Duncan couldn't get back to sleep that night. She had dreamt a few hours ago that Raine and Justin refused to keep their word and she was caught up in a mob of angry people yelling and throwing things at her. She had gotten so angry and scared that she shouted. She dreamt that she shouted
"My name's Amaza"
so loud that their was a huge explosion. Everyone died and she stood by their ashes.
Then later when she came home, she rushed to her dad's room to explain to him what happened, but saw him by his bed sharpening a knife.
When he saw her he looked at her and said
"You are a disgrace. I wished that you never came to my life". Then he held the knife to his throat, and as Duncan was about to stop him, he slit it. He killed himself right in front of her and all she could was to shout.
In the dream, she walked out of her house and saw dead bodies lying everywhere on the street. Children that just lost their parents where crying as well as adults who one or more of their loved ones where dead.
Then suddenly, all of them looked towards her and started yelling
"It was all your fault!"
"It was all your fault!"
Duncan looked around, everyone was saying it and she started to back up shaking and crying
"No....o., I didn't mean for this to happen, I... I... Never meant for any of this. It's not my fault! ".
But in the dream, no matter how she had she tried to explained, no matter what she said, no one listened to her. They all just continued to chant
"It was all your fault"
Duncan couldn't take it anymore so she screamed, and that was when she woke up.
Duncan woke up panting, no.. this couldn't be happening. She thought.
What was going on?
"Darling are you all right?" Duncan heard someone ask her, she turned her head and saw her dad looking at her worriedly.
"Daddy". Duncan said as she hugged Alfred as if her life depended on it.
"Dad, it's not my fault right?". Duncan asked after a few seconds of hugging her dad. Alfred looked at his daughter tears stained face and couldn't help but hug her again while repeating
"It's not your fault "
Alfred looked at his daughter who had gotten over the shock of the nightmare she just had.
He was about to go to bed when he heard sobs coming from his daughter's room and quickly ran in to find out what was going on. On getting there, he saw his daughter crying seriously. Her beautiful face was stained with tears and she was talking from her sleep, saying
" No.. it was not my fault"
He didn't know what was going on, but he tried to wake her up while comforting her, until she finally woke up with another round of tears.
" Dad, I'm fine now, you can go back to sleep". Duncan said after seeing her father was not ready to leave and he was thinking about something
Alfred looked at his daughter, you could hadly guess that she had just been crying.
But that was how she was. The strong type. So seeing her cry out like that really terrified him.
"Are you sure you want me to leave? I can stay until you fall back to sleep"
"No dad, I'm fine. I don't want you to worry. It was just a nightmare and I'm fine now. And you have to got to the office tomorrow". Duncan replied. She really didn't want her father to worry.
"Fine, fine you had me when you said you didn't want me to worry, but I'm your father and it's my job to worry about you. But if you say you're alright, I believe you. I always do". Both father and daughter smiled at each other
"If you need anything, my door is always open, and I mean that literally, I'm not closing my door". Alfred joked as be walked out of the room.
"Goodnight dad". Duncan yelled as her father switched off her room lights
"Good night my darling". Alfred replied then he closed the door slightly and left.
So Duncan remained staring at the celling of her room waiting for sleep to take her once more, but she knew it would be almost impossible to fall asleep after the terrible nightmare she just had.
Duncan rolled around on her bed thinking about the dream she just had.
' Would they really betray her?" She wondered. Since she couldn't fall back to sleep, she began to ponder about the dream she had.
After sometime, she started to had terrible thoughts, she she shook her head so the thoughts would disappear.
Then she laid on her bed and started to remember all the times her mother had been here, the happy times. Where it was just her and her parents, those times she would go with her father to work and come back home to see her mom waiting for them. Those times her mother would give her a big hug and then kiss her. Those happy times.
Before she knew it, she fell asleep with a smile on her lips.
Alfred waited for an hour before he went back to cheack on his daughter, when he turned on the lights, he saw that she was sleeping with a light smile on her lips.
Alfred couldn't help but smile, then he placed a light kiss on her cheek.
"Sleep well my darling. I love you"
Then he quietly walked out of the room and switched off the lights.
....
Duncan ran down from her room as fast as she could. She had overslept!
That had never happened before. After her mother died, she had trouble sleeping, so it's either she doesn't sleep, or sleep for a little while then that's it, but today, she had overslept.
"Stop running or you might hurt yourself". Alfred yelled from the dinning
"You didn't wake me". Duncan shouted back as she arrived at the dinning.
"You were sleeping so soundly that I couldn't bear to wake you up". Alfred replied as he dropped the toasts on the table.
"You know that I'm going to school, you should have woken me up!" Duncan answered then sat down and started to eat.
"Eat slowly or you might choke". Alfred reminded. Then he sat down and joined Duncan eating his breakfast.
"I've instructed the driver to take you to school today". Alfred said after a few minutes of eating in silence.
" No need dad, I'll go on my own". Duncan argued.
"No, you're going with the driver, and that's final". Alfred said then continued eating his food
Duncan knew that was it, there was no point arguing with her father when he says it's final, so she just let it be.
..
Duncan finished her breakfast as fast as she could and went outside to wait for the driver her dad had assigned to her.
She didn't wait for long when a man came out from the shadows to introduce himself to her.
"Hello young miss, I'm Gerald your personal driver". Then the driver named Gerald gave a low bow that signified respect.
Duncan could feel that the driver was absolutely no ordinary, but she didn't say anything, she just let him direct her towards the car, and zoomed off.
..
Raine and Justin had been waiting at the school gate for Duncan for the past 20 minutes. Which meant that Duncan was already 20 minutes late. They were not having any class that morning so they decided to use the to wait for Duncan.
"Are you sure she would come today, she's already 20 minutes late. ". Justin reasoned.
" She'll come, I just know it". Raine answered. Few minutes after, they saw a car pull up by the school's gate.
Duncan came down from the car and she saw two boys waiting for her. A smile came to her lips unknownly.
"Do you know that you're over 20 minutes late?" Justin began as he and Raine walked towards her.
" I don't have classes this morning".
" That doesn't mean you can come this late to school ". Raine said
" Aww, where you guys waiting for me? "Duncan said as her expression changed to a smiley one.
" Don't flatter yourself, we just wanted to see if you would come to school today, after what happened yesterday". Raine said his face a little red.
He didn't know what was wrong with him. Ever since he touched her hand in the male's bathroom the other day, he had this weird feelings. Today, he was the one who suggested they waited for her to see if she would come today. He just wanted to see her.
"I don't even know what type of school opens on Saturday". Duncan complained as she started walking into the school compound.
"It's a half day Duncan, I don't know why you're complaining ". Justin said as he followed her
" You're not complaining because, you practically live in the school". Duncan pointed out.
Justin just shrugged and continued walking.
" So we're you guys really waiting for me? ". Duncan asked as she turned around to face the two boys that were following her.
" Raine wanted to see if you would come today". Justin said almost immediately which earned him a stare from Raine.
" So does that makes us friends? " Duncan asked again.
" Maybe". Raine answered then he walked straight into the school.
"I guess so, we do know your secret". Justin answered and they both entered into the school.
