Chapter 3 Who Shamed Who

1485 Words
It was nearly noon when Robert and Abby arrived at the school. As they approached Robert could see a thin security guard sitting at the door. The guard was staring at Abby’s legs and drinking a bottle of water but when he saw Robert following behind her, he almost spit it out. He didn’t understand how such a dirty man could follow such a beautiful woman.   In that area of New York, there were two schools, Portledge and Staten Island Academy. Anyone was eligible to receive an education at an ordinary middle school like the Academy. However, there were many different types of people there and a lot of gangs. Portledge School was considered to be “New York’s Noble School” where the rich children from the city went, no family with less than tens of millions of dollars were able to attend.   “Bruce, please open the door,” Abby beamed.   The security guard, Bruce James, squinted at Abby’s plump breasts and then looked at Robert condescendingly, quietly opening the school door.   Robert could see that the security guard was looking down on him, he knew that a poor man like himself would never get near the front gate if it weren’t for being with Abby.   Yet, when Robert tried to walk in, Bruce stopped him, “Hey, this is Portledge School. It is full of rich and noble people so if you are smart, you should get out of here immediately. I am sick of your kind!”   Abby had just stepped through the gate when she heard Bruce shouting. She turned and said, “He is the exorcist that I invited to catch the ghost. Let him in!”   "Oh? Exorcist?" Bruce sneered, hitting his rubber baton on the gate and said, "You are just a scammer! Miss Bush, don’t believe him! Men like this specialize in fooling rich people! You said the girls’ dormitory has a ghost, right? How about I look? It would be much better than this liar!”   The security guard was getting excited, "I could see at first glance that he is not a reliable guy! When he hooks up with you, he might cheat you out of your money!” And then he turned to Robert, “You didn’t go to school when you were young! You fooled around all day so go back to your temple! Don’t sell people your bullshit!”   After speaking, he gave Robert a playful smile then spread his legs and pointed to his crotch, “You can go in, but you have to get in this way!”   Seeing Robert's angry look, Bruce burst out laughing, but then he changed back to the cold and wretched appearance, "Boy, you don’t want to do that? Then get out of here!”   Before Bruce could say anything more, Robert slapped him across the face. He was young and had more pride than to withstand the shame.   "You f*****g dare to hit me?" Bruce scolded, covering his cheek.   Hearing that, Robert slapped him again, causing him to fall to the ground and moaning.   "It’s you who seems to be talking bullshit. You are so annoying! Oh, yes, didn’t you say that I am a cheater? Maybe you should take a look in the mirror!” Robert snorted as he raised his hand, and a scarlet rune suddenly appeared. It was a Fiery Rune he received, and he had a thousand pieces.   He had no choice but to teach the security guard a lesson, plus it would be an opportunity to test the capabilities of the Ghostbuster System. A flash of light suddenly went through his mind, then the run between his fingers began to move in front of his chest as if it was forming a matrix. Robert was not surprised that he was being controlled by the system.   Students had started to gather around and whisper, “Who is he? He was brave enough to attack Bruce!”   Another student responded, “I don’t know, but Bruce’s brother is the Dean of Academic Affairs. If he is a new student, he will be sorry!”   Then someone commented, “No, I just heard that this is the exorcist Miss Bush found.”   "What!? He looks so poor and weak. How does he have the ability to hunt for ghosts?" A girl shouted.   "Damn it! Miss Bush found him. I don’t know how many times I have dreamt of her legs. s**t! One day I will steal all of my father’s money and sleep with her!”   Robert ignored everyone and threw the rune to the ground. He regained control of his body, as the strange red light from the Fiery Rune turned the ground red as blood.   Everyone’s eyes widened, waiting for Robert’s next move, but there was no movement from the rune, and the red light it was emitting was weakening.   The group started to shout and boo, “This kid is just a scammer!”   "Yeah, it's really disappointing! How could he have the nerve to say that he is an exorcist?” Another yelled.   Bruce stood up, still angry and swaying back and forth he grabbed his rubber baton and rushed toward Robert. However, Robert didn’t budge, he believed that the Ghostbuster System would never let him down.   Everyone was holding their breath, they could see Bruce’s momentum and thought he was going to plow through Robert.   Robert heard the familiar chime in his head, “The rune module is loaded and activated!”   A rune exploded into a huge fireball and with a loud bang, collided with Bruce causing him to stop dead in his tracks. The bright light and black smoke filled the air, terrifying everyone around.     Still standing in the same spot, Robert saw that the Fiery Rune had turned into a piece of normal yellow paper.   As the smoke began to dissipate, Bruce was left trembling with fear. Black smoke covered his face and his uniform was torn to shreds, right down to his underwear. His skin was only slightly burnt, and he would recover in no time.   Robert had shown him mercy, if he hadn’t ordered the system to minimize the power of the Fiery Rune, Bruce would have been turned to ashes.   When the group of onlookers was able to speak, one questioned, “Why did Bruce suddenly become so weak?”   A student said, “I saw a fireball come out of the run and explode!”   "What? Seriously? This kid is not really a master, right?" Another student asked.   The students who had mocked Robert suddenly shut their mouths. They never thought that someone as tough as Bruce would be shamed by a kid.   Abby couldn't believe what she had seen, she had doubts about his ability to catch a ghost. But after what she just watched, she had a completely different opinion; she would now be able to save Adele Bush.       "You fucking..." Bruce yelled but before he could finish, he saw Robert conjure another Fiery Rune out of thin air.   "What? You want to continue?" Robert smiled, then cautiously tapped the rune on the ground.   Bruce panicked, and he held back what he was about to say. He could see that it would take little effort for the mysterious young man to kill him.   "Get out of here,” Robert said casually.   "What's your name, kid?" Bruce trembled with anger.   “Robert Martin! And remember it! Go away, and don’t let me see you again!” he kicked Bruce.   "Robert, fine! Let’s wait and see!" Bruce took two steps back, then turned and ran.   Robert shook his head, put Fiery Rune away and walked over to Abby, saying, "Let's go."   Watching him and Abby walk away, some of the girls couldn’t help but smile over Robert. One said, “He is so strong and powerful! Much more handsome than the boys here!”   An argument nearly started when another said, “I am going to have his baby! I don’t mind paying for everything!”   As they continued toward the school, Robert asked the system what loading the rune module was. The system explained that it was equivalent to function activation in the game and that there were hundreds of modules. Most of them would be automatically loaded and activated the first time they were used, but some modules required the host to complete a special task or obtain specific items to activate. The activation speed of the module would depend on the module’s strength, meaning simple modules that only need to load because they would be activated immediately.   The system began to control Robert’s body, which told him that it was in the process of loading the module.   "You are careless! His brother is the Dean of the Academic Affairs Office!" Abby warned him.   "So, what? What I don’t understand is why the rich students are so scared of him?” Robert asked.   "Do you think the Dean and Principal of the Academic Affairs Office are ordinary people? To be honest, apart from a few powerful people, no one in New York dared to offend them," Abby said.   "So, I'm in trouble?" Robert asked jokily. Since he owned the Ghostbuster System, he was no longer the ordinary feeble exorcist he was before.   Abby didn't answer but nodded silently.
