Chapter 10

Damien

Feeling Laney's sleeping body next to me is soothing. Calming Aiden down, after taking her in the shower, Aiden wants to take her again and again until she is pregnant with our child. Keeping Aiden at bay is hard but as long as I have Laney by our side he steps back and understands she is not ready just yet.

I finally fall asleep with her tightly in my arms. I all of a sudden get a mind link from my best friend and future Beta Charlie. 'Damien, its in an emergency. Rogues have been spotted on the south wall.

Need back up.' I growled, and noticed that Laney stirred in her sleep. I don't want to wake her, but I also don't want to leave her here without protection.

I mind link my mother and father, 'dad, Charlie just told me there are rogues spotted on the south wall. I need you to look after Laney. I will send her to the suite. Please look after her. Don't worry Charlie and I can handle the rogue's. I will let you know if it gets too much.' 'Thank you son, of course bring her here, please be careful.' said my father.

"Laney love, I hate to do this but I need you to wake up and put on some clothes." I told her as I was getting up to get my sweatpants and my sweatshirt for her to wear. Having my scent on her will help keep her safe.

"Damien, what is going on?" Laney asked while still groggy. Rubbing her eyes and brushing her hair back and putting it into a bun. She sits up and oh she is beautiful in just my shirt and her underwear.

"There were rogue's spotted on the South wall and Charlie needs my help, you are going to the pack house suite and will stay with my parents. Please stay put, promise me?" I told her, I can't lose her. "I promise, you just promise me that you come back to me." She says while putting on the clothes I gave her. She slipped on her slippers and we walked out of the room and cottage. I then picked her up bridal style and took her into the pack house and up the stairs. I set her down in front of my parents suite and before I knocked on the door, my mother opens the door grabs me and kisses my cheek and says "be careful son." I then nod at her and kiss Laney on the forehead and take off.

Not waiting for a reply or anything, once outside, instead of stripping off my clothes I just shift in mid air and let Aiden take over, heading to the south wall. I get there and notice that Charlie is surrounded by 25 rogues and the other warriors are fighting about 10 each. 'What is going on Aiden? We usually don't get that many rogues in one attack.' 'I don't know, and it's weird that they are back to back.' Aiden is right, there is something weird. I just need to keep Laney and the pack safe.

Aiden runs towards Charlie and starts ripping heads and flesh. Blood everywhere. I let him take full control when it comes to protecting Laney and the pack. Just as my father has done and will continue to do even after I take over.

'About time, you are cutting it a bit short don't you think.' Said Charlie to me with a grin as he was biting down on a rogue's neck, breaking it. 'Sorry about that, I had to make sure Laney was with my parents safe.' I mind linked back. We both finished off the last of the 25 rogues that were once surrounding Charlie, then went to help the others.

One caught scent and I guess noticed that I joined the fight and started fleeting. 'Go and get them, no prisoner's.' I mind linked to the warriors and trackers of the South wall.

Charlie and shifted and found some sweats in the trees that are always there. (We have the Omega's make sure there are a change of clothes in the woods and near the borders). "Damien, this is weird. This is the second attack in two days. They must know something." Said Charlie. The look of concern was written all over his face. I know what he means there is something off, and I feel like it has something to do with me finding my mate, something to do with Laney. "I know, we need to get to the bottom of this, and I think I know who to talk to." I told Charlie as I shifted back and ran to the pack house.

Laney's

After Damien had left, I went to the couch and curled up, my knees to my chest and arms wrapped around them. I started crying, I couldn't get a hold of Nia and my mate was off fighting and I am so scared.

Luna Angie noticed me and came towards me from the kitchen with a glass of warm milk. "Here love, drink this." She handed me the glass and I took a couple sips, then handed the glass back to her and she set it down on the coffee table in front of us. "He will be fine, Him and Charlie make the perfect team and so do their wolves." She told me with a smile and set her hand on my shoulder and rubbed. It was soothing, it made me think of how I wish my mother was here. My heart was breaking, how could they both not be here for me? How come I have to do this alone, Damien's parents are here for them and support him and I have no one.

I start to cry, Luna Angie brushes my hair back and says, "I am sorry dear, I wish there was more that I can do. I wish that these attacks weren't happening." I look at her and give her a sweet, weak smile. I wish that too. I started to sit up some more and grab the glass and start taking a few more sips, I then set the glass back down and laid back down and close my eyes, just waiting for Damien to walk through those doors and take me back home to our bed and make sure to never let him leave again.
