The grocery store

After a couple of hours, I made it back towards the car, seeing that Mason was already waiting for me. He looked up at me as he shook his head. Well, clearly We had both found nothing. I nodded back at him as I pressed my lips together, it had only been a good week since we had started searching, but until now we had found absolutely nothing, not even a sign or a pack that could lead us closer, nothing. “Want to go for a quick swim? It’s hot as hell today.” I sighed as I took off my tshirt, throwing it inside the car. Mason nodded, smiling for the first time today. “ OK, cool.” We both made our way to the beach, seeing my mate was spread out on a huge towel, her eyes closed while she was sun bathing. I grinned as I slowly ran over to her, my hands scooping underneath her as I ran towards the water. She yelped, knowing immediately it was me, as she held on to my neck. I ran in the water, feeling the water was almost as hot as the outdoor temperature. I turned and looked at Mason, Ava still lying in my arms. “s**t, so far for the ‘cooling off’ part!” Mason stepped in, rolling his eyes to the back of his head. “Seriously, is there something in this state that isn’t a million degrees?" The three of us went in anyway as we took a short swim. Afterwards, we stayed on the beach until the Florida sun had dried us completely, before we went back to the car. I looked at my watch, seeing it was already two o’clock. “Want to go grab something to eat? Then we can head to the everglades. I think we’re not going to find anything up here anyway.” Everyone agreed, so once we were done, we stepped inside the car and made our trip back towards civilization. Making it back to Islamorada, we stopped at this nice café, since being in Florida, everything was placed outside right on the beach. I was holding Ava’s hand as we made our way to the dining place, feeling her jump up and down at the sight of this place. And I had to agree with her, this place looked like a piece of heaven. Tables and chairs in all the colors of the rainbow were spread across the beach, standing on the whitest sand you could ever imagine, palm trees were connected to each other with string lights and a massive white house which would be a bed and breakfast or maybe a place you could rent out to get married or something, was built on the left side, giving views over the ocean. Ava just boomed, as a smile reached from one ear to the other. Making me happy, just to watch her. We placed ourselves as a waiter came to take our order, we grabbed a quick lunch, which we finished in ten minutes. We didn’t have breakfast this morning, so we were all starving at this point. Once we were finished and Mason stepped inside to pay the bill, which I already knew he would not do, we walked back to the car as we started our ride back. This time, Ava was still in awe of the beauty of this place, that she didn’t mind Mason’s little spells on the waiter. We drove into the everglades, seeing one tourist attraction after the next. None of us, being werewolves, had the urge to go and see alligators, so we just drove past them. Mason was driving, while me and Ava were relaxing in the backseat. She was spread over the backseat as her head was lying on my lap, my fingers were smoothly running through her black and shiny locks as my other hand had its fingers intertwined with hers. I was just looking down at my mate, enjoying my view as Mason cleared his throat. “We’re at the next spot, want to come along?” I looked up, checking outside. “It’s just another tourist trap Mason, sure you are right about this?” Mason leaned to the front, to get a better look at the building in front of us. “If Ava’s list is correct, it should be here.” Ava playfully pulled at some curls in my neck, grinning at me. “My list is always correct.” I leaned down as I kissed her briefly. “Stay here and rest, my love, we will be right back.” She nodded, as she laid herself down, closing her eyes once I got out of the car. I looked at Mason before I shifted my gaze back to the small building in front of me. It looked like a small grocery store, but by the looks of it, no tourists would take the time or effort to stop at this place. It screamed –move along- but I shrugged and made my way towards the door, seeing that, indeed, nobody was inside, except for the man standing behind the register. “Afternoon.” He spoke as he turned and looked at a computer screen standing next to him. Mason nodded as he went down one of the isles. I walked straight up to the guy, standing behind the big wooden counter. “Can I help you with something?” The man asked as he looked at me, probably wondering what we were doing here anyway. I nodded “Any chance we can speak with your Alpha?” The man behind the counter tilted his head. “My what?” I sighed as I rolled my eyes. OK great, one of those. “Me and my friend are the Beta and Gamma of the Denali pack, and we would like to get a word with your Alpha, please.” The man kept looking at me, maybe he thought if he looked long enough, I would sink into the ground. But after a good ten seconds, he sighed as he looked at his computer screen. “He’ll be here shortly.” I nodded, thinking to myself that the man was probably mind linking with others, while he was looking so quiet to me. *The Alpha is on the way* I linked to Mason, who was walking up to me with his hands filled with bags of chips and oreo cookies. “What the hell are you doing?” I whispered at him as I looked at all the items he was carrying. “What? I am a grown wolf, I need food, that quick and romantic lunch didn’t fill my stomach at all.” I smirked watching him walk towards the counter. *better pay for that, or no more romantic lunches for you, Gamma* Mason turned around as he gave me a huge grin. Lucky for him, I saw him taking his wallet out of his back pocket, as soon as he had placed everything down. A bell rang as the door opened once again, making room for a body builder, who was two heads bigger than me or Mason. He crossed his arms as he looked at me, trying to look intimidating. I was just trying my best not to start laughing out loud. “Who requested to speak with our Alpha?” I nodded as I stepped forward. “That would be us. Beta and Gamma of the Denali pack.” The body builder coughed as he looked at me. “Beta? The Beta of the Denali pack is Sam.” I sighed. Is this some test or something? “He was, until two months ago, when Alpha Jensen passed his tittle on to Alpha Kai, the same night as when Beta Sam passed his tittle on to me, so here we are.” The man nodded as he opened the door. “You have some big shoes to fill, literally and figuratively, that man was huge. I nodded, thinking it would be wise not to say anything about my mate’s father, one wrong word about her daddy and she would have my balls and keep them in her purse for the rest of her life.
