Author’s Note
Quite a bit of time elapsed from when I finished Killing the Hydra and then started Warriors of Epona, so much so that I had to go back over my research and get to know the characters all over again.
The funny thing is that, because I had spent so much time with Lucius Metellus and his family, when I started writing again, it was like catching up with old friends – we picked up right where we left off, without awkwardness, but with a genuine sense of familiarity.
However, I had aged and changed with the experiences life had thrown at me, as had my characters, and so it was with a fresh perspective that I set out on this new campaign. And make no mistake, writing an historical novel is a campaign, complete with preparation, strategies, logistics and much more!
