Chapter 8.5
On the day of my birthday, Grey came to see me. I invited him to attend my party and he said yes without hesitation. We were really having fun while we were on our way to the resort. The guys keeps on throwing jokes and Jim and Mariah’s sweetness is oveload - we can never forget that part.
“We’re here!” shouted Jinny. I looked outside the car’s window and she was right. The arch of the resort was made of wood and iron that was bended to form it like a wave. After we settled on our cottage, Jinny and Mariah started to take off their shirts and shorts. I never knew that they were this ready. I mean… they were already wearing their two piece bikinis before we got here. I saw how they ran on the sand and onto the sea water. Jimmy had no choice but to follow the two. He took off his black shirt and all that was left was his aqua colored board shorts and he too, headed to them.
“Are you not going to the beach?” asked Grey. We are the only ones left in the cottage. I just smiled and shook my head.
“I’m not used to beaches and I don’t feel like swimming today. I just want to look at them while they happily splash the sea water in each other and run around like kids do. You are not joining them?”
“Nah! I want to stay where you are.” He was looking at the sea and so he did not see me blush. I bit my lower lip to compose myself and I was happy that I did it before he looked at me.
“Want to call for lunch? I bet you are hungry.”
“You’ll go there? Are you sure?” I asked him. It’s my pary afterall so I need to do every single thing because they are my visitors.
“Of course. You must do nothing today since it is your birthday. Don’t worry, I can do anything just fine.” He winked at me and he step out of the cottage. I guess there is no turning back then.
Jimmy, Jinny and Mariah went back to take their lunch. The just just put cover ups on their body. They sang a birthday song for me and let me blow a candle above the cake like I was some five year old kid having a birthday party.
“Seriously, you don’t need to buy me a cake guys. I’m not a kid anymore.” I said while I was chuckling.
“Cakes are not just for kids Miracle,” says Jinny. I just laughed a bit as I saw how cutely she ate – not the demure type of cute but cute in a way that she eats like she never had eaten anything for days.
“Hey you piggy, can you calm down? There are a lot of foods here.”
“Don’t say a word Jim. I’m famished. I need to feed all the creatures inside my stomach – anaconda, dragon, worms, and everything. Just eat there. And hey, food is lifer! Better than your ex. These spicy foods here are hotter than your next.”
“What’s beautiful to my eyes is only my babe here.” Jinny rolled her eyes. And I know that she’s disgusted by how clingy his brother is to Mariah. On the other hand, Mariah blushed and bowed her head low while biting her lower lip.
After the lunch, the two girls went to the sand for they will sunbathe. I am not fond of sunbathing either. The radiation is too much and I hate sun burns. I saw Grey was busy texting. He keeps on smiling as he looked at his phone. Who could it be? Her Grandma? Mike? His Mom?
I went to sit on his side and he instantly kept his phone. Something is fishy here. I tried to peek but he turned his phone off already. Okay, respect privacy.
“Who are you texting?”
“My Mom. She’s being funny again. I don’t know what’s in her mind. Anyway, are you just staying here? Don’t you want to enjoy frolicking under the sun?”
“The sun is harsh today. I have plans later at sunset. You wanna come with me?”
“That sounds fun. So…”
“So…” We just laughed because we can’t think of a topic. There are instances that this happens and I know that some of you can relate to this.
The orange glow mixed with purple, pink and blue hues makes the sky look enchanting. A very beautiful sunset always captivates every human eye and put a smile on their lips. I looked at the horizon and the sparkling sea beneath became a colorful sheet the ripples as the wind teases it.
Beside me is Grey, he looks at 4he beautiful sunset too. My heart beat faster than usual as I was enchanted by him. This is the right time I guess. The right time to try something new and open my heart to possibilities.
“Grey, isn’t the sunset beautiful? Are you reminded of something?”
“It is breathtaking. I never knew that there is such a place where sunset is more colorful. For me, I am reminded that no matter how long and tiring the day is, there is something that is beautiful at the end.”
“That’s poetic. Honestly, I just see the sunset as a normal and plaain phenomenon in life but I guess today, my perspective will change.”
“Why? Did something happened?”
“Something will happen Grey. How many times did I turned you down so far?”
“Uhmm… 99? Why?” he answered. He was a bit hesitant when he did. I think he is embarassed by the fact that he was rejected 99 times already by me.
“Just asking. I don’t want it to reach one hundred. You and I happens under this beautiful phenomenon.”
He fell silent and sighed. Don’t he want to…
“Wait! Am I thinking the right thing… are you saying that… are we…” he stuttered and he looked at me with wide eyes. He looked like a doe caught on the headlight.
“Don’t stutter. It makes you look cuter in my eyes. And you are thinking right. I don’t want to drag your agony if we are feeling the same. There is nothing that hinders us so I said, why not? We make this whole relationship work. I like you too Grey.” I saw him blushed.
“Are you blushing right now? Wait let me see.”
“Don’t come near me Miracle. It’s embarassing.” He covered his face with his both hands. I tried to look at him and take a peek on his face and he keeps on looking away.
“You look like a tomato. A pretty tomato. Hahahahaha!”
“Eyy! I’m no pretty. I’m handsome.”
“Says who?”
“Says me. Anyway, come on now. It’s getting dark…”
I stopped on the mid-sentence and my eyes widened. He hugged me tight. I felt like my heart beats triple than usual and my lungs stopped working. I felt the cold land breeze and warm sea breeze mixing as they touched my skin. It creates a sensation that I have never felt before.
“Thank you for letting me a part of you. Thank you for everything Miracle,” he whispered to my ear. I closed my eyes too savor the moment. I slowly girthed my arms around his waist as I hugged him tight.
“Thank you too Grey. Please take care of my heart.”
“I will my princess.”
“So, you’re telling me that you are my prince?”
“Hmm… prince charming.”
“Prince that is not so charming.”
“Even we are together now, you always bully me.” I can picture out that he is pouting already. I chuckled and soon we were pulled aaway from each other as I heard Mariah and Jinny squealed.
“Oh my gee!”
“Is this real? Woah!”
I looked at them and nodded. they covered their mouths with their hands, probably to prevent them from screaming loud. From that moment until night, all they did was to tease me and Grey.
“Hey new lovers, don’t sleep in one room tonight. You may become three or four tomorrow,” says Jinny. Huh? Why three or four?
“Why three or four? Will I and him duplicate? I don’t that will happen.”
I saw all of them face pallmed and Grey who was beside me bit his lip to suppress his laughter.
“You seriously have no future girl. Jinny here, meant to say that something hot might happen to the both of you tonight and tomorrow… ting dong ding! You’ll get pregnant,” Mariah explained. Wait, what? They really think I will do that?
“I’m too young for that guys.”
“There is no age limit when it comes to that thing. And hey! You are already and adult. Don’t act like a kid.”
I just shrugged and looked at the bonfire before us. The twigs crackled as the fire touches them and burnt them to ashes. The glowing embers rise up, creating a beautiful scenery before the pitch dark surrounding. I felt the sand beneath my skin, it pierces me but I just let it be.
I am hoping that my decision today is right. I hope that I don’t regret my choice in the future. I looked at Grey who was chatting with my colleages. He is the only guy that made me feel welcomed and comfortable. He has aa golden heart and he saved me without him noticing that. I guess he is worth it.
He maybe noticed that someone is staring at him that is why he raised his head and our gazes met. He smiled at me sweetly, flashing his perfectly lined pearly white teeth. He really could pass as a toothpaste model because of that and his smile is charming too. I saw how the orange glow of the fire reflected on his eyes that made his gaze morre intense. He is melting me from the inside. Slowly, I think I am opening my heart and I am trying to ready myself to love such an amazing guy.
“Hey, I think you should look at something else girl. Your guy might melt when you continue to shamelessly eye r**e him,” Mariah whispered to my ear. I did not know when she sat beside me because the last time I check, she was on the other side of the place. I faced her with a frown.
“Seriously? Can you pick a more decent word? No one eye r***s someone.”
“Oh believe me you are. You know, I see the intensity of the gaze. It was burning. Much more hot than the flame before us. You were looking straight to his eyes and he is unnerved. His gazes reflects yours and poof! Something magical will happen later.”
I just shook my head. Mariah loves imagining things. Aigoo! I yawned and poked Mariah who looked at me.
“I will go ahed now. I am so sleepy.” She just nodded in response and I went straight to the rooms.
