. The room was decorated in a style that was both elegant and modern, with a large four-poster bed as the centerpiece.
"This is your room," he said, his voice low and husky. "You'll find everything you need in here. Clothes, toiletries, everything."
Lexi nodded. This was her new home, and she was expected to live here with a man she didn't know.
"What about your room?" she asked, trying to sound casual.
He smiled, his eyes glinting with amusement. "Oh, I have my own quarters. You don't have to worry about me disturbing you, Lexi. You have your own space."
Lexi felt a sense of relief wash over her. At least she wouldn't have to deal with him every night.
As he turned to leave, she called out to him. "Wait, what's your name?"
He turned back to her, a hint of surprise on his face. "I'm sorry, Lexi. I forgot to introduce myself. My name is Marcus Blackwood."
And with that, he was gone, leaving Lexi alone in her new bedroom.
