Chapter 6
HANNA
We entered a room opposite the one where I changed. On the bed was a beautiful little blond boy who looked like an angel.
Lucia: Henry, come on, it's time. -She calls him softly and gently.
Henry: Just a little longer, Lulu.
I found it cute how he calls Ms. Lucia.
Lucia: Come on, Henry, I'm going to introduce you to someone and prepare your breakfast.
As soon as he opened his eyes and saw me, I could see how handsome he is, very much like his father.
Lucia: Well, Henry, this is Hanna, your new nanny. Please don't scare her.
Henry: I can't promise anything. -He grins mischievously.
Oh boy, what's this kid going to do to me? I decided to talk to him to try to become friends.
Hanna: You are very handsome, Henry. You look like an angel.
Lucia: He only looks like one because this boy gets up to a lot of mischief. -She laughs- Well, now Hanna, it's up to you. I'm going down to prepare breakfast.
As soon as she left, Henry got up and went to the bathroom. I followed him just to make sure everything went well. I gave him a bath, got him ready, and took him down for breakfast.
Henry: Lulu, has my dad already left?
Lucia: Yes, my boy, but he'll come for lunch with you. Now eat everything because Paul is already waiting to take you to school.
Little Henry was sad that his father had already left, but he soon got excited when Lucia said she would make his favorite dish for lunch, which was no surprise to be rice, beans, steak, and cold potato salad. Even I love that, imagine a child.
He went to school, and I went up to tidy his room. When I finished, I organized his playroom and study room.
After finishing everything, I got a bad feeling, as if something was happening. I tried to ignore it, but it was strong, so much so that even Lucia noticed.
Lucia: Is everything okay, Hanna?
Hanna: I don't know, I have a bad feeling, but it must be nothing. - I said more to myself than to her.
Lucia: Take advantage of having done everything and go explore the gardens. They are beautiful, and it's the orchid season. The greenhouse is full of them.
I went without complaining because I needed to shake off this feeling. I walked among the shelves of flowers, and one caught my attention: a black orchid. I know it's rare. I've always wanted to see one up close.
xxx: Beautiful, isn't it?
I got startled by the voice behind me, and when I turned around, my boss was looking at me. He seemed to be analyzing me.
Hanna: Mr. Alencar, sorry for the intrusion, Lucia told me to come here to distract myself.
Gabriel: No problem. While Henry isn't here, you can do other things. But tell me, is there any problem? You seemed far away.
Hanna: Nothing much. - lies - Just hoping Henry doesn't cause any trouble for me, as I really need this job. - her voice breaks and her eyes fill with tears.
My eyes filled with tears.
Gabriel: Don't worry, he's not a bad child. He just doesn't like nannies. -He gives a half-smile.
Hanna: I hope he likes me, but do you need me for anything?
Gabriel: Actually, no, I just came here to think, it's a good place for that, and I saw you looking at the black orchids. Did you know they are rare?
Hanna: I didn't know, but they are beautiful. - I said, running a hand over one
Gabriel: Are you enjoying the job?
Hanna: Actually, yes, although I was a bit worried when Lucia told me Henry tends to get up to mischief with nannies.
Gabriel: It's nothing much, he just doesn't want anyone to take his mother's place.
I checked the time on my wristwatch.
Hanna: I understand. Well, it's time for me to go. -I said, checking the time on my wristwatch.
Gabriel: Don't tell Henry I'm home. I'm going to surprise him because I almost never have lunch with him.
Hanna: All right.
I went with Paul, the chauffeur, to pick up Henry, who remained silent the entire way.
