Chapter Two What the heck was that girl doing now? Mark took a break from sinking nails into a new plank on ramp four and squinted between the shifting silhouettes of the sailboats on ramp three. He lowered his sunglasses so he could see better. Yup, Gracie was strolling down ramp two with a basket filled with cut sunflowers. A yellow cat—one of the strays who hung around the marina—trotted behind her. At every sailboat, she stopped and called out, “Hello, anyone home? Flowers ahoy!” On a sixty-foot schooner that had sailed up from Baja, a tanned retiree climbed out from the cabin.
