Chapter 6

Damien

After laying Laney down on the couch, I received a mind-link from my father, Alpha Michael, asking me to come to his office now. I kissed Laney on the cheek and covered her with my suit jacket. 'Mate is so small and beautiful.' 'Yes Aiden, she is, not to self; get a small throw blanket and a nice pillow for the couch, for when she falls asleep I can cover her up a little better.' Aiden growled in my head and I headed to my fathers office.

I walked in and noticed that my mother was sitting down on one of my father's chairs near the window with a book in her hand. As I walked in, my mother looked up and smiled. I smiled back at her and turned towards my father. Alpha Michael is a strong and serious leader. He has to be able to lead a whole pack, and he has been that way with me to make sure that I become as great of a leader as him.

My father's wolf, Magnus, is one that you don't want to mess with. He is ferocious, Aiden is larger than Magnus, but Magnus has this Aura of death around him which has every other wolf afraid of him. Many rogues know not to mess with the Orion Mist Pack. But it doesn't mean we don't get a few attacks on parts of our border. We have yet to get them past that main gate.

"Dad, what is going on? Why did I have to rush to get here?"

"Because son, there are a few things we need to get over and I would like to apologize to you son, about Laney, I judged too quickly. I know that you knew she was your mate 3 years ago and I didn't listen, I just couldn't admit that you were mated to someone who came off as weak." - Aiden growled and nearly came out to kill for being disrespectful to his mate.

"Wait, Damien, let him finish. Darling get to the point." Said my mother. "Son, I am sorry, I was wrong." Right there I knew that he was sincere and that he meant it.

"Thank you."

"Now let's get this training going."- Before my father could continue, we were both mind-linked by the warriors at the front north gate.

"Alpha, Rogues have passed the northern gate. There are too many of them, we need you now." the link closed and father and I both looked at each other and, without saying anything, I left and went straight to my office and grabbed Laney, who was still asleep and took her to the cottage and lay him down.

"Stay safe my love." I kissed her forehead and left. I shifted in mid air.

Tearing my clothes, I caught up to my father's brown and white wolf. We made it to the area where the rogues are and we fought hard. Magnus tore the heads off of every rogue he passed.

Aiden is doing the same, like father, like son.

After Magnus killed the last rogue on site, we had scouts, including Laney's parents. Jackie and Kent go out and make sure they are all gone from the territory.

I went ahead and decided to mind-link mom. 'Hey mom, I need you to do me a favor.' 'of course dear what is it?' 'Laney is in the cottage, can you be there with her?' 'Of course son, I am on my way.' I see that the scouts were back and found no trace of rogues in the pack. Which was great for me because I could go and check on Laney. Once I put on a pair of sweats, I started walking towards my cottage, "Hey Damien, wait up please."

I turned and faced towards Jackie, Laney's mother. "What is it Jackie?" I asked her with a serious face, I have to forgive both of them for treating Laney the way they did.

"How is she, how is Laney doing?" Jackie asks.

"She is fine, she is with Luna Angie."

"I miss her, please Damien, we know that she is your mate. We know that she has her own wolf. You banning us from the packhouse was wrong. We apologized. I have apologized for Kent's behavior."

"I understand, but Laney is not ready yet. Till then, please just stay away till I say. One thing at a time."

I then walked away from Jackie and headed to the Cottage to see my mate.

'She won't hold a grudge, that is not who she is.'

'I know Aiden, but I do. Give me till her first shift in a couple days.'

'Okay, but don't wait too long.'

Laneys

I wake up, realizing that I am in our bed and not on Damien's couch.

'What is going on, Nia?'

'I am not sure, I was also asleep.'

I started to get up from bed, then I heard the lock on the front door unlock. I stepped out of the room and looked at the door open, hoping that it was Damien, but it was Luna Angie.

"Luna, how can I help you?"

"Hey Sweetie, I was asked by Damien to come and keep you company for a bit." I looked at Luna with a confused look.

"I don't mean to be rude, but why?"

"Because there has been an attack on the Northern front border and a few rogues got past the gate.

So Alpha Michael and Damien went to help. Everything is okay, they got all the rogues that came through." I smiled and relaxed a bit after knowing that Damien was safe. I wonder if that is why I am here and not at the packhouse.

"Would you like a cup of coffee?" "Oh that will be nice dear." I headed over to the kitchen and prepared the coffee maker and added a POD to the Kurig. Once it was finished, I added a bit of cream and sugar cubes, and with a spoon I sat the cup in front of her. While she was stirring her coffee, I hear the front door open again, and I see Damien in sweat pants with no shirt.

His ripped muscles, 8 pack abs, okay I am getting turned on again and realize that Damien is smiling and sends me a wink. I blush and turn towards Luna Angie and realize she is staring at me smiling. Then she looks towards the front door and saw Alpha Michael and I just froze in my spot as Luna Angie walks up towards him and gives him a hug and then Damien. I stared at the three of them and I became a little sad. Damien feels my sadness and walks towards me and hugs me. Alpha Michael clears his throat, both Damien and I stare at him. I notice that Luna Angie has her arm wrapped around his waist as she leans on him. She smiles at me then at her mate. "Laney, I want to apologize for my behavior the past 3 years. I am so sorry that everything you went through was my fault." I just stared at him. I am fuming.

He apologies now, after I get my wolf. Then these words left my mouth without even thinking about it. "You are sorry? After 3 years of making my life hell, after you told everyone not to talk to me, after you turned my parents against me. You decided today would be best to apologize." I didn't wait for his reply. I just stormed off to the bedroom and slammed the door, I ran to the bed and laid down and sobbed in my pillow. 0
