The silhouette in the dark
In the dark of the night, the doors slightly drew open. A shy little girl was standing right behind it.
“Mommy, I am afraid“ she said in a trembling voice.
“What’s wrong, Helena?” said a woman getting up from her bed.
“There is a boogeyman in my room...”
“Come here” woman smiled and the girl ran to her arms “Why are you afraid of him?”
“The boogeyman tells me bad things.” the girl talked silently “I am afraid that he can hurt us.”
“Helena, you should not be afraid of the boogeyman” the woman said while putting the girl next to her in bed “You should learn that even the boogeyman won’t do anything to you if you do not want it. Do you understand?”
“Yes, but still it makes me afraid after he says those things.” the girl agreed while starting to fall asleep in protective arms of her mother.
“You should not be afraid. In fear you show your weakness. If you have no fear, boogeyman shall not touch you. Sleep my little angel. You are safe.”
The woman stroked girls head until she fell asleep. Then waited for a few minutes and sneaked out of her bed. She went into girl’s room and looked around.
“She will be mine one day“ from the left dark corner a low voice murmured.
“You know very well, that you are mistaken. You already failed at taking her soul now, when she is still afraid of you.” the woman smirked “You have no chance when she grows up. Tonight was your last chance. She will be a wondrous Priestess.”
A black silhouette of a man appeared in the darkness, but the face was cloudy:
“She will be mine“
The woman walked closer to the silhouette and raised her hand to reach him. As the hand drew closer to him, the silhouette started to fade away.
“I will be back, after you will be gone” these were the last words of the low voice.
