Chapter 3 : Shocked

1231 Words
Anthony looked up and glared at the man who fearlessly grabbed his arm and stopped himself from slapping Adeline. “How dare an outsider like you get in my way!” With his deep and threatening voice, Anthony did not hesitate to scold the guest who had just come to his pack. “An alpha like you should protect your pack members, not torture them like this.” Without fear, Issac replying to Anthony's words, he couldn't see the girl he was looking for earlier being injured by his own Alpha like this. Anthony flung his arm that was still gripped by Issac, then pushed the young man away and then saying, "You can't comment on how I discipline my pack members, know your place, young man!" Adeline saw that Issac was clenching his fists, as if holding back his anger at Anthony. It would be terrible if Issac got emotional and got into a fight with Anthony, Adeline knows best how brutal Anthony is when the man is angry and she doesn't want Issac to get hurt just because of her. Adeline quickly pulled Issac's arm behind her and faced Anthony directly, “You can scold me, Alpha. But, this man has nothing to do with it," Adeline said this time looking directly at Anthony. Anthony smirked when he saw that the stupid girl who would normally tremble in fear currently dare to challenge him like this. "You have the courage to go against me, huh?!" said Anthony coldly. Adeline's body immediately shivered when she heard Anthony's words, it seemed that she had made a big mistake by intervening between Issac and Anthony. Issac was surprised not to think when the girl he was going to help turned to help him and clearly the girl signaled him not to interfere this time. Just as Issac was about to speak again to calm Anthony so he wouldn't use violence, he had already seen that Anthony was pulling Adeline's hair and dragging her away. Adeline's hand grip which was originally linked to Issac's slowly released because Adeline was being dragged by Anthony forcibly. “Alpha Anthony, that girl is innocent! She is just helping me find a way out of the garden,” shouted Issac hoping he could still help the girl who caught his attention. With a cold grin plastered on his face, Anthony turned to look at Issac, “That was her fault.” Without continuing his words, Anthony continued his steps while dragging Adeline by grabbing her hair tightly. . . . Issac was stunned in his place when what he did only made the situation of the girl he liked getting worse. As a good friend of Isaac's, Steven approached the man. "You're too rash to do that, mate." “Do you know why Alpha Anthony did that? I know he is a scary man but I don't know that he will not hesitate to hurt his pack members like that," replied Issac, still unable to understand what Anthony had done. "It's only natural that you don't know. The girl was the youngest daughter of Anthony and also the reason why Anthony's wife died. Everyone knows that girl is very hated.” Steven pitied his friend who was ignorant of common knowledge among werewolves. Issac was silent when he heard Steven's explanation, it seems that what he did was only adding to the problem for the girl, now for some reason Issac feels guilty to the girl. . . . Adeline whimpered in pain along the way as Anthony dragged her away. She knows where Anthony will take her, they must be heading to the basement where there is a special room to torture criminals or traitors. Despite the pain, Adeline did not dare to protest and just resigned herself to following where Anthony took her. After arriving at one of the rooms in the basement, Anthony threw Adeline's body roughly, causing the girl's frail body to hit the wall. "You dared to rebel now, huh?!" Anthony's voice shouted loudly at Adeline, who was still trying to get up. Due to hitting the wall so hard, Adeline vomited blood. However, she still held it in and didn't want to make Anthony angrier at her. “I'm sorry, Father." Adeline muttered quietly. "What? Forgive you? You think by apologizing you can bring back my wife?!” roared Anthony angrily, again venting his despair when he lost his wife. Adeline knew whatever she did would be a mistake in her father's eyes. Yes, Anthony was her father, but the man had never once loved her as his daughter. Because of Adeline, her mother died and made her father slumped to the point of being almost crazy like he is today. Adeline's mistake was just a cover for Anthony to scold her for killing her mother. Right now, Adeline could only lower her head while holding back her tears. She was prepared if Anthony will hit her again like usual. . . . Adeline woke up when the sunlight hit her eyes, she slowly opened her eyes. She rasped in pain as she felt pain all over her body. Slowly Adeline remembered what happened last night, Anthony punished her severely. As quickly as she was beaten last night, that's why his body hurts like this. Adeline doesn't really remember what Anthony did last night, she already fainted because she couldn't stand the pain when Anthony was whipped her many times. When Adeline examined her body, only scars remained on her skin, the wounds she got last night seemed to have healed on their own with her werewolf powers. "Thank you, Lime," Adeline said knowing that her wolf had healed her wound. “Stupid girl, why did you stay quiet when that man beat you. Even though I can heal your wounds, you can still die if you keep beating like that,” Lime replied, scolding Adeline who was too kind. “It's okay, I deserve this." Adeline answered casually, then stood up. She still has a lot of task to do, she can't be careless like this. Adeline quickly get away from the basement and returned to her pack house to do her work. However, how surprised Adeline was when she saw Issac's figure standing in front of the door of the basement. "What are you doing here, sir?" asked Adeline surprised when she saw Isaac. Issac who saw Adeline's figure immediately smiled and walked over to the girl. "I'm here to see you," Isaac replied with a smile. “To meet me? Is there anything I can help you with?” Although confused, Adeline still offered her help to the man. To be asked like that, Issac suddenly became nervous, he scratched the back of his head awkwardly then said, "I... want to apologize to you." Adeline frowned when she heard Issac's words, it seemed that she heard wrong this time, "I think I heard wrong, can you repeat it for me?" Adeline said not believing that someone had freely apologized to her. Issac took a deep breath and said again, "I apologize to you because what I did make your situation more difficult." Adeline could only stare in disbelief, it turned out that the man in front of her had actually apologized to her. Because of that, Adeline's heart becomes warm and reflects a smile appeared on her face.
