I don’t think I’ve ever run so fast. I knew she would probably get there first. Vampires were fast, and she told me once she was the fastest vampire in her coven. I could probably get there just as fast if I shifted, but I knew Zeke would do everything he could to keep me away from her. So I stayed on foot as I followed the path that was now so familiar to me.
As soon as I got to our spot I saw her there. My eyes darted to hers, and I could tell she was crying again. Dammit, I hated how often I’ve seen her cry recently. I didn’t say anything, and neither did she. I just walked up to her and wrapped her in my arms. She cried quietly on my shoulder. I pulled her close to me, and didn’t let go.
