CHAPTER 1: THE AVENGER FROM A FALLEN CLAN
Amidst the mist-covered mountains and serene silence stood the Azure Dragon Sect, one of the most powerful sects revered across the Eastern Region. Under towering pine trees cloaked in fog, golden-roofed temples and towers stood tall, like heavenly palaces descended to earth.
But beneath this grandeur was a boy no one cared to notice.
Ye Qing.
A servant. An orphan. A nameless figure in the sect’s records.
“What are you doing there, Ye Qing? Finish cleaning the arena before the elders arrive!” shouted a blue-robed disciple—one of the low-ranking initiates of the Azure Dragon Sect.
Ye Qing paused briefly. His hands were wounded, callused, and dirty. But his eyes… they were cold. Sharp. Like a rusted sword that refused to die.
“Yes, I’ll finish it right away,” he replied softly.
As he swept away dry leaves and cleaned the bloodstains from the last sparring match, memories of that one night from his childhood came flooding back.
Ten years ago...
A peaceful evening in the Ye Clan village vanished in a blaze of fire and screams. Blood. Death. Chaos.
“Protect Ye Qing! Don’t let the elders of the Blood Shadow Sect reach him!” yelled his father, the clan leader.
But it was too late.
A mysterious man with blood-red eyes and a black cloak appeared amidst the flames. With a single strike, his father and mother fell. As Ye Qing’s vision faded, a blue tattoo on his arm lit up—a dragon burning inside his very flesh.
When he awoke, he found himself alone near a mountain slope. The Azure Dragon Sect took him in, not as a disciple, but as a lowly servant. No one believed he came from a powerful bloodline. No one knew what had happened to his clan. He kept it all buried inside.
Present day...
“Hmph. You, entering the sect examination? You’ll die in the first round.”
The boy mocking him was Zhao Fen, an arrogant disciple and the son of an elder.
Ye Qing didn’t answer. He endured the insult and picked up the rag.
As the sun began to set, he slipped away to a hidden cave at the base of the mountain—a forbidden place within the sect. But for Ye Qing, it was the only quiet refuge. The only place he could hear the voice.
A mysterious voice had spoken to him for the past two years, ever since the dreams of the burning blue dragon began.
“You carry the Heaven-Slaying Bloodline. It’s time to awaken it. Stop living like a dog.”
He turned his head.
“What do you mean? How do I awaken it?”
“Beneath this cave lies a hidden altar. Buried in it is the Dragon Abyss Sword. You can only grasp it once. If you fail, you die.”
Ye Qing didn’t hesitate.
He entered a narrow passageway, the shadows clinging to his every step. At the end lay an ancient altar, carved from stone and etched with symbols from a forgotten era. In its center, a black sword crackled with blue lightning.
Holding his breath, he reached out and grabbed it.
A burst of energy exploded from the blade. Blue light surged into his veins, his body trembling as if struck by divine thunder. His meridians stretched to their limits. But his heart—unshaken.
When the light faded, the weak and forgotten Ye Qing was gone. In his place stood someone reborn.
Foundation Establishment – Level 1.
In one night, he crossed a boundary no servant had ever crossed in a lifetime.
Days passed...
The day of the Inner Sect Examination arrived.
Before thousands of disciples and elders, Ye Qing stood silently, wearing a ragged blue robe. No one recognized him. No one believed in him.
“Next match: Ye Qing vs Zhao Fen!”
Laughter echoed.
“Haha! That servant’s going to die right away!”
But when the battle began, it was over in an instant. Zhao Fen flew through the air, bleeding and unconscious before anyone even saw what happened.
Silence.
The elders exchanged glances.
“Impossible… His strength… He’s not ordinary.”
“Check his meridians. Something’s unusual about this one.”
Ye Qing said nothing. He looked up at the sky.
“This is only the beginning. I will burn to ashes everyone who destroyed my clan. The Blood Shadow Sect will fall.”
