CHAPTER 1
"Why do you act like this? I thought we were happy." Amanda screamed, her voice trembling. She was pacing back and forth in the living room and then suddenly she picked up her bag and was about to leave.
"This is what you're good at. Leaving." Brian paused and continued again. "We have a problem and the best thing you can do is leave?" Brian asked. He ran his hands through his thick hair.
It has been just a month after their engagement and two weeks to their wedding. Everything was going as planned and everyone was happy for them except Mrs. Dora, Brian's mother.
"Brian, it's just days to our wedding and all we do is fight. I am sick and tired of it." Amanda was on the verge of crying. "I want this marriage to work, I want to get married to you."
"I'm also sick and tired of it but you need to shut up most times," Brian said, reaching out to her.
"So you're blaming me? Again?" She brushed his hand off her.
"I don't blame you, I just feel like it's your fault, this time around."
"How is this my fault? Your mother doesn't like me?" Amanda replied.
"This isn't about my mother and you know it. We fight most time because you complain all the time. You're never appreciative. You're.."
"It's always me, me, me. You don't have any fault right? You're faultless."
"Well, I'm barely wrong. I'm never wrong." Brian answered, looking away.
"God! Sometimes I wonder if this marriage would work. I'm so fed up, already." Amanda said torn between love and anger. How could she be so mad at this man, yet also be in love with him?
"Don't say that. Amanda. How can you say that?" Brian became scared, his eyes pleading. "Don't say that, please."
"I'm so tired. So tired of you, this relationship, and everything!" Amanda said, hissed, and walked away.
"Amanda, Amanda!" Brian called but she didn't as much as turn back."You can leave, then!" Brian said and two minutes later was regretted the fact that he had pushed her away.
He sometimes wondered what was wrong with them, they used to be in love so badly. Amanda never wanted to let him go but now, she was the one leaving. Brian hissed and hoped everything would be fine between them before the wedding because a lot of multitude were looking up to them and he didn't want to disappoint anyone.
His meeting with Amanda was one you could call fate. They had met two times in the same restaurant and they exchanged contacts and their feelings for each other grew from there.
Meanwhile, Amanda was not in the right frame of mind to make a decision, she just wanted to let it all go. She and Brian had dated for two years and was now engaged to be married. Brian was always so softhearted especially around his mother, more than he should be and this had so many times caused issues between them both.
Brian was simply a Mummy's boy.
"God!" Amanda hissed as she remembered when she had been sick and Brian had gone to get drugs for her but before he left, his mother called and informed him to be home in the next five minutes. Amanda was shocked that he didn't bother going to get the drugs anymore but ran to answer his mother's call.
Mrs. Dora knew that she had her son in her palms and so didn't fail to let Amanda know that without.?Brian would never marry her.
Amanda could remember when she met Brian, three years ago. He was having coffee with his mother when they had banged into each other.
The next time they met they exchanged contacts. Their love was beautiful truly but his mother has always ruined everything.
Mrs. Dora never liked Amanda even when Brian had dated her and then proposed to her. Amanda couldn't explain the reason why Mrs. Dora was proving difficult but she had to look good in front of her or she could stop the wedding or even Brian's feelings towards her.
Amanda hated that Mrs. Dora had that power.
How could Amanda's chance of getting married to Brian be in the palms of his mother? Brian was a brave man, caring and handsome but his mother was his weakness. She could tell him to leave the country and he would just do that without asking questions.
Brian was a Foster child. He was adopted by the Jasons when he was just 5 years ago and he felt so indebted to them. They had made him who he was today. He didn't know how he would have survived without them.
When Brian tells Amanda this story, he gets so emotional that he cries and Amanda knows that he felt so indebted to the Jasons that he did whatever they asked of him.
Amanda settled down at a bar, she needed to cool off. The lighting was dimmed as it should and the way Amanda liked it. There was soft music playing in the background and there wasn't much crowd here so she could think.
"Give me a glass." She pointed out, moving her fingers through her well-combed hair. It was soothing for her. Just then, a young man turning against the bartenders, stood facing her.
"Hello."
Amanda didn't move her head as much. She was simply not in the mood to have chit-chat with irresponsible married men who go after single ladies.
"Hello." He greeted her again.
"Hello, can I help you?"
"I will be the one to help you if you don't mind. You look distracted, is something wrong?" He sounded concerned but Amanda refused to be deceived.
Men who come to bars do so because they want to forget their problems or because they wanted to sleep with someone who isn't their wife.
"I'm sorry. I just wanted to have a conversation with a pretty soul like you."
Amanda looked up and for the first time met with the most perfect light green eyes. She was mesmerized by his handsome features.
"You look good tho." She turned to him, fully giving him her attention. "Do you want to have a drink with me?"
"Anything for my lady. Anything."
They had a couple of drinks together and soon enough, Amanda was all drunk.
It happened fast but she found herself naked, someone thrusting at her, slowly but passionately. Her emotions were high as she moaned loudly.
Whatever she felt was more than she had ever felt for another person, especially Brian.
