CHAPTER FIVE

RYAN “Don’t drag me into this,” I said without looking up. “Come on Ryan! Help me this one time!” Eva said batting her eyelashes. I sighed. “Aunt Cecile will be on our tails if anything goes wrong,” I looked up at her closing the book that I was reading. “She won’t! I’ll make sure of that,” she said innocently. My cousin is anything but innocent. It just doesn’t go with her personality. “Just do what I say and walk off,” she ranted again. “Okay. What do you want me to do?” I asked her annoyed. She stood up from the chair she was sitting on. “Stay near the entrance doors. When Janet comes tell her that Mr. Gray wanted her to meet him in his office before classes start.” “What next?” I asked getting up to get to the front doors. “That’s it,” she said, “Your job is done,” getting out the front door to her Ford Focus. “See you at school brother,” she said as she drove out the drive way. I walked to my red Porsche Cayman. I slid into the seat and started driving towards school. As I was driving my mind went back to what I had to do. I felt bad for Janet. I would not have agreed to this if it wasn’t for that mutt Aaron. Poor girl. What can she do when her brother is a pain in the ass? Wait! Was he her brother or uncle or… Who cares? On my way to school I stop by the cemetery to visit my parents. I do that every day. It feels like yesterday they were alive and today they are gone. I miss them so much. It’s been six years. Placing the white orchids at the gravestones I sit there quietly for some time. White orchids are the reason my parents met. They were humans then. My parents used to grow them in our backyard. They loved it because that reminded them of their humanity before they were turned. Kissing the top of the gravestones I get back to my car and drive back to school. I’m always early to school. Don’t take me for a sincere guy. It’s that I get to bang some human girls and have fresh blood at the same time. When the school is empty there is no chance of getting caught. A little compulsion is all it takes! I park my car in my usual spot. Taking a look at my surroundings I wait for Janet. The school is almost empty except for the janitors and some sophomores warming up for football practice. After standing for about fifteen minutes outside I decided to sit inside my car. I shuffled through radio stations till I found the one I needed. Turning up the volume I look outside the window to confront Janet as soon as she arrives. After what seems like ages, students start rolling in as the parking space becomes crowded. I get out of my car slinging my bag over my shoulder as I wink at some random girls. They look at me as if they want me to f**k them right then, right there. Damn Eva! You wasted my morning! I walk past them and stand next the entrance door. Not finding my target I focus my hearing to hear Janet’s voice. “..It’s possible but there won’t be any proof. Don’t you worry Eva,” someone said. “Just make it look natural, like an accident. Run really fast,” there comes my cousin’s voice, “and don’t turn back,” she said. My concentration snapped when a sports bike entered the school vicinity. I saw Janet riding behind the rider. Every eye came to a halt at them. The bike came to a stop and Janet got down from it. I narrowed my eyes wishing to see through the helmet. I heard gasps when the helmet went off. Putting the helmet on one of the rear view mirrors, stood the most beautiful girl I had ever seen. She swiped her hand through her chocolate brown hair which fell down to her shoulders. She walked swiftly past the statues of students staring at her. She walked together with Janet to the entrance. She went right past me and into the building avoiding the gazes. Her scent hit me like a wall making me stumble back a little. She smelled like white chocolate mixed with raspberry syrup. She’s human? What the hell is she doing with a werewolf! Like a lost puppy I followed them keeping a good distance. They went to the front desk my eyes never leaving her. She talked to the attendant and she led them to the principal’s office. I waited outside for her to come out. After some minutes Janet came out first followed by that girl and the principal. The principal said something to her while shaking her hand that sent her smiling. Whoa! Can she stop being anymore beautiful? My heart thumped crazily when she moved towards me. She eyes met mine on the way to the lockers and she smiled! She smiled! At me! I couldn’t even come close to describe my condition at that time. I’m the player here! Not her! After getting the things from her locker, Janet said something to her as she looked down to herself. Realizing something she ran the chain of her leather jacket down. My eyes popped out of my sockets. She stood there, with just a black tank top, black skinny jeans and combat boots, setting trend of the year. Not only boys but also girls ogled her body up and down. She looked totally badass with the huge statement pendant hanging from her neck making its way over her hot bust and down to her belly button. I made my way to her remembering what I was supposed to do. “Janet! Wait!” I called up from behind. That made her stop and look behind. Getting in front of them I told her, “Mr. Gray is looki….” The words trailed from my mouth as soon my eyes met hers. I felt hypnotized by the icy blue orbs. The blue in her eyes was so soothing and warm, it made me dizzy. “..Ryan! Hey!” Janet’s hand waved in front of my face snapping me out of my trance. I looked at Janet confused when she said with a smirk, “Wipe the drool off your face Ryan.” “What? Oh!” I wiped the drool away that was dripping down the side of my lips. How embarrassing! But my embarrassment did pay up. I saw her smile amused at my situation. She looked adorably at me with those beautiful eyes of hers. “Don’t scare her on her first day Ryan,” Janet stated sternly. I averted my gaze to Janet, “That’s not my intention at all Janet. Pardon me if I sent the wrong message. All I want to know is the princess’s name.” “I’m something,” she said to me with a smile, her eyebrows furrowing down, “but definitely not a princess,” she shook her head sending her chocolaty locks to dance. “Then what is it that you are?” I asked amused at her heavenly voice. “Guess you’ll find out,” she said with a smirk crawling onto her lips, “once you state your business stalker boy. I was startled by her sudden confrontation. How did she know? “What is it that you want Ryan?” Janet crossed her arms. She was getting irritated by each passing second. “Mr. Gray wants to see you in his office.” “Why?” “I don’t know about that.” “We gotta go,” Janet said taking the girl’s hand in her own. “I’ve to show you the way to your class befo-” “Which class? I can be her school tour guide,” I said interrupting Janet. “No need sugar boy, she’s my friend and I’ll take care of it,” Janet snapped at me. “But you have to go see Mr. Gra-” Janet cut me mid way, “Mr. Gray can wait, he’s not going anywhere anyways,” sounding annoyed. “It’s the opposite Jan. I’m not going anywhere! It’s not appropriate to keep a teacher waiting. I’ll take Ryan’s help with the classes and you can give me the school tour after lunch,” the beautiful chirped in. “I don’t trust him.” I rolled my eyes at Janet’s frowning face. “Trust me then. You’re reacting as if he’s a serial killer.” Now it was her turn to roll eyes. Janet stepped closer. Trying to sound intimidating she shoved her index finger into my chest, “If you do anything to her, I swear to God I’ll make your life miserable.” I chuckled at her threat putting my hands up in surrender, “I’ll keep every word of yours in my mind.” “Beware of him,” she said to that to the beauty pointing at me. Throwing a disgusted look my way she walked down the hallway into the girls’ washroom. I turned my gaze back to her after Janet was out of sight, “I’m Ryan,” I said stretching my hand out to shake. She took my hands in hers and gave it a firm shake, “Somebody,” she said with a smile. Her hands are so soft! “That’s not fair! I just gave you my name.” “I knew it before you said it.” I arched my eyebrows up in confusion. “Janet called your name like what…for three or four times already.” She stated in an obvious tone. “Oh!” I shook my head in amusement. “Guess I never had a chance from the beginning. Guess I’ll have to stick with gorgeous.” She crunched up her nose shaking her head in denial, “Alex is just fine.” “Alex.” I muttered under my breath. It suited her. “Alex is good gorgeous,” I said looking at her face. “Umm-umm, none of those sick nicknames if you want to stick around.” “I’ll keep that in mind princess.” She looked at me sternly, c*****g up her left eyebrow. “Okay! Okay! Alex it is!” I said giving up. She smile-pouted narrowing her eyes at me. Oh how cute she looked! For the first time in four hundred and twenty two years I was feeling something genuine for a girl other than my mother. And it was definitely not s*x.
