The danger followed

“Waiting for you up the hill, come and get me xoxo”

“What is she doing up the hill at this time? For God's sake Mariane what are you up to?” Mark uttered in rather a worrying tone and paused for a moment

“No, no, no, something is wrong this is not Mariane she, she never send a xoxo on text. I just hope she’s fine and the danger doesn’t follow her. I need to get up to the hill as soon as possible”

Just when I reached our spot after hiking at a disordered pace, what I saw there was not comestible. I couldn’t believe my eyes. I got panicked and static at the same time. I was on the verge of death at that moment. It felt like I have been dragging away from my life in episodes. My fear was just in front of me. The situation that I was trying my best to get encountered was standing in front of me. It was Jack holding Mariane in his hands on the edge of the cliff and only a slight jerk would let him get rid of her. Mariane fainted there were scratches on her arms. My whole world seemed upside down at that literal moment.

“How on earth did you dare touch her you bastard”

“Oh so now the little boy will threat me for her fresh bait huh” Jack mocked

“Let her go let this remain between you and me you don’t need to involve her” Mark pleaded in distress

“You thought I wouldn’t follow you here after you did some s**t to me that was not even fair you know”

“I didn’t do it on purpose and you know that now let go of her we will settle this out on our terms”

“Oh what let go of her what if I, I let her go off this cliff huh Marky” Jack replied in a threatening tone

“Don’t you dare don’t you dare hand her over to me or I swear you will have to face the worst of your nightmares”

“I just don’t understand Marky why are you getting so much emotional when we are used to play with such delicate petals, you remember when we burnt them off and ashed them in the air what about that time?”

“I ain’t playing any games with you alright I have changed now let go of her please”

“What has gotten into you rascal that you are dying over this little piece of s**t huh” Jack raged in fury

“Jackkkk” Mark shrieked and attacked Jack with a roar

Mariane fell. After some roaring, she opened her eyes a bit and she could see the hell exhibiting its ashes in front of her. The only thing she could remember was that the two wolves were attacking fiercely each other, one being the big white wolf that she could recognize and the other grey one which was not identifiable. The howls and roaring faded as Mariane was knocked out by fear and dread. When her eyes opened slowly she could see Mark above her looking at her with distress. My head was in his lap, he was crying, calling my name, waiting for me to open my eyes. After I did open them, he hugged me so tight that I caught up on breathing for some while.

“Thank God you’re okay you scared the hell out of me Mariane” His voice was shivering with fear

“What happened to me?”

“It’s okay I will tell you alright first I need you to take home you need to take a rest”

“I’m okay Mark what, what is that is that blood on your neck?”

“It’s nothing alright I’ll be fine don’t worry”

“No you need to go to the hospital Mark we can’t leave you like this bleeding”

“Not in hell we’re not going to the hospital I’ll be charged with violence I can’t go to the hospital”

“Alright then we will go to my house, I’ll do the bandage okay”

“We can’t go to your house Mariane what about your parents they can’t see me like this”

“They will probably be sleeping I told them that I’d be late from the event so I kept the key”

“Are you sure what if they wake up”

“They won’t my room is upstairs don’t worry we need to stop your bleeding let’s go”

We entered my house quietly and went up the stairs. I took the bandage kit and started cleaning the blood on his neck.

“When I asked you to go to Mia what happened how did you get caught huh?”

“I don’t know after you went away I was going to the hall to see Mia and then something hit me and I don’t know what happened next. All I could remember after that is that I saw you fighting with him in rage. I was so scared I couldn’t hold it and got fainted again”

“I’m sorry you got in danger because of me”

“No don’t say that in fact, you saved me what if you wouldn’t have come there what then where would I be would I be even alive”

“Don’t say that I wouldn’t let anything happen to you, okay you listening to me nothing could hurt you as long as you are with me”

“I know I’m always safe with you I’m just curious why that guy even followed you for what?”

“Jack umm he was an old mate he used to meet me whenever I visited my parents’ hometown after their death two years ago. He spoiled me no doubt but he also helped me get over the death of my parents. We would spend the nights drinking in the bar and then crashing our car on the long drive. Everything seemed so good and outside the harsh reality but in that escape I got out of control and started some bad things with him. I got addicted to drugs and that is why I was left behind one year in high school. One night after we were out on the streets we accidentally crashed into a car. We got out and checked the car there was a girl in a half-conscious state she was drunk. I asked Jack to take her to the pack and hand her over but Jack he was always a badass he refused and suggested we should exploit her. I denied it and tried to stop him but he didn’t listen to me. I got back to my car and waited for him to join me over and just after a while, I heard a howl. I got scared and got out of the car and hid in the forest. The wolf that approached afterward attacked Jack and beat him to the ground. The girl that was in the car was his mate and it’s against the rules of the pack to approach or exploit the Luna or mate of some wolf. I could have saved him if I would have wanted but I was too scared and left him there and returned. Afterward, I heard that he was thrown out of the pack even exiled not to return forever. He came back to avenge me for a crime that I didn’t even commit. That bruise on my arm that you noticed attacked me earlier but I calmed him down and tried to make him go away. I didn’t know that he would follow me to the college and find out about you and then abduct you. I would have sewed him for what he did”

“How did he run away then what did you do to make him run away?” Mariane asked

“He thought I was still without a mate he thought you were just a random girl with whom I have been flirting with and he was teasing me off”

“So how did he find out?”

“You see when a werewolf finds her mate his strength increases ten times fold. And you are never allowed to touch the mate of any werewolf never. When I attacked him he sorted out my strength and slipped away assuming you were my mate”

“What if he returns what will happen then?”

“He will never attempt to, trust me you’re safe now he won’t return I promise”

“I trust you alright” Mariane replied

“How are you feeling now umm I have stitched your wound it won’t bleed now I will cut the stitching off after some days alright?”

“It’s much better now come here”

I sat on his lap and he looked at me with concern for a while.

“I’m okay Mark just don’t think about it anymore we’ll be alright”

“I don’t know I can’t risk this now I was this close to losing everything you know everything I couldn’t just explain how I felt then. I need you to stay close to me and tell me whatever happens, where are you going what are you trying to do every detail alright?”

“What I’m feeling like a diamond right now which needs to be kept safe no matter what” Mariane giggled

“You ain't no diamond, you are more than that to me you should know that Miya”

“I like this possessive version of you but umm I’ll make sure to be safe now I promise okay”

“Okay. Umm I should be going now you should take rest it was a tough night for you eh”

“Or you could stay I mean if you are not feeling alright,” Mariane asked in confusion

“No I’m fine I’ll be fine at least and umm I’ll see you tomorrow okay”

“Okay”

“And hey don’t forget to send me a goodnight kiss get that” Mark said while jumping out of the window

“I won’t” Mariane smiled and waved at him

The day eventually ended on a goodnight!
