Chapter 5 My Wife

1039 Words
Looking at Amelia's face, Alice thought that Ethan was forced to marry Amelia by Daniel Wilson. If Ethan didn't like Amelia, Amelia would be nothing! With this thought, Alice spoke more rudely, "What do you want to scold me for? What was wrong with what I said? If you are not a coquette, how could you charm my son so much that he invested money in your family? How could you finally marry Ethan instead of my son?" Alice continued, "I told you, Ethan, you had better see her true personality. There are plenty of women out there. You can find someone else!" Amelia really didn't want to talk back because Ethan was involved, but what Alice said was so impolite that she couldn't stand it anymore. As she was about to speak, Ethan intervened and talked to Alice, "When I say she can't scold you, I don't mean that you can continue to blame her." He added, "Apologize." Alice gasped, "What did you say?" "It is Gabriel's fault because he broke the engagement first. He doesn't realize his mistake but you, his mother, don't know what is right or wrong?" Then he turned to Amelia, held out his left hand, and said, "Still loosened." Amelia was stunned. Although he treated Alice and her differently, she didn't think he liked her. Until today, they belonged to different classes. She held out her hand cautiously and said, "Well, shall I help you with it again?" "Thank you," Ethan said. However, beside him, Alice was irritated. She trembled and asked, "Ethan, don't you tell me that you really like her?" Ethan answered, "This is my wife." "But I'm your sister, your elder!" Alice's dignified expression shattered. "You want me to apologize to her? If Grandpa hears this, do you think he'll approve? Her surname is Miller, but my surname is Wilson!" Alice used their Grandpa in England to pressure him, making Ethan's face even gloomier. When Alice finished speaking, he gave a sneer and asked, "You are the collateral branch." Looking at Amelia, he continued, "My wife, even with the surname Miller, holds more power than you." The Wilson family had two branches. In the early years, Daniel Wilson established QC Group, which was not respected by the collateral branch, but when QC Group began to expand, the collateral branch tried to get benefits from it. In order to prevent conflicts over succession, Daniel established the rule that only people in the main branch of the Wilson family inherit the QC Group. Daniel had only one wife in his life and gave birth to an only daughter named Alana Wilson. According to the rule, Alana became the successor. When Alana passed away over 20 years ago, her son, Ethan Wilson, became the new successor. Ethan was raised by Daniel, and when Ethan became an adult 12 years ago, Daniel handed over the Group to him. After a round of reshuffling, the QC Group was now in full control of the main branch. Holding her thumb, Alice's red fingernails had a tendency to break in her palm, "But I have always been your mother's favorite niece." Referring to his mother, Ethan smiled, "Alright." Alice was relieved, but Ethan continued, "Didn't my mother give you a piece of land on the West Side when she was alive? Give it to Amelia." The land on the West Side had been developed for a long time, and Alice had built a shopping mall on it. She had invested most of her money. Giving the land to Amelia equaled killing her! Alice asked, "What does this mean..." "My mother used to say that the woman I loved was the daughter-in-law she liked, and she would give her the best. I think she will love Amelia more than you." Ethan looked at her and said, "I asked her not to speak earlier out of my mother's love for you. But you didn't realize that. Then it's not excessive for me to take back what she gave you." "That's not how it works!" Alice's face went white. She just looked at Ethan's attitude and thought Ethan didn't like Amelia, but it turned out that he seemed to like her. She had only spoken a few words but she had to pay with a piece of land! Alice clenched her fist and said, "I... I apologize!" Ethan raised his eyebrows and Amelia looked up. Alice took a step forward, forcing herself to say, "I... I'm sorry!" Amelia moved her eyelashes but remained silent. Seeing this, Alice felt a panic. She apologized. Wasn't that enough for Amelia? She bowed her head! What more did she want? The sound of a broken nail sounded in her palm. Alice glanced at Ethan who was silent beside her, and her heart felt as if it was being scratched by a cat. Taking a deep breath, she looked at Amelia and tried to smile. "Amelia... After all, you were once a daughter-in-law of the Davis family. Now that you're married to Ethan, we can't avoid each other in the future. Just reminisce about our past and forgive me." Alice was smiling, but her eyes betrayed her anger. Amelia looked at her sarcastically. She looked at the tall man next to her, pulled his sleeve, and said, "Shall we go?" She didn't take the opportunity to make fun of Alice, which surprised Ethan. However, when he saw her at the top of the stairs, readily throwing all the things given by the Davis family, he should have known her character. Ethan put his arm around her and looked at Andrew. "Now that it's all right, I'll go." Andrew said nothing. He put his hands in his pockets and sighed slowly. Ethan didn't wait for his response but walked away. Amelia smiled and followed Ethan out the door, regardless of the loud sound of collapse from behind, which was accompanied by Gabriel's roar. She followed Ethan into the car without looking back. As she got into the car, she looked at Ethan and said softly, "Thank you." When she heard that he didn't support her to argue back, her heart was really sad. She really didn't expect that she would finally get an apology from Alice.
