Chapter Two

I parked my car in the driveway,ran next door and knocked on the door. I held my breath when a shirtless Ashley opened the door.

"H..hi.. I..is Leah home?" I stuttered. Ashley looked at me from my head to toes before responding. "Emily?Is that you?" I nodded nervously.

"whoa! I almost didn't recognize you without your glasses!" he said chuckling while opening the door wider for me to enter.

"Yeah had to take them off for soccer camp and I figured it'd be more convenient to keep the contacts on," I pulled myself together and responded while entering. He always had this effect on me. Even before he moved in next door, at school when he'd smile at me I'd get these butterflies in my stomach. He was gorgeous. Unfortunately, the female population at West Hills High thought so too so I had a lot of competition if I wanted to get his attention. But ever since his mom got married to Leah's dad, I decided to take him off my crush list.

"Leah!you have a visitor!"he yelled up the stairs then turned and looked at me and asked,"you know you can just go up to her room right?"

"I came a week early, I wanna suprise her," I took a seat on the sofa and shrugged.

"Ash what the hell?!you know I get cranky when I don't get eight hours of sleep! it's Saturday morning for goodness sake!" Leah came marching down the stairs and into the living room. She let out a shriek when she saw me sitting on the sofa. She ran and literally jumped on top of me making us both nearly fall off the sofa.

"EMILY! WHAT ARE YOU DOING HERE?HOW ARE YOU HERE?WHEN?GOD I MISSED YOU!"She shouted and threw her arms around me all over again. I laughed and hugged her tight.

"To answer your questions, I came over to see you, since we all performed so well at camp they let us out a week early, I got in this morning and I missed you so much!"

"It's only been two months!you twos are acting like it's been years!" Ashley rolled his eyes. We both shot daggers at him which made him lift his hands in surrender and walk out laughing.

"Tell me everything! oh and you're just in time. Dad and Molly are out for the weekend so the boys are throwing a party tonight. We need to find some cute outfits for tonight!" Leah clapped her hands in delight.

"Leah? It's too early for all this noise! why are you screaming so early in the morning?!" A shirtless Trent in sweats and with messy hair came down rubbing his eyes. He looked at me as if trying to confirm if it was really me. "s**t!Em?"he asked. I smiled and got up to go give him a hug. "Hi Trent!" I said into his chest. He pushed me away from him while still holding my shoulders to take a good look at me. "God Em I missed you!" he pulled me back to him and hugged me tight while placing a kiss on my head. Trent was the overprotective big brother I never had. We got along so well and he was someone I could always easily talk to.

"Give me my best friend back and go find your own! put on a shirt while you're at it!" Leah whined.

Trent laughed and let me go. "Since you twos are so full of energy this morning, make breakfast. I'll be down in a bit." he took one last long look at me before he went back upstairs. Leah and I headed into the kitchen and started preparing breakfast. "So....tell me everything! any cute guys at camp? did you get your first kiss? Did you..." she whispered," Do the deed?"

I threw my head back and laughed. "Yes, yes and No," I answered. She squealed, "my baby is all grown up! who is he and did you exchange numbers?"

"Well his name's Sam and he goes to our school. He's actually a senior. He said he's noticed me around school but was too shy to make a move. We hit it off but now that I'm back I don't wanna make the first move you know," I said nervously and put my head down.

"Hey look at me", Leah said softly. I looked up at her. "Any guy would be crazy to not take serious interest in you.Youre beautiful inside and out."

" Thanks Lee", I smiled. I seriously had the best best friend in the entire world. just as we finished setting breakfast up the two guys came into the kitchen.

"So Trent and I are heading to the shops to get some supplies for tonight,"Ash said while grabbing a plate."Party starts at 7. And Lee, Kim is invited so please try to be nice."

I felt my heart ache a little bit. Kim is Ashleys girlfriend. She's a total b***h but Ashley doesn't seem to notice. I guess she makes up for her bad attitude in the bedroom. My head was down pretending to eat and when I looked up I caught Trent starring at me. He quickly looked away. I guess these contacts made me look different. I've been getting a lot of second glances ever since I put them on. Not that Trent was checking me out or anything. He's practically my big brother.

Lee and Ash were arguing over Kim while Trent went out to answer a phone call. I had taken the early morning flight so I excused myself to go take a nap then get ready and come over again for the party later on. Just as I was heading out the door Trent called out," Hey Em wait up!" I turned around and waited. "Hey Trent I'm heading over to rest for a bit."

He smiled shyly at me," So Em there's something I've been wanting to talk to about. I know this may sound weird but I've kinda-"

"Hey man you ready?" Ash interrupted walking out.

"Yeah sure," Trent said not breaking eye contact from me. "Go. I'll talk to you later."

I turned around and headed towards my house but not before looking back to see Trent standing there watching me. What was that? what did Trent want to tell me? Did Sam say something to Trent? They're not close but I've seen them exchange greetings at school. All sorts of thoughts got into my head. What if Trent was tryna warn me that Sam was some sort of player?Argh! I don't even want to think of that!with all these thoughts I dropped on my bed and fell asleep.
