Chapter 17

Laney

I woke up to an empty spot next to me.

I wonder where Damien is, the spot is warm. I get up and head out of the room and see Damien in the kitchen making breakfast. He looks so handsome with his shirt off and only in his pajama pants. ‘He looks so yummy.’ Nia says. I smile and walk towards him and wrap my arms around his waist and rest my head on his back.

Damien turns while I am still wrapped around him. I look up and see his smile and then his eyes.

“Good morning.” I told him with a smile.

“Good Morning.” He says and then leans down and pecks my lips.

“What time did you wake up?” I asked him while walking away from him and heading towards the coffee. He grabs me a mug from the top shelf.

“I woke up about an hour ago, went for a run, got a few things for breakfast and I came back and you were still asleep, I didn’t want to wake you so I came in and started breakfast.” He said then wrapped his arms around me. Kissed my head and then moved back to the stove.

“You are such a sweet man.” I smiled then moved over to the bar side, sat down on the stool and just starred at my mate cooking. Rare site!

After a delicious breakfast. Damien and I packed up our things and headed back to the pack house.

“I don’t understand why we are heading back so soon.” I asked Damien.

“Because, I need you to start training. On top of that we need to get you ready to meet the council. You will under go training with my mother.” He told me while driving.

“I know, but the council wont be here for another week or so.” I told him while looking out the window.

Damien pulled over the car. “Look, I know that we had this whole weekend planned out, I am sorry. But, last night when the rogues attacked. A few got away, and I know that they will tell others. Now, I don’t know if they saw Nia or not, but they did see you with me and they know that you are my mate and with Orion Mist as the strongest pack in the area I am a target which makes you a high target as well to get to me. Laney, I need to keep you safe. Please!” He said

I starred at Damien, I smiled “Okay, let’s do this.” I then gave him a sweet kiss.

Damien starts driving again. 30 minutes later we pulled up to the cottage driveway. As we are getting out of the car, Luna Angie comes out of the pack house back door.

“Laney, Damien. I am so glad you both are okay.” Said Luna Angie as she comes running up to us and gives us both a hug.

“I was so terrified when Charlie came back and said that there was a rogue attack in your area.”

“We are fine mother, I want to set up a meeting with all the leaders of the pack. Please can you let dad know and get things together?” Said Damien, as he was getting the bags out of the car and sat them just inside the cottage by the door. He then headed towards the pack house with Luna Angie on his heels.

‘I guess I will get these bags unpacked and I will help out in the kitchen with Lauren for the pack leaders.’ I told Nia.

‘Laney, I think we should attend the meeting. I think it will be best for the leaders to notice us as the next Luna.’ said Nia.

She is right, I went in the cottage and put the bags in the room and unpacked them. I then went to the bathroom to shower and to get ready.

Damien

Once we arrived, I was about to mind-link my father. Mother comes running out of the back of the pack house.

“Laney, Damien. I am so glad you both are okay.” Said Luna Angie as she comes running up to us and gives us both a hug.

“I was so terrified when Charlie came back and said that there was a rogue attack in your area.”

“We are fine mother, I want to set up a meeting with all the leaders of the pack. Please can you let dad know and get things together?” Said Damien, I then headed to the pack house after dropping the bags off inside the cottage.

Once in my office, my father walks in.

"Son, I told the leaders to meet us here, will Laney be here?"

"Yes, I mind-linked her, and she said she is getting ready."

'Well she said that she was about to get in the shower.' said Aiden. 'Hush Aiden, this is important at the moment, get your head straight.' I said. 'You are right, I will get my head straight to keep mate safe.' said Aiden.

Everyone started walking in, and taking a seat on the chairs that were set up my Luna Angie. Laney walked in behind them and I had her sit next to me behind my desk. My father Alpha Michael and Luna Angie sat next to us on the right side and next to them were the Betas, Gammas, and Deltas.

"Okay, listen everyone. We have a rogue problem that has been getting out of hand. They now know that I have a mate." I told everyone.

"Damien, you and your father have kept this pack safe for many years, your father longer and even before him. We are all loyal to this pack, just tell us what we need to do." Said Beta Carl. Everyone agreed with him. I know that he is speaking the truth.

'Damien I know that you want to keep me safe but maybe we should include all the leaders on this. Like Beta Carl said, they are all loyal.' Laney mind-linked me.

'This is your decision.' I mind-linked back. I look at Laney and she nodded.
