Chapter Two
Isabelle’s cheeks were already pink from the cold, but now her color deepened even further, to an embarrassed scarlet. Lyle knew he should probably tell her that he hadn’t been able to make out what she’d been saying. But why ruin a perfectly good uncomfortable moment?
Usually Isabelle had complete control of herself—or seemed to, anyway. Maybe the best way to get her attention was to catch her off guard.
Not that he was trying to get her attention…ah, who was he kidding? Of course he was. Ever since he’d arrived at Rocky Peak, Isabelle had been ignoring him. He didn’t like that. He wasn’t used to that. Especially from someone he’d spent most of a day and night with.
Finally he’d thrown himself on Jake’s mercy and asked about the best way to get Isabelle to talk to him.
